(Des Moines) – “There’s no path for me to be the next president, absent things we don’t want to see happen in this country,” he said in a speech announcing that he was suspending his campaign after coming in 4th place in the Iowa Caucuses.
Ramaswamy said the next president must be an “America First” president. He said he would throw his support behind former President Donald Trump.
As he announced he was ending his bid, Ramaswamy had 8,093 votes, or 7.7%, in the Republican caucuses with 91% of votes reporting. (MORE)

Did anyone else catch that Pres.Trump said in his victory speech Kari Lake will be a great Senator? I take that to mean that she is not the VP choice. There was very little applause when he said that and he seems surprised. I am one of those who want her to be VP, not senator.
All well and good, but if she has a legitimate shot at getting elected to the Senate that would be huge to help drive things for POTUS Trump and his America First agenda. A VP means nothing in the grand scheme. She seems like the sort of pitbull that we need in Congress. And it might set her up for POTUS in four years. Gotta think long term. There are plenty of others for the VP slot.

As a Maricopa County voter I want Lake as our Senator, not Trump’s VP. Right now we’re stuck with the usurper Hobbs instead of the rightful Governor, Lake. We have two Democrat Senators who vote in lockstep with Biden leaving our borders open. Sinema is up for re-election and being challenged by Democrat Ruben Gallegos who is among the worst of the worst. Kari Lake is our best shot to take back that seat for Republicans.
Even though Lake is very popular (same as when she ran for AZ Governor) we now have Cartel lawyer and rabid MAGA hater, Adrian Fontes, as our Secretary of State along with the same group of corrupt election officials that rigged 2022 running the 2024 election so the Republican candidate needs to be a heavy lifter and fighter. I’ve seen your opinions on Vivek all over this thread. What would it do to your opinion of Trump if he chose Vivek to help him in some way, such as “campaign water boy” as you state? If people like you, and many others, see Vivek as poison, why wouldn’t Trump also see him in the same light? Is there something we are missing, information we don’t have, etc? I admit that I do my best to navigate all the stuff we see, read, hear and experience and try to establish a reasonable position while remaining principled, but I also realize I do not know it all. It is not always easy to figure this stuff out, which can be frustrating because it has such big implications.

I cannot tell tone from comments, but it seems like you are coming at me aggressively or in an agitated state. I’m not sure why if you are. I’m not debating anything or anyone. And it is never good to assume anything of anyone, especially when nothing they have typed indicates that you can make an assumption. In as calm a manner as I can, I’m asking a simple question, not just of you, but it’s a question left over from the first term of Trump in a way. Your response above is even more reason for my question.
If Trump said Vivek is not MAGA, why would Trump use Vivek as his “campaign water boy” as you said? And if he did, what would your opinion of Trump be then? I get a sense that there is a fear that Trump will end up being surrounded by non-MAGA and enemies, just like his first term. I get that concern and I sure as heck hope it doesn’t happen. But if Trump selects people to help that we don’t like or agree with, have had sketchy pasts or even when Trump has directly called them out and says “they are not MAGA”, what should one do about it?

Really? Vivek could end up being one of the single most important people in foreign relations with his background. Think. India is poised to become one of the next world powers and they are not communists. Having India as an ally is very important to counter China and VR could be key.
Can you imagine the world if Trump were to withdraw from NATO and the same time gets a trade and security treaty with Russia that says we work together with mutual interests and bring India into that alliance? I would start Vivek out as an ambassador to India and let him learn.
