Some of the Israel/Gaza “battle images” are several years old and from sources such as Egypt and Syria, or the war a few years ago where Hamas fired rockets int0 israel.
Google up some Firstpoint reportage from an Indian woman, Palki Sharma, who is clearly the best journalist on the planet at the moment. Illuminating, factual, analytical and unbiased.
To the point here,in one brief segment she shown and sources a series of FAKE Israel/Hamas images, just a few, but enough to make the point that images on social media is being used to spin opinion and urging viewers to vet their sources.

Since WW2 in every major conflict we have treated every living soul the same, total war/absolute destruction usually by air power. Basically an attempt to bludgeon the enemy into submission. Exactly what is happening in Gaza, where the death toll of civilians must be horrendous.
The Russians in Ukraine are not doing that, they seem, apart from almost inevitable errors, to be just targeting military locations, astonishingly the nightlife of Kiev seems to be fairly normal and trainloads of western politicians come in and out. Compare that to Mosul.

The problem the Israelis and by association the US have now is that unless they wipe out the Gaza population they will, as now, face the same problem again in 17 or so years time when the next generation grows up with no hope and turns to violence. But if they try that the rest of the Arab world and ME is unlikely to stand idly by.

Thank you Judy. This situation touches my soul. Some of the dearest people in my life and living in Israel, directly impacted by this. I have spent days fearing for their lives. I don’t want them to be harmed, but I also disagree with Israel’s use of white phosphorus and the blockade preventing civilians from escaping to Egypt.
I imagine how I would react if this was my country and I was fighting for my and my children’s existence. I think of what Palestinians (or those who have crossed the border) would do to my daughters. I will do everything in my power to protect them. But I hope that any desire I may have for revenge would not cause me to lose my own soul and I would never consider killing a baby because of something an adult did.
There is a time for war. There is righteousness in it. But there is also genocide and crimes against humanity and I’m seeing too much of that from both sides this week.

Watched some videos from Gaza of the hostages. It was very painful. Hamas soldiers with toddlers, bloodied & raped women, soldier with the pulp beat out of them, & 7 year old boys being bullied by older boys. One can only imagine the fear and dread they’re experiencing. Gut wrenching.

I actually was referring to the historical “failures” and not this Israel-Hamas incident. I truly have only seen one credible explanation (it was speculation from an insider) and the idea presented was that the attack was launched as a surprise because Hamas saw the music festival as an ideal target, close to Gaza and full of unsuspecting, unarmed soft targets.
The speculation was that Iran, despite funding and training Hamas terrorists, was not in on this particular plan since it was conceived quickly (within past week or two) and executed opportunistically.
Yes the theory has holes but the fact is that there wasn’t much of a defense force near the music festival to drive away the attackers.

Many are demanding a proportional or measured response to the attacks on Israeli citizens on 10-7. I hate words like proportional, they are subjective, however, in this case, I believe we can quantify proportional somewhat based on past agreements between the parties.
Israelis and Hamas have been exchanging prisoners for decades, typically, Hamas will get 1-4,000 prisoners for 1 Israeli.
Assuming a proportional response based upon the accepted rate of exchange by both parties, we can arrive at a base response number, then we can add some penalties for violations of the Geneva convention and other international agreements as well as Israeli laws.
If we do some basic math and accept the low end at 1,000 Israelis per Hamas animal, with over 1,000 Israelis dead, Israel needs to destroy 1,000,000 Hamas animals at least.
But there should be some penalties, after this action, the price certainly goes up, there must be penalties and so forth.
Killing 50-75% of the so called Palestinians is too much for the international community of Jew haters to bear, so I would propose that instead of getting the proportional justice, Israel gives the Palestinians a chance to live if they agree to the following terms:
