Tonight, the republican primary voters of New Hampshire will choose their candidate. Polls close between 7 pm and 8 pm ET, depending on the city or town. Results will generally start being announced around 8:00pm ET
New Hampshire requires a valid reason to cast an absentee mail-in ballot, so most voters will appear in person. Same-day registration is allowed. Voters who are registered with a party will be provided with that party’s ballot, and undeclared/independent voters will be able to choose either a Democratic or Republican ballot. Voters had until Oct. 6th, 2023, to change their party affiliation. The state’s 22 Republican delegates will be allocated to candidates proportionally based on the final vote count.

Kasich didn’t drop out of the 2016 race until early May. I’m expecting Haley to hang in to make it take longer for Trump’s number of delegates to reach the threshold (which I think is just a majority of the total available).

From what I’ve heard she plans to stay in through at least super Tuesday. She has billionaire backing to fund her.
There are 11 states upcoming that have some form of an open primary. Her objective is to get independents, as well as crossover dems. Mailers have already gone out in those states. Her plan isn’t to win necessarily, but to suck up as many delegates as possible for hopefully a floor fight or if not, leverage.
She’ll stay in as long as her donors can keep her going. Their plan now is for Nikki to bag as many delegates as she can in the open primary, and proportional allocation states. Then they will get to the convention and the donor class will force the RNC to change the rules on qualification for the nomination. Nikki will have the highest number of delegates of any candidate who meets the new “official” standards of being under the age of 70, not being married to a super model, and not owning a private club in Palm Beach. She’s practically a shoe in!

You want to take this very seriously. Historically, the 18-30 cohort is the least likely to turn out in an election, but when they do turn out, it is as single issue voters. Heavy turnout in college towns in the swing states had a decisive impact in ’22, and it was all about abortion.

My understanding is that they report the early votes first. In Virginia the early votes are their own effective precinct and this plays hell with the news reporting percentage wins on election nights. The news all get their input from the state’s output no matter who the “news” is.

I don’t think Biden was actually on the ballot due to the kerfuffle with moving the date of the primary. It could be a lot of the unprocessed write-ins are just write ins for him not yet tabulated and his 27% are the write ins for him that got added up. I would think if Haley had gotten a significant amount of write-in votes in the D primary, she would already have registered a couple percent and been listed right under or over Williamson in the totals.

It’s interesting — President Trump had been a magnet for a lot of Democrats who got tired of their party, like Brandon’s WalkAway movement, and saw a better way with PDJT, so they voted Republican, sometimes for the first time. Whereas Nikki is trying to get Dems to cross over and thwart not just President Trump, but all the MAGA and America First people. PDJT turned down big money because he didn’t want to owe anyone any favors. Whereas, Nikki is taking money from people who will want to control her — and us.
President Trump does well among most demographics including lapsed Democrats (sorta like lapsed Catholics).

I’m totally bummed about essentially ending her candidacy.
New Hampshire is a purple state at best. The Democrats and Never Trumpers joined forces and still lost by 11 points.
I believe we need to see if any vote changing occurs between midnight and 3am. They will have to clear the polling places and come back in to flip votes. I don’t put this past them. Once they say that 99% of the votes are counted, we need to see how many votes pour in from each polling place after that. Look for the large population centers to do the most vote flipping and finding of uncounted ballots. If the Trump camp is savvy enough, they will have these places covered like a blanket. But I saw over 300,000 votes for Biden counted in clumps after the counting was supposedly suspended in the middle of the night in Michigan. They will do anything because they think trillions are at stake. If Trump can prevent most of it, he will win by a large margin with at least 58% of the vote. The time to rejoice will be tomorrow morning, if Trump is still winning big!

Rochester ward 2 denied my girlfriend the Republican primary ballot – they had her listed as a Democrat. They said she could either vote Democrat or not at all.
We had to go to the Rochester city clerk and pull the voter records demonstrating she took a Republican primary ballot in 2022.
It took an extra extended period of time, driving all over town, and multiple arguments to fix this – a problem that should have been able to be handled at the polls with a phone call, but poll personnel refused.
She finally cast her ballot for @realDonaldTrump.
In conversation with the clerk it was stated that this was the second incident of erroneous voting problems brought to her office today. It also appears this might not be the first time her party affiliation spontaneously changed. Another couple came into the clerks office while we were there that also seemed to be experiencing election problems.
