Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

EVENING REFLECTIONS
We should all sleep easier in our beds, sis, knowing His mercies are new each day, giving humble thanks for them at the end of every one.

Trump Swing-State Lead Expected To Hold Until 3 A.M. On Election Night | Babylon Bee
My hens aren’t over their molt yet and would gladly take even cast off goodwill togs at the moment. They’re hilarious to look at right now.
We had a peacock which adopted us in Wales, a refugee from a farm not far from us which kept all sorts of fowl. It must have gotten too crowded for him.
Anyway he’d molt twice a year and look so vulnerable and pathetic. He’d leave his dignity all over the garden here and there. But when his plumage grew back? Oh my!! He was gorgeous…and he knew it.
My 15 year old granddaughter shops at Goodwill and has come away looking as if she stepped right off the French catwalk for little $$$. Better than when she buys in the more expensive shops if you can imagine.
Have a look! Bet you could outfit your brood for next to nothing 😉😁😂
There are always good things to be found if you know how to look.
You betcha! 😘
The sizes are the issue. Off sizes are plenty but some of the common are few. Still good deals.
My wife of 30 years and I laugh often about my attire when I courted her. I was in school and had no money literally $50 a month after rent, for food, gas clothes. No heat, no a/c, old percolator coffee pot and I brewed grounds a week straight, if I had coffee.
Well, goodwill was my place.
I won $50 for selling more memberships at the gym where I worked so I asked her out. I was crazy in love with this woman, crazy, still am. I got a date, had $50 and went to good will bought gray corduroy pants about two inches to short, plastic cowboy boots and had a gray long sleeve, it was summer. 100 degree plus summer.
Black 1979 trans am powered blue interior and no a/c. needed no key to start. I smelled of goodwill clothes, and exhaust, the car had that classic GM interior stink from sweat and fumes.
Anyway, lots more to the story but, we laugh about the clothes. Goodwill yay.
Such a beautiful story, Palerider. When we look back and think how little we had in worldly goods and reflect, it’s a thing to consider we were probably richer than we realized.
Here’s to you and your lovely bride, dear sir…💕
This isn’t to brag … because Lord knows I have very little cause to brag about much … but long after the many years I spent volunteering for a Christian Youth Group called Young Life … I played guitar, was a camp counselor, organized weekly “clubs”,and did many activities with HS kids … I have had several kids come up to me as adults and tell me that something I said/did was hugely meaningful in their lives. They recounted in perfect detail an interaction I had long forgot … and told me how much it meant to them.
Yes … every little thing … no matter how insignificant … matters. IMHO … that’s why we’re here. To do Mitzvahs for each other. Did I get that right David? Can a Gentile do a Mitzvah?
You can’t help them all but you can help one or two. That’s the way it is.
Simply speaking to teenagers like they matter and like you see them as an equal, impacts some small number.
Absolutely. In my classroom I have a postcard-sized item that says, Teenagers are human beings too. I don’t point it out, it just is a message to the 9-12th graders I teach.
The latest challenge is teaching simple civilization stuff. Don’t take stuff that isn’t yours, poking people is not a joke (especially with a compass), be quiet when someone is talking. It’s being a long year. Sigh.
We do and give what and where we are able, Kenji. Those kids remembered and will no doubt one day be in a position to help someone else, remembering how you helped them.
You were the pebble in the lake. The ripples will be spreading far and wide, my friend 😘👍🏻
One of life’s best experiences, Kenji. I occasionally still have students who took my classes from years ago who remember things we talked about and tell me how those ideas affected them. Its always a bit humbling. 🙂
I occasionally will be out and get wrapped in a bearhug from a young man who is a total stranger. Twice it was a waiter at different restaurants. I laugh and inform the individual that while I might look “the same” the person hugging me does not.
A twenty-something is light years from the 11 or 12 year old I once taught. It is so endearing to continue to matter to former students.
This year I met a mom (former student) of a current student at Back to School Night. The mom told me I was her favorite teacher. True or not– it warms my heart. I am blessed to be a teacher. Education — not indoctrination is what I do.
God bless the children-young ones — and those who are all grown up.💕🙏
Homerun, Bet !!! 🙂
Oh bless, Garrison. Love ya! 🤗💕
Ah yes, farm and ranch country etiquette, if it’s closed ensure it’s the same when you leave. If it’s open leave it that way.
This is especially true on all the BLM and National Forest lands which may be leased to a rancher or interspersed with private holdings. Even if it seems like there’s no livestock in sight and not much fence…lol
Same in Wales, monti. There are public footpaths tyere , some of which run through farmers’ fields. Rabid ramblers (walkers) will insist on walking through with little to no thought for a farmer’s livestock which might be occupying them, often leaving gates open. Thoughtless in the extreme. But then they are almost always “city dwellers” with no sense of rural life or industry. Here they’d all vote Democrat…guaranteed.
Treehouse humor is the best!
It really, truly, absolutely, without a doubt is, Dave 😁👍🏻
Symbolism is still important. Those who understand that … understand life
And, Betsy … let me add that I tend to be a little hard edged and cynical … and not a huge fan of cat videos and the like … and “ Hang In There Baby” posters make me cringe … but your creativity … in the images and messages you present are a serious cut above. I actually look forward to what you post … I have no idea how one dives for all these treasures on the internets.
I am in awe of the clever people who put these images together. I have an unusual sense of humour so things which strike me as funny might not appeal to others I do understand. I try to keep that in mind before I hit the “send” button
But I must tell you, Kenji. I find these little gems and many times discover a situation where it’s almost as if I was meant to find them for a moment or a person, so perfect are they. This has happened over and over. I’m not a believer in coincidences as you may know, or serendipity for that matter. Make of that what you will…as I have done.
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment, dear sir. I’ll keep on hunting 😘

