I thought last years speech by Gov of Ark was bad but this was worse and I keep thinking when is she going to talk about the rest of the junk he was spouting about , but she never did, I just dont understand how people like these continue to do these after speeches and say nothing of value .

Wrong person to deliver a response – I am a senior on a fixed income who worked 2 jobs to put my children through college. I didn’t get a hand out. Thanks to Biden my utilities have more than doubled. I didn’t get a increase in my retirement check to pay for his inflation.

I thought it covered all the policies Pres Trump is presenting to the electorate very well and from a young woman who will resonate with that demographic (young people) that he is increasingly taking from Biden.
If Trump can get that demographic to jump ship the Dems will sink for years to come.
It was an arresting speech which presents the Repubs as not just composed of rich old men.
Of course we who are old don’t relate but young women and families will.

But … what is the purpose of the SOTU rebuttal anyway? Is it to convince you or me that Biden is a corrupt liar and that Democrats suck? Given my NPR analogy above, I think those are exactly the people Britt is relating to. I know that crowd since I worked with them for 30 years. Many are women, many are college age, educated and think they are smarter than God. They gleefully lap right up the clinking of dishes and crying babies in the background. In this case they would relate to an emotional young mother in her kitchen.

Just suggesting this but, perhaps the GOP was hoping all the hateful Libs would tune in to see a white supremacist, xenophobic, rural rage rant, they could summarily dismiss, but instead got this (whatever you want to call it). The breathless dialogue about how bad things are, coupled with the incongruous smiling, were cringy from the split second she started speaking. Then, less than a minute in, Britt mentioned her husband Wesley, son Ridgeway and daughter Bennett, and my 18 year old daughter said, “I’m done.” My daughter is smarter than I am, and I was trying to give Britt the benefit of the doubt, but a minute later I couldn’t take it anymore either and turned it off. Just pathetic.

Katie Britt had an open lay-up and rather than float it high off the glass and watch it fall gently through the net, she pranged it off the bottom of the backboard and it came back twice as fast as it went up and hit her in the face. Absolutely horrible.

Oh my, this truly was cringeworthy. Like a bad infomercial on a cable channel late at night. Seems like the SOU response by the GOP is always terrible. One year, Iran had captured and humiliated some of our sailors and Kerry thanked them for it, but Nikki Haley didn’t mention that during her SOU response, she just attacked Trump.

We definitely need to go back to a meritocracy in our country and stop identity politics and gimmicks.
