Alright, alright, alright. All the right people are pearl clutching as the new MAGA RNC leadership starts eliminating positions, reprioritizing the Republican National Committee on the functions that matter, and canceling professionally republican vendor contracts.
Essentially, the business end of the professionally republican RNC is being taken apart and retooled as a more election centric operation.
WASHINGTON – Donald Trump’s newly installed leadership team at the Republican National Committee on Monday began the process of pushing out dozens of officials, according to two people close to the Trump campaign and the RNC.
All told, the expectation is that more than 60 RNC staffers who work across the political, communications and data departments will be let go. Those being asked to resign include five members of the senior staff, though the names were not made public. Additionally, some vendor contracts are expected to be cut.
In a letter to some political and data staff, Sean Cairncross, the RNC’s new chief operating officer, said that the new committee leadership was “in the process of evaluating the organization and staff to ensure the building is aligned” with its vision. “During this process, certain staff are being asked to resign and reapply for a position on the team.”
The overhaul is aimed at cutting, what one of the people described as, “bureaucracy” at the RNC. But the move also underscores the swiftness with which Trump’s operation is moving to take over the Republican Party’s operations after the former president all but clinched the party’s presidential nomination last week.
Trump’s campaign took over operational control of the RNC on Monday. On Friday, former North Carolina GOP Chair Michael Whatley was elected the RNC’s new chair, and Trump daughter-in-law Lara Trump was elected as co-chair. Both had Trump’s endorsement. This is true but the Government Agencies are not a private business. Pretty certain that Obama grew them by the thousands and then made them all permanent employees. I suppose they might be cut and asked to reapply but if those enormous pensions aren’t ended it won’t change a thing.

Every time I hear the word Pension I seeth in disgust, there are no pensions outside of government jobs, and I think that’s unfair to the American people! I have a friend who just retired from a gov desk job, she’s traveling the world on a six figure pension. None of this is working.

Agree, but 4500 are appointees who can be let go on Day 1. Too many others were brought in on a temporary basis, then converted to permanent, such as SES. That should be a violation that can be corrected. Then there is Garland who is expanding the DOJ Civil Rights division so it can interfere in the election. It can simply be cut back by cutting those positions. It all depends on the will power of those in Trump’s administration, which wasn’t very smart in his first term.

My guess is that the average age of Republican Party operatives will drop by 30 years. This will be revolutionary. This means they will be less television centric and more internet /cell phone driven. They will be far more social media animals which means they will have a much more nuanced view of messaging vs. just raising money to throw at TV adds. The Republicans will build their own platforms and messaging systems and hopefully start raising money from rank and file members instead of just going to the same old purple funders. I also have not heard a clear method from Trump or his campaign on policy changes that they are willing to make in order to gut the administrative state. Trump seems to think that this is just an upper level leadership problem, when in fact it is an institutional problem that can only be solved by eliminating most of the alphabet agencies entirely.
The point is that I want Trump to win, but he is falling back to the same old, same old reliance and support for the “experts”, or for candidates that he perceives as “winners” regardless of their total disregard for the MAGA movement or the populist nationalist cause, as well as being public never Trump candidates such as Rogers. Support for candidates like Rogers, and lack of support for candidates such as Matt Rosendale to give two examples, are not doing him any favors, nor does it bode well for his next administration. His “short list” choices of Tim Scott and Kristi Noem virtually guarantee that if he is elected, he will not finish his term.
Chanting “Make America Great Again” and yelling “Trump, Trump, Trump” at rallies is all well and good, but pointing out flaws in his personnel choices and his public statements which actually do harm to the nation and offend many of those who would vote for him is a necessity.

Yes and no. That list is all about distractions, head fakes, gauging of support, polling, and talking points. Every time the list and those on it are mentioned, somebody wins, somebody loses. It’s also a way of vetting and seeing how those mentioned react. Typically though, the most serious vice president contenders tend not to be obvious on the radar.

For those who state they only donate to the candidates directly, I say we have a national campaign to win not just the presidency, but the House and Senate as well as other down ticket offices. Giving the new RNC management some funds, even if it’s only $20, is worth the risk.

Lara Trump and Michael Whatley should look to how the U.S. Navy handled the Yorktown upon arrival in Pearl Harbor after the Battle of the Coral Sea. Repairs initially estimateing it would require 3 months to restore it to operational status were dismissed and the ship launched a few days later to fight the Battle of Midway. A few regulations were likely ignored and expedient measures adopted. I doubt there was any “documentation.”
