Too bad, if the society had been striving for a longer life-span instead of money we would have been in an excellent position to achieve a much longer life. I was an imaging tech and clinical medical assistant. I was in the room hundreds of times as part of care teams when patients or their families were told there was nothing more to do medically, that death was inevitable. In my experience it was very rare for any patient with a terminal diagnosis to accept the probability of approaching death when first told. With very few exceptions, they and their loved ones all went through some version of the Kubler-Ross stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance). For that reason, I must disagree with your first paragraph assumption that the rich, powerful men you named and the entire generation of “Boomers” will become genocidal. Yes, they will get angry about having to die. But that’s only one step on the path to acceptance of the inevitable, which the vast majority ALSO achieved before they actually died.
I do not believe a life span of more than 120 years can ever be achieved. As wonderful machines as bodies are, the materials and systems all break down. Brain tissue literally liquifies. Skeletons become brittle and disintegrate. There’s basically no immune response above 90, so any kind of systemic infection, even a cold, can kill. It’s all physics. We aren’t made of titanium or reinforced concrete. We’re mostly water, adaptable and useful, but impermanent and vulnerable to pollutants.
So to me the efforts and emphasis should not be focused on having a LONGER life, but instead upon achieving a better QUALITY of life for whatever time you will be granted to survive. My opinion is that 70 years of normal strength and the ability to perform the activities of daily life is a better thing to experience than living to 110+ years bed-bound, demented and dependent upon others (or machines) for continued existence. I’ve seen plenty of patients in both those situations, and I’m a few months short of being 70 myself, so all my peers are going through the necessity of making friends with mortality.
For all but a few of us geezers, the overriding motive is not killing the planet or the future but instead aquiring peace, both inner and outer. Part of what every person goes through is accepting that we do terrible, damaging things to each other and Earth out of sheer ignorance. The religious parallel, as you noted, is understanding that all people sin, and it has to be admitted and atoned for in order to improve. But I know plenty of non-religious people who achieve the same end by focusing upon ethical behavior, and striving to treat all living beings (and the planet) with compassion and attention.

While I disagree regarding the inevitability of our bodies to function beyond 120 years, I totally agree with the sentiment that living life beyond a certain point is NOT a desirable goal.
Take literal immortality; would YOU want to “leve forever” as everyone around you, everyone you lived, kept dieing?
And, it would get REALLY BORING, after a couple of 1000 years.

If you read any SciFi, going into space slows down your age relative to those on earth. If we ever develop a hibernation type sleep for long distance space travel, you could lose years relative to those around you. The more you hibernate for travel, those around you get older and older while you essentially time travel to the future.
I believe that anything our human brains can conceive, can become reality given enough time. The science of regeneration of body tissues and nanotech repair is just starting and there may be a future where we tell our bodies to stay a certain age and can regrow/repair limbs and vastly speed up damage to skin and bones. Not living forever but giving the elderly a chance to stay active longer would be very good for raising children, working, and enjoying life.

Good thoughts. But making friends with mortality is a very different thing than dealing with an imminent death.
And sanity is not a foregone conclusion, even if you are blessed and surrounded by those who deal with this sanely.
People do lots of things to overcome their mortality. Sowing their seed to leave descendants, building things to leave behind, dosing themselves with poisons to look younger, and lots of other thing too. Some of which aren’t very sane and aren’t accepting of our mortality.

Would like to expand on your excellent post. Have been present in a few deaths and regardless of how the individual or their family got to the point of facing death, once the time arrived there were two very different mindsets. One was of fighting to the last minute possible and a fear that was evident. The 2nd was that of a peaceful surrender and a looking forward to ” Going Home”
Those at death who were certain of their place in eternity had a joyful calm about them, the others the complete opposite. All of those in this life who have bought the lies, will be terrified and fighting their eternity.
Yes, your experience of the two mindsets matches mine. But the angry/fearful diers I knew about were about 6 out of every hundred, and every one of the “resisters” was male. I don’t know entirely know what that says about men vs. women regarding faith, facing death and the acceptance of eternity, but we do have a broad approach for helping patients “deal with the real” at the end of all roads. It’s called PALLIATIVE CARE. There are subsets of that such as pastoral care (the faithful enjoy visits from fellow adherents and ministers), hospice care (attendant help at home or in facilities) and proactive pain management. The main thing to discover is the specific cause of the patient’s difficulty in accepting imminent death. Usually it turns out to be not a fear of God’s judgement after death, but just a simple worry that the process of dying will hurt a lot and that they will be alone when it happens.
During my training for MRI, I also worked in a dementia care facility for a year to help pay for school. The facility had capacity for 40 at a time, and more than 75 died during that year. I was a caregiver and medical aide, and was present at the demise of 13 of them, holding their hands or sometimes cradling them in my arms. It was the lowest-paid job I ever held in health care, and one of the most emotionally rewarding. And it was vital training to help me learn the physical dying process, what could be done to ease fear and discomfort. The experience made me a better, more empathetic hospital worker, for which I’m deeply grateful. I hope you won’t mind my saying that in the years after, I felt as if I had been guided into the job by a divine force. I do believe God helps qualify humans to become better healers of suffering.
I should add that two of the “resisters” who died in that facility turned sweet in their final day, because (I believe) they felt loved and accepted by those of us performing their care. You have to try and help them right to the last breath, because that’s what will be required sometimes.
Palliative care needs to be utilized much more than it is. Many think that it is the bridge to hospice, which it is not. Can make a huge difference in the care transition to whatever is next.
Men’s and women’s brains are wired very differently, so it isn’t surprising to me that they’d have a different reaction. Humans knew about those differences and they were common knowledge up to maybe the 1950s or 1960s. The typical person who is baby boomer or younger doesn’t know that and thinks men and women are exactly the same except for the sex features.
May I add the “guilt” feeling? Some get to the end and feel extraordinarily guilty that they haven’t tried absolutely everything to keep a loved one alive…stunning to see. It’s primarily not for the informed but the survivors who have to live with the death(s).

