Someone once swore to me that a person very close to DeSantis was intentionally undermining his effort because they quietly disliked (immensely) the fraudulent operation surrounding this long-planned 2024 presidential bid. I laughed it off, but they were very serious. As time goes on, and these subtle exhibitions of his authentically stupid persona surface, I no longer dismiss that prior statement.

When meeting a man, many women will glance down at his footwear. Why? Because footwear says a lot about the man filling them. Do they match the color of the outfit? Are they in good repair or scuffed as if they have walked 1000 miles? Are they appropriate for the occasion? Are they obviously cheap and shabby or do they make statement about his status? Shoes denote self image and the image he wishes to project. IOW does this man CARE about the way he is viewed by others who will naturally judge him initially by his appearance?
For some, footwear is just necessary fitment to protect feet, and appearance is not important, everything boils down to utility and possibly economics.
For others, image is most important. Women and some men.
Maintaining that image is very expensive and impractical.
Cowboy boots are very expensive and impractical for anything other than old school ranching etc. They are heavy, clunky, sweaty, not suitable for walking or hiking or anything else besides ranching, really.
And no rancher would wear those boots to work cattle. Once you have ’em in the pin and you’re trying to get them moved to the chute, you need something that lets you move and climb faster!
A lot of working ranchers couldn’t afford anything like those anyway… This guy just needs to go away. Make like Pence and fade into the distant background.
Untrue. There is nothing more comfortable than a cowboy boot. We had a large, concrete-floored warehouse at our business that we put many miles daily on our feet across it. The only shoe we found after buying many different “comfort” shoes and insoles that were actually comfortable and would not cause our feet to need soaking at the end of the day were our boots.
Make it a Z-Coil and it’s even better!
I couldn’t survive without that massive spring heel, all my shoes are Z-Coils, except my house shoes and slippers are Hoka, highly recommend both to anyone suffering from pain, stem to stern they make all the difference.
My DH was the only person I knew who used shoe polish and a brush to keep his dress shoes polished and looking nice. I notice men’s footwear. Now 90% of the time they are wearing sneakers. Glad I don’t have a store selling men’s dress shoes. I’d go broke.
I always get a little put out seeing a crowd of men on TV, none of whom have any sense of style – all wearing sneakers with dress pants and jackets. Terry Bradshaw is one of the rare exceptions, but of course he’s older like me.
IMHO, cowboy boots (well-fitting boots worn by normal people) always look a whole lot better with a suit that sneakers ever will. Especially the non-white sneakers with white soles. Ugh. Just dumb.

My beloved wears cowboy boots for music events – he also wears gorgeous vests and sometimes a bolo. But he has taste and wears far simpler boots than the Ron! ones – and we both love dressing up for stage. Plus he’s tall and large enough to wear such outfits well.
The boots don’t fit. Normally they fit the foot like a glove.
Cowboy boots don’t fit that way.
There will always be a little slippage and drop every time one raises their foot.
The most critical fit other than length of foot is how they fit over the top of the foot a ways forward of the ankle, get it right and it’s comfortable and stays on, otherwise it either hurts from too tight or tries to fall off if too loose.

I get what you’re saying, but I’ve been to 41 states and have found well-worn cowboy boots in just about all of them. I’ve worn cowboy boots in a few. But my boots (and most I’ve seen by far) looked natural, very normal (not seeming out of place at all no matter where I was) – as opposed to what I’ve seen above and in other places in this conversation. First the pant legs are so high it draws attention (for many of us) and then one starts looking closer, and the closer one looks, the wronger it is. DeRonboi just needs to give it up.
