As I understand it, the idea is that after a hidden court FISA warrant, and ONLY if they were investigating terrorism or espionage, could they use 702 about searches, with 3 hop rule to access the NSA database, which has every email, text, phone call, etc.
WE are NOT going to get rid if such a system, so,..amend it to include additional categories; investigating organised election fraud/manipulation, creating a false pretence for a Special Council investigation in order to drive a POTUS from office, setting up a fake insurrection narrative in order to circumvent the election certification process, and conducting a fake pandemic responce.
I bet a bunch of people would oppose such broadening of the parameters,..and because OF this thinking, I am suspiscious of efforts to NOW put in “addirional safeguards to prevent it from beingvused against American citisens”.

America First/MAGA Movement
I just don’t see an America First/MAGA movement in the U.S. It’s not really discussed in the media vs the current direction of the country. It’s not polled vs the direction the country is going, there are few Republicans in Congress that even mention this movement and it’s demonized by its opponents as some sort of White Supremacy movement.
President Trump is the leader of the movement and talks about it often. But his opponents try to just focus on him and demonize him and constantly poll him vs Biden or him vs ?? It’s never about why people support him so much. He is challenging the DC Establishment and corruption that is our government institutions. That’s why 75M to 100M citizens support him and want him to win.
I see Establishment trying to jail him, keep him off ballots and constantly demonize him because they do not want it to be America First policies vs current Establishment policies. They will lose that argument because, IMO, the vast majority of our citizens do not like the direction of our country.
I’m kinda a Johnny One Note on this, but I wish we had additional leadership to define and promote MAGA on the national scale and change the conversation from Trump is bad to our country is failing and we need America First policies. There is no debating this that I see or even defining and promoting it on a national scale.
If they are somehow successful keeping President Trump off the 2024 election then they win. It’s much easier for them, I believe, to focus their energy on somehow defeating President Trump than defeating what citizens would prefer-America First policies.
Just frustrated watching all this go down with the super weak Republicans and corrupt Republicans that are complicit and the media and DOJ trying to take President Trump out as a candidate.

My only purpose was to note my frustration with, it seems, a lack of urgency of explaining, promoting, and defending the MAGA movement and it has primarily fallen on President Trumps shoulders.

Mark, what I like to do — and imagine if just 20 million people also did — is decide every day to do -one- simple small thing to further MAGA. It doesn’t have to be huge or time-consuming. Could be talking for ten minutes in person with just one person, sending a small donation, writing a letter, making a phone call, researching what can be done locally and taking a step toward getting involved and then getting involved, being brave enough to speak up, doing some fact research on a topic and having the “elevator speech”, going to a political meeting, forwarding an important article via email, pushing back against something that is unjust.
Every little bit helps.

I heard someone on Sean Hannity saying that Trump should do a rally in Maine because Maine and New Hampshire are Battleground states. This got me thinking, and I did a deep dive at 538 and RCP and looked at their state level data. The only Deep Blue state with polling this cycle is Massachusetts. Delaware, DC, NJ, and HI don’t have any polling this cycle. All the rest of the states are withing 15 ish points or less. The new Battleground states ARE Maine, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Colorado, New Mexico, and Virginia. Even California and New York are within a really good stretch Possible

The House Judiciary Committee approved a bill Wednesday that would add a warrant requirement to a powerful spy authority, striking a bipartisan tone on a panel that’s often known for party-line acrimony.
The panel voted 35-2 to advance amended legislation that would renew Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act for three more years but would insert a warrant requirement when it comes to information on Americans, with certain exceptions.
Those exemptions include situations where there’s an emergency involving an “imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm,” and situations in which a “cybersecurity threat signature” is used as a search term to prevent harm from malicious software.
The bill would also “drastically” lower the number of FBI officials who are authorized to conduct a search of a U.S. person, according to a House Judiciary Committee advisory.

Another requirement to gain authorization for a search isn’t going to fix the overwhelmingly broken system where UNauthorized searches already are rampant.