Using round numbers to make it easier to understand, here is how the math works:
Currently, if a worker makes $1,000 per week…that equals $200 per day.
A 46% raise would give them $1,460 per week ($1,000 x 1.46).
Combined with a new 4-day work week…that would equal $365 per day ($1,460 divided by 4).
Thus…the new daily wage would be increased by 82.5% ($165 extra per day/current $200 per day).
You do realize their initial ask is just that and they don’t expect to get it?

That’s not exactly right. These workers are generally on hourly pay. So while their hourly rate may increase by 46%, their total pay doesn’t increase as much because they will work fewer hours. At $1000 per 40-hour week, their hourly rate is $25.00. With a 46% increase in their hourly rate, that would make it $36.50. Multiply that by 32 hours per week, and that’s $1168 per week. So it’s more like a 68% increase overall, not 82.5%. Plus that’s before taxes, which means the usable increase is even less because more taxes will be taken out at the higher rate.
Now, if they were on a weekly or monthly salary, then your calculations would be correct. Although they still would end up with a lower increase after taxes are taken out.
Either way, it’s still a big increase, but probably not enough to keep up with the rate of inflation the past few years.
AND exacerbate the “wage-push” inflation component.

California has had “moter voter ” registration for quite awhile. You do have to claim to be a US citizen, but I don’t believe they check. Newsom also made mail in ballots automatic and forever after Covid. Plenty of ballots to use for harvest and cheating the electorate .

When this first started Obama said on television that you could check the eligible to vote box and no one would check! Oregon has it, too, even though it was first put to voters who rejected it. When you apply for your California driver’s licence and select “REPUBLICAN” for your party designation the DMV doesn’t register you to vote. It happened to my wife and I. We had to apply directly to the county voter agency three times before they actually registered us. I’m sure they do this to anyone who wants to register Republican!

From all reports, the F-35 is not a “perfectly good airplane” on its best days.
The advanced fighter is so dependent upon many computers aboard, it literally is just a computer with wings. My hunch is the pilot got the “black screen of death” on the instrument panel and had no way to “reboot.”
In the 1950’s, a young lieutenant ejected from an early jet fighter that kept flying until it ran out of fuel. The model had a red light warning of engine fire and the pilot choice was: 1) a malfunctioning warning light, or 2) the aircraft would explode in seconds.
At the crash investigation hearing, a full colonel put the pilot on the hot seat. “Lieutenant, do you realize you ejected from a jet fighter costing the U.S. government $700,000, and it flew until it ran out of fuel?”
The lieutenant replied, “Sir, when the engine fire light came on, I would not have given you a nickel for the jet at that moment.”
You may be right, but then why have a pilot at all?
You would think that even these newer “fly by wire” aircraft would have a hydraulic or cable backup system to control the air surfaces . . . but then again, what the hell do I know. Last time I piloted a plane was in the 1970’s and it was a J3 Cub tail-dragger.
These stealth aircraft are so unstable in flight that it requires a computer making a thousand adjustments per second to keep them airborne.
I suspect there was a test of AI and it decided the pilot was excess baggage.
The pilot’s name was Dave and the plane was afraid it could do that.

The point of having an untrack able airplane is that it should be untrack able.

If it were pilot error, they would have reported on it. If it were a mechanical problem, they would have reported on it. They called it a “mishap” and in the absense of either of those two possibilities, it means they DON’T KNOW which suggests something caused him to eject in the sense that it wasn’t even his idea…. at all.
And if it was the plane acting in a way no one understands, then that would explain why ALL of them have been grounded.
People are thinking the control systems’ operating system was compromised.

I think I already told you Mario Innecco (of Maneco64 youtube) read the book and thinks the author and his concerns are legit. Bill Holter also takes it seriously. And Jack from Nobody Special on youtube also told his followers to read the book. So, there are definitely financial experts who think it’s legit. I sent it to George Gammon but never heard back.

I have heard this claim that every illegal is receiving $2200 per month from numerous people but have never actually seen anything that substantiates it. Does anyone have any official link that verifies this?
That is my question too so did a Startpage search using keywords “what actual subsidies are border crossers receiving” and this page from the National Immigration Law Center seems to be clearly laying out actual facts, which leads me to believe it might be a combination of NGO’s money and the rumor mill making things sound more lucrative than they actually are.

“Pro-Trump lawyer Lin Wood insisted on Wednesday he has no intention of testifying against Donald Trump in his racketeering case in Fulton County, Georgia.
Wood’s name was listed as one of the “witnesses for the state” in a document filed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Wednesday. Previously, a grand jury had recommended Wood’s indictment for his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, which Willis declined to pursue.
Wood told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he’s been told he’ll be subpoenaed, but had not talked to Willis about the scope of the questions he’ll be asked.
