I have been watching a bad fire situation in the area of Chile that my wife is from (Valparaiso and Vina del Mar area). Very bad with at least 56 deaths and most certainly this number will increase. The firefighting authorities are convinced that the fires are all arson. As usual this time of year, things are very dry, but also windy. Reminds me a bit of bad fires in the area of Colorado between Boulder and Denver, and more recently in Lahaina (why don’t we hear more about Lahaina?).
Considering all of the “unknowns” coming across the border, it would not surprise me that late this summer we will have “fires of unknown origin” in the Western US. For those of you in those areas, please prepare now, and do not be surprised if there are tremendous, highly dangerous fires that suddenly come out of no where on very windy days.
And don’t be surprised if there are more and more factory and other fires (utilities, refineries, etc.).

Here in the US we use to have “local” prcessing types of plants all over.
Egg farms, chicken farms and butchering done everywhere not just in four or five big places like now.
The cattle were processed near where they were raised, egg farms and chicken farms the same.
Just having a few places to handle this is not good, not good at all.
We have a local butcher that buys their animals from local ranchers and an Amish farmer has a very nice egg farm.
I had forgotten what a nice fresh egg was like, bright yellow yolks and huge.

It is a counterintuitive conclusion. Similarly, in a centrally planned communist economy, there would be citizens praising the “black market”. Growing up in the 50’s/60’s, I was fortunate to have several teachers who did exactly that. They taught us HOW to think, not what to think.
I tried to do the same thing for my children, and they are all pretty skilled critical thinkers.
I wonder when we, as a society, determined that asking questions, requiring authority figures to be able to explain their positions, is bad. As an educator myself, I always felt that it was my job to help lead people to their own answers, not just fill their heads up with MY answers.

I was commissioned to write an article on the strange phenomenon of the dancing nurses, but I’ve yet to find a single nurse who’ll talk to me about these peculiar ritualistic dance routines.
What I need is quotes from nurses who danced in hospital wards and corridors and a video of their routine. I don’t want anecdotes of cousins’ friends or neighbours’ nieces and nephews – I just want to speak to the nurses who danced and see them in the videos.
If the hospitals were genuinely empty, then having a little dance to alleviate the boredom is nothing to be ashamed of.
I still believe the vast majority of videos put out of dancing nurses were not real nurses but actors and that the videos were mostly made by professionals.
