Against the backdrop of Douglass Mackey (aka Ricky Vaughn) being sentenced to seven months in prison for a Twitter meme, and with the state having unlimited financial resources to drag the Lawfare trial out for months, and with a stacked jury likely in Fulton County, GA, lawyers representing Sidney Powell negotiated a misdemeanor plea deal which Powell has accepted.
The Fulton County DA drops all seven felony charges and with the plea Ms. Powell will serve probation, no jail time.
(VIA AP) – […] Powell, who was charged alongside Trump and 17 others with violating the state’s anti-racketeering law, entered the plea just a day before jury selection was set to start in her trial. She pleaded guilty to six misdemeanors accusing her of conspiring to intentionally interfere with the performance of election duties.
As part of the deal, she will serve six years of probation, will be fined $6,000 and will have to write an apology letter to Georgia and its residents. She also recorded a statement for prosecutors and agreed to testify truthfully against her co-defendants at future trials.
Powell was initially charged with racketeering and six other counts as part of a wide-ranging scheme to keep the Republican president in power after he lost the 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden. Prosecutors say she also participated in an unauthorized breach of elections equipment in a rural Georgia county elections office.
[…] She was about to go on trial on with lawyer Kenneth Chesebro after each filed a demand for a speedy trial. Jury selection was still set to begin Friday for Chesebro to go on trial by himself, though prosecutors said earlier that they also planned to look into the possibility of offering him a plea deal.
Jury selection was set to start Friday. Chesebro’s attorneys didn’t immediately respond to messages seeking comment Thursday on whether he would also accept a plea deal.
A lower-profile defendant in the case, bail bondsman Scott Graham Hall, last month pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor charges. He was sentenced to five years of probation and agreed to testify in further proceedings.
Steve Sadow, the lead attorney for Trump in the Georgia case, expressed confidence that Powell’s plea wouldn’t hurt his own client’s case.
“Assuming truthful testimony in the Fulton County case, it will be favorable to my overall defense strategy,” he said. (read more)
I am sure that Ms. Powell did what she feels is in her best interest.
After all, the scales of Lawfare justice always tilt left.
Read the pleadings.
The Fulton County DA lied to the court repeatedly about the law.
They hid exculpatory evidence from the grand jury (violating the prosecutor's oath to do justice).
And now the felonies vanish on the eve of trial. Totally unjust prosecution.

Important perspective:

Thanks for the Hinderaker article. Helps a lot.
Screw the lefty media and their headlines. Have a look at the three-part series of edits that the lefty media’s Crown Jewel New York Times ran about the Hamas missile misfire and the Gaza hospital … then decide if lefty media headlines are worth the time it takes to read them.
Techno wrote this breakdown on what Powell WON’T do, which will make lefty media apoplectic:

Thank you T2020.
“…Today, Sidney Powell accepted a plea agreement from the Fulton County District Attorney, pleading to six counts of “Conspiracy to Commit Intentional Interference with Performance of Election Duties.”
Those are all misdemeanors. She faces six years of probation, a $6,000 fine, and has to pay $2,700 in restitution.
Call that a win for the defense. Here’s why….”
So the marxist US regime, it’s WH, uniparty, crooked lawyers, media, and federal agencies win again.
Was Lyn Wood right? Living close to Palm Beach County there so many GRIFTERS around the Trump team. When the times get really bad what will they still support our President Trump? As a activist and leader since 2009 I have seen it happen all about money and power. Prayer for President Trump and our Republic.
. Totally unjust prosecution ? No sir its a persecution and the process in the punishment . I do however feel a bit better after reading Techno Fog’s complete assessment. https://technofog.substack.com/p/prediction-sidney-powell-wont-be?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=274771&post_id=138121605&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=24m5xy&utm_medium=email
Much work to do, getting corruption out of our court systems.
When I think of election interference, first that comes to mind are courts failing to prosecute, actual interference like fake dossiers!!
Like street criminals! But the government ones are the worst!
