The most watched CNN broadcast in all of 2023 was a townhall with President Donald Trump.
Last night as President Trump appeared on Fox News and Ron DeSantis/Nikki Haley held a debate, the audience for Trump almost doubled the CNN audience for Haley/DeSantis.

I generally agree here, but look at how they both have performed. I think Trump would have mopped the floor with Nikki on substance and proven far to charismatic for DeSantis on style. The juxtaposition on that stage would have done wonders.
I totally get why Trump sat these out (I don’t blame him at all), but man the bold move of showing up, I think, would be providing massive dividends right now.
@PTC, let’s say for argument Pres. Trump debated both of them. By doing so he’d raise their visibility and their a handlers in the RNC would try to force them onto Pres. Trump as a VP.
Think of it like this, not every fight needs to use Tactical Nuclear Weapons (i.e, Pres. Trump) and some fights don’t need to be fought.

The Libs in the building started leaving nasty notes on the monitors, “Bushitler” that sort of thing, so the property manager switched to CNN. The Righties in the building started protesting back. So they switched to Bloomberg 😂. After about 3-4 months of The Great Elevator Wars they switched to PowerPoint slideshow building announcements and Muzak.

That is me. I have never returned to Fox News after the early call and I was a 16 hr a day FNN junkie from about ’05 – whenever it was that they stabbed our President. I dropped Beck long before that and even dropped Rush for a yr or two after the Cruz BS. Thankfully I returned to Rush a few months before he passed.

About 8% of the country will be watching. The point is, whether sports or politics, how many care? OTH, the 4.3 million who watched the town hall is a small fraction of the 80+ million who voted for him.

I note that among them, there is a great reluctance to give President Trump the honorific of “president,” as if not doing so will have the effect of rewriting recent history so that it didn’t actually happen.

This would hopefully be a comparison of the pro vs anti Trump percentages in the Repug Party as of now. The Repugs are doing everything they can to bolster every anti Trump candidate before the Old Hampshire primary. New Hampshire has always been an independent voting State but the Demcommies are being encouraged to vote as Repugs in the primary. They will all vote for the uni-party favorites, which is why all three of them are being bolstered in the polls. The way to prevent a debacle like this is bad weather, and that seems to be going on schedule so far. I am hoping for the newly minted catastrophic bomb cyclone blizzard, which is actually a low level snow storm with high winds and therefore mostly drifting snow. New Hampshire is used to this at this time of year, but Demcommies are far less enthusiastic when the weather is not conducive to their causes. What makes Trump so different in these settings is the natural ease and ability to connect in a funny way. I think this is the advantage of the elder statesman. They tend to just know who they are, what they believe, and that provides confidence. There are some downsides to having the elderly in power, but one benefit is situations like Trump (or Reagan). They simply appear not to care who they impress. They know who they are.
