The raw honesty of it, in combination with the non-pretending soul of Oliver Anthony, is making this viral. [2.5 million views on YouTube in 3 days]
God love him, he’s right. WATCH:
LYRICS – I’ve been selling my soul, working all day, overtime hours for bullshit pay,
so, I can sit out here and waste my life away, drag back home, and drown my troubles away.
It’s a damn shame what the world’s gotten to for people like me — for people like you.
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true. But it is. Oh, it is.
Living in the New World – with an old soul.
These rich men north of Richmond. Lord knows it all. Just want to have total control.
Want to know what you think, want to know what you do.
And they don’t think you know. But I know that you do.
Because your dollar ain’t shit, and it’s taxed to no end because the rich men north of Richmond.
I wish politicians would look out for miners and not just minors on an island somewhere.
Lord, we got folks in the street, ain’t got nothing to eat, and the obese milking welfare.
God, if you’re five foot three, and you’re 300 pounds, taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds.
Young men are putting themselves 6 feet in the ground because all this damn country does is keep on kicking them down.
Lord, it’s a damn shame – what the world’s gotten to for people like me, people like you.
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true. But it is. Oh, it is.
Living in the New World – with an old soul.
These rich men north of Richmond. Lord knows they all. Just want to have total control.
Want to know what you think, want to know what you do. And they don’t think you know. But I know that you do.
Because your dollar ain’t shit, and it’s taxed to no end because the rich men north of Richmond.
I’ve been selling my soul, working all day, overtime hours for bullshit pay…
I listened to Mr. Anthony’s son for the 1st time earlier today. Wow, just wow
As a Virginia native my
reaction as well, Wow!
The song hits a nerve to the bone. Powerful vibe!
Everyone is cranking it up with the windows down.
It’s an anthem for the Movement

This article explains to current political situation. “A Single Democratic Group is Keeping The Democrats Competitive”
Until we eliminate the central bank mafia from the planet things for the average world citizen will continue to get worse. Hang the central bankers and 90% of our problems will end.
To the crux of this song, I read yesterday:
Last year just under 50,000 Americans committed suicide, a record. (not counting those who did it with drug ODs).
How many of those were white men? between 36-37,000. That’s 72-74% of the total. That’s hugely disproportionate, and screams out that there is a PROBLEM.
This group has been systematically demeaned, held down, and devalued since the late 1960’s and as Oliver states, “Young men are putting themselves 6 feet in the ground because all this damn country does is keep on kicking them down.”
Back in the 1970’s, In CA, the state, via the local colleges gave my hispanic friends grants of $800 a month (really good money at that time) just for attending. Oddly, the non-hispanic kids from the same neighborhood, and theoretically same economic background, got nothing, zero. (California)
After 50 years of this kind of crap, and the constant dehumanizing of white American men, the supreme court has finally taken an action at HARVARD where none of these poor folks will ever be welcomed, no matter what, anyway.
Hopefully this court action snowballs, because nearly 3 generations of American men have already been sacrificed to the feel good political BS of affirmative action.
Oliver sings to THIS problem among others.
12 years ago my son was a junior. In Dekalb County, Ga schools.
His high school had a representative from Harvard show up for
recruitment. They just announced that Harvard had a recruiter
there for students.
When he went to sit down, they made him leave because he
wasn’t a “minority ” student. Actually, he was , because the
school was about 85% black.
But, only black or minority students were eligible. He informed
them that they were being discriminatory. He also pointed out
the fact that most of the black kids present lived in houses at
least 1500 square feet larger then ours.
Of course they made him leave. He did so quietly. But on that
day I was about as proud of my kid as I ever had been.
Yep.
When I am asked the question on any paperwork: “Are you a member of a minority”? I have always answered “NO”.
Am beginning to think that answering no causes immediate rejection. Saying “Yes” and
identifying as a ” transexual albino dolphin” could be the way to get a leg up. 😉
Identify as American Indian…if Warren can, so can we. If a man can be woman of the year. We can be whatever we want. If a man can be an NCAA woman swimming champ. We can be whatever we want.
If Rachel Dolezel can pretend to be black and work for NAACP, we csn be whatever we want.
If Shaun King can pretend to be a black man, we can be whatever we want.
in other words, MOCK the system!
Exactly.
Was it Rush that referred to Shaun King as Talcum X?
To take that further, everyone born here is a native American.
Mid-nineteen seventies, I graduated from my small Midwestern high school near the top of my class. My dad worked in a small machine shop rebuilding transmissions and my mom stayed home to raise the kids. We grew most of our own food, mom sewed our clothes, we had one beater car, our house was a tiny ranch with three bedrooms and one bath (and there were six of us), and so on. Money was damn tight. You would think that I would get some sort of consideration when I asked for financial help to go to college, right? Nope. I was flat out told by several colleges that there was NOTHING for me because I was just another White guy with really good grades. Now if I had been black, or female, or Native American, heck, even Asian, I would’ve received all sorts of financial benefits, even a full ride. They actually told me this! This nonsense has been going on for a LONG time. I ended up working with my dad, rebuilding transmissions, until the shop closed in the late eighties.
May “they” burn in Hell…..or better yet ……I hope your son has aspired above the “them”.
Harvard Sucks so your child dodged the biggest bullet of his life.
God bless all REAL men, no matter ethnic group or age, but I have to agree that the Globalists are especially attacking white men.
Lift all true men up in prayer, please folks, and ladies, rejoice over the real men in your lives.