I have to believe Ms. Powell is part of a team. Her taking the plea here may have to do with timing. The timing may not be right to set the stage in motion for the big reveal of all the corruption in Georgia.
I don’t have it all gamed out but I’m guessing the team Ms. Powell is part of does. When preparing to drop the net, timing is very important to ensure you snare the entire school. In this case, when you are trying to communicate to the masses and awaken them (court of public opinion), it’s also very important to ensure the world is watching.
Right now is not the time to unleash the “Kraken”.
That sure looks like a gun pushed against …
Oh! You said I’m looking in wrong direction. Where? I can’t quite make it out.
Seems that happens a lot lately.
I’m glad to see that, unlike other places like Gateway Pundit and Instapundit, there hasn’t been too much unfounded speculation about Sidney Powell being a part of some deeper cabal to sabotage or bring down Trump.
Without getting too far into the specifics or giving any confidences away, I have been — shall we say — “adjacent” to her case for the last 2+ years.
I live in the swamp and often do swampy type work, but am not “of” the swamp. I’m one of us, on the inside. I work on all sorts of things related to the huge political maelstroms of the last few years — I helped represent Stacey Abrams, Gov. Cuomo in his sexual harassment situation and even did some consulting on the Cambridge Analytica matter. I’ve even seen a fair bit of Jeffrey Epstein related things that aren’t public knowledge lol. Even as we speak I am working on stuff relating directly to online censorship practices of the usual suspects.
I play generally bit parts in all this, but i’m a cog in that machinery. It pays the bills. I don’t look at it from a partisan angle anyway. Work is work.
Regarding Ms. Powell, I can state with 100 percent certainty based on knowledge that, while not firsthand, is as close as one can get to firsthand via someone I know who has been in daily, near constant contact with her, that there is NOTHING untoward or nefarious or deeper to read into her guilty plea.
She has been scared shitless and terrified and extremely distraught over her legal jeopardy. Like, beside herself most of the time.
It has to be a huge relief and a giant weight off her chest to finally be done with this mess.
She took a HUGE arrow for the MAGA team and we should all be appreciative of her enormous personal sacrifice.
And yet when Flynn did the same thing under the same circumstances, she corruptly and dishonestly pretended not to know what Flynn had done. And she pretended, apparently, in order to sell her book and to become a hero. In the process, Flynn upon her counsel filed papers which in effect admitted perjury, placing him in worse jeopardy than his plea put him in.
Powell had no valid legal argument with Flynn, so she made political arguments. Think what you will about Sullivan, but he went out of his way to get Powell to address the legal issues, and she did not.
The real issue is how the government in EVERY jurisdiction coerces people to commit perjury (admit to something they did not do) to escape the risk of outlandish punishment. This is an issue which is categorically ignored by all, but which needs to be addressed.
But if you plead guilty under such circumstances, have the “integrity” to stick by your perjury. When you try to undo it (“I was railroaded!”) you will NOT succeed, and you might very well make things worse. Powell saw fame and money, made things worse, and was rescued by a third party.
Will Powell, in the future, claim this present plea was unknowing and involuntary? We all know why she did it, exactly as you said. Will she let some charlatan lawyer in the future make money and become famous by going into court and pretending Powell did not know what she was doing, like Powell did with Flynn?
You know where this is headed. Lawfare at its finest.
Why wasn’t Attorney Lin Wood indicted?
From what I have read on various sites Atty Wood chose to retire and never practice law again – that’s one heck of a plea bargain, to quietly go away never to be heard from again. Last I read he also moved to South Carolina so maybe that plea-that-wasn’t-a-plea included leaving the State of Georgia.
Anyone who has been involved in the system knows Many plead guilty without being guilty because they don’t have the financial resources to go the distance like the government can which jss in limited resources.
Now what kind of sleaze is that?
I am NOT impressed with Sydney. I really bought into her whole narrative… then boom! She was hanging with Patrick Byrne. & General Flynn do you think they colluded to entrap President Trump?