Same, nim. This country owes him and all the vets who returned, physically and mentally injured. It is our sacred duty to do so. And a duty which every government has disgracefully failed in upholding.

Uh-oh, now I am crying! 🙏💕🇺🇲
I’ve been in Auburndale, FL. My folks lived just a couple miles east of there in north Winter Haven. Amtrak goes through Auburndale on the run south (west) of Orlando and actually splits at Auburndale to go either west to Tampa or south to West Palm Beach & Miami. That entire area around Auburndale / Winter Haven was very laid back and quiet, low cost easy living back in the ’90s / early 00’s. IDK what it’s like today.
There were a LOT of WWII vets still around back in the ’90s. My father was one and had several ‘buddies’ in his senior mobile home park. Four of them were all the same age- called themselves the Boys of ’22………
They’re all gone now.
My father’s parents lived in Palmetto in a trailer park, GB. They farmed in Illinois and retired there. And thinking on, I’m unsure if his dad served, but if so it would have been in WWI. Terrible times for those who fought. To have companionship with those in later life who went through as well and came home would have been a very elite club.
Salute to the Boys of ’22!!

I have been curious about the hospital in Gaza, Al Shifa…I found a website that seems to be it.:

Previously, it looks nice….but has been alleged to been a hiding place since 2014 if wiki is correct.

“These 70 Republicans Just Rewarded The FBI With New Headquarters Worth $375 Million”
https://thefederalist.com/2023/11/10/these-70-republicans-just-rewarded-the-fbi-with-new-headquarters-worth-375-million/
We like Matt Gaetz, but the problem is he’s a lawyer with no real world business experience. Someone else who worked in corporate America could have shut down all arguments by making two points.
1) American businesses that own their buildings budget for and pay for maintenance on their buildings from their revenues. Why hasn’t the FBI budgeted for repairs all of these years in their budgets instead of running the properties into the ground? American businesses that own their buildings budget for and pay for NEW buildings from their budget that was set aside for that purpose. American businesses don’t have taxpayers money to fix or replace their properties any time they think their building is disposable.
2) American businesses that lease their buildings budget for and pay the lessors (property managers) maintenance on their buildings. If a company wants a new building it must wait until the lease expires and then find another suitable lease. Again American businesses don’t have taxpayers money to fix or replace their properties any time they think their building is disposable.
He should have ended by saying the federal government owns thousands of unoccupied buildings all over America. The FBI can take their pick instead of asking for a new palace larger than the pentagon.
Game, set. match.

Branco forgot the bald one from Boston.
When my dad was a young pup, he worked on some US flagged merchant ships during WW2….
He told of standing on the rail, watching the torpedoes zoom by in the water…and another story of having to abandon ship….he actually has photos taken by him, going down Jacob’s ladder, and from the lifeboat…showing the progression of the ship sinking…I have no idea who picked them up…
Two things…life on shipboard is always tenuous….AND….the youth of the world will always try and get a photograph.

Five O’Clock World
– The Vogues
We’ve all seen it, but I post it here again as a reminder of the honorable intentions of our men and women under arms:
It is the Soldier, not the minister, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