She tried when NO FILTHY Senator or Congressman didn’t. Snakes like Byrne is a Paid CIA Spook, so is that Gearbox, Thiel.
Bunch of Vipers.
I admire the courage of Sydney Powell.
Who are you to Judge?
I still admire Sidney Powell. Her action I completely understand and it underlines just how remarkable DJT is.
Whilst Jan 6th protestors rot in jail. No, not pleased. That blood for the tree of liberty is our blood not the leftist blood, the tree dies unless you want to drain all the leftist blood. Somewhere in the process leftists become conservatives, if you take that approach. Just like our “conservatives” who are leftists now when faced with hard choices. Greed.
Ya Got one life and one death, the outcome is dependent upon those choices.
According to atty. Lin Wood, Sydney Powell misled him multiple times.
She added his name to several suits, in different states, without informing him.
Apparently all of her petitions are poorly written, so bad that it appears to be intentional.
Trump never took her advise and at least once publicly stated she was not on his legal team.
Something is not right with Sydney Powell and Trump seems to have known all along. He did not take the Powell/Byrne bait.
I think Powell committed no crime but agreed to the misdemeanor to save money. Government, whether local, state, or Fed have the ability to tie people up for long times and keep them forced to paying Lawyers no matter if they are guilty or innocent. Willis does not care about people and the county she serves has for crime as Willis is not going after that crime instead of Trump.
Powell blocked an early trial for Pres Trump by going for speedy trial. If second
Defendant pleads. That would free calendar. If Willis tries to squeeze in Trump before fed Trial in March. Fed,Trial will be hopelessly delayed. So Jack to will tell Fannie to wait.
I heard it takes six months to a year just to pick a jury in this type of case in Ga.
Still stand with the prediction that no case will be brought to verdict until after the election.
I don’t think Willis is prepared for trial but trial won’t start until a jury is picked Sidney can’t pay for attorney’s fees for that long.
Fani is as messed up about the federal Electoral Count Act (ECA) as Powell was messed up with Georgia’s election statutes, and the states have more election laws than the federal government. Fani’s mess ups include:
It is not fraud for there to be “more than one paper,” both purporting to be the votes of the Electors for one state. The ECA states that could happen and there apparently isn’t anything unusual about it. Once there was a practical joke “Certificate of Votes” submitted and no one was punished for it.RICO requires a conspiracy. A conspiracy naturally requires secrecy, yet POLITICO told all about the “Alternate Electors” of Trump in December 2020, and published an entire article about all the things Trump might be planning to do with those electors’ votes, and even declared Pence to be the wildcard in that event. With Trump doing everything completely in the open, I don’t understand how anyone can accuse those people of conspiracy in this matter.

So I have read two different articles about this and neither one state exactly what it is that Sidney Powell said or did that is consider racketeering. Both articles say what she is charged with, but nothing about the actual action.
Correct me, if I am wrong or overlooking something about Sidney Powell, Please.
Knowing how vehemently Sidney Powell has criticized crooked and corrupt United States Attorneys and other legal professionals, I find it extremely difficult to believe that she would do or say anything remotely resembling corruption. She knows that after the books she has written, speeches she has made, and interviews she has participated in; that she is living in a very beautiful and expensive Glass House.
So, Please; I would honestly like to know exactly what Sidney Powell said or did, not the charges, but the actual words or actions she committed that is racketeering.
She did not plead to anything remotely connected to anything akin to racketeering.
She only plead to silly charges related to after the fact paying for some work that the Georgian corruptocrats subsequently portrayed as election interference/denial.
See the excellent Technofog article linked several times in this very thread.
Almost always at this late stage in a thread, with many pages of comments, almost any question one can ask has likely already been answered several times over; reading entire comment threads at CTH is often as productive as the initial post and highly recommended.
I read the 172 page deposition SP gave, hence the late post. My take is that SP is as patriotic American as possible…God Bless her…