Being white and being male are two of the biggest risk factors to completed suicide. While part of that is that white men are generally the most accomplished group that has ever existed. Consider this: White men are only 5% of the world’s population and the only race in population decline (creating only 3.5% of the world’s babies), yet are the most industrious and innovative race the world has known. White men unlocked the secrets of DNA and relativity, launched satellites, created automation, discovered electricity and nuclear energy, invented automobiles, aircraft, submarines, radio, television, computers, medicine, telephones, light bulbs, photography, the internet and countless other technological miracles. White men were the first to circumnavigate the planet by ship, orbit it by spacecraft, walk on the moon, probe beyond the solar system, climb the highest peaks, reach both poles, exceed the sound barrier, and descend to the oceans depths. As they tend to accomplish what they set out to do, white men also, unfortunately, succeed at suicide like they do everything else they try.
So, basically, it’s a competency problem exacerbated by institutionalized repression?
Can anyone else appreciate the location of the video?
Do you mean in the Farmville Virginia area as in that’s where he lives?
Do you mean in front of his deer stand and outside?
He has a song called Hell where he sings about living south of Petersburg WV as paradise. If you take the road south out of town toward Franklin you’d be inclined to agree if you are looking at Upper Tract on a spring or summers day. I’ve fished and hunted that area and it is “Gods country”.
Living your best life is not always, or even primarily, about fun and games. It seems to be about having the clarity to call out with truth and sincerity the bull$h!t when you see it. Oliver Anthony gets it and expresses something so human here. It feels cathartic. It makes me feel less lonely. As Sundance says there are millions of us. Listening to this, watching it, hearing the sad, frustrated ache in his words, voice, and guitar touches me deeply. We’re all in this together, and we know in our heart of hearts we are not alone.
I feel like Oliver is my brother. Thank you Sundance, and thank you creepers all of you in your God given gifts, and honest humanity make this new world seem a little less lonely.
One Man with a guitar. Simple and meaningful. So nice to hear a voice without auto tune. Bravo Sir.
Time to stop talking about this shit and start taking them down!!!
nothing will change until bullets fly
As mentioned earlier, I would love to hear this at a Trump rally.

Hard times makes good men – and good songs.
Ha! And here you thought this was a song about a Sunny Afternoon … hahahaha ha ha. Nope. It’s a song about outrageous British Taxes …
If anyone knows about high taxation … it’s the Beatles … in their historically music changing opening tune from Revolver – Taxman … they ushered in an entirely new musical sound. Written by George Harrison who didn’t much like seeing his bank account being drained by “Mr. Heath” … with perhaps the single most incredible George Harrison sounding psychedelic guitar solo … but … the solo was performed and written by Paul McCartney!! When I learned that, it blew my mind … but PROVED McCartney’s immense talent … to write a George Harrison solo better than George could. Unreal.
I find it interesting that a simple rock song … albeit a mind-blowing, cutting edge song … that literally made my 10yo self stand and listen with my mouth agape in 1966 … is a song that would help usher-in Margaret Thatcher years later to help set a course correction for Britain.
The Big Weekend Show Fox News (7pm) played part of Oliver Anthony’s song and praised him and his song. Joe Concha and David Webb really like the song. I’m glad the song and Anthony are getting some PR.
Yep, had one one of them stood up and sang a long howl would have got me teared up.
I firmly believe that just like Oliver Anthony gave voice…….rural America is where the line will be drawn.
The vulgar cry baby nature of this song and singer is suspect. It appears to be an attempt to change the narrative toward more govt help to cry babies. This bearded folk singer wants to be rich without working for it and has suspicious repeat posters to keep the pity party going here.
I bet you’re a Mitch McConnell fanboy if that’s truly your take.
More cowbell Nick. More cowbell.
I watched all of you Groyper types start reeeee’ing on about this narrative of “have some pride, crybaby!” on Friday.
Your defeatist attitude is WHY no one takes you seriously, “Nick”.
Ha-Ha “Nick” the joke’s on you. This young, disaffected American fella has created VALUABLE intellectual property that is making him money on Itunes. It’s the top of Itunes chart after 2 days!
In fact he now has 9 songs in the Itunes top 20!
He’s not whining for handouts as you opine, but rather, crying out for opportunity to succeed.
And he HAS succeeded! That’s the American way.
Songs have real power to cause change! They channel emotion and emotion leads to action. The song “Yankee Doodle Dandy” helped push Colonials into Revolution. The song “John Brown’s Body” helped stir the Union to action in the Civil War.
Better than a shot of Yukon.
To Sundance from One of the TCTH Nation,
Thank you for posting this young man’s brilliant musical testimony. The integrity of a musician is illustrated by the ability to connect on a human and genuine level with a listener. I am Blessed to have Listened. Thank you again.
I sent a link to that video to EVERYONE I could think of that would listen.
I can’t say I’m poor, but this song is just spot on about the way I feel about the DC Swamp.
After 2 days on Itunes, (since Friday) this song is Number one!
Oliver now has 9 songs in the top 20 on Itunes, all since Friday!
This is very encouraging, as a from the heart conservative song tops the charts AGAIN.
The “Quiet Giant” is awakening.
As per his introduction video on Rumble today.
“There is a divine creator that loves you and sometimes it takes falling down on your knees and getting ready to call things quits before it is obvious that He’s there…but He is always there. You just got to look out for Him and listen for Him.”
Words of wisdom. A smart and talented young man.
Aaron Lewis came with a most powerful song almost 2 years ago that precedes this .
I ain’t taking nothing away from this gentleman but Aaron spoke the truth and we all need to listen.
And maybe act on it? oh no, that would be bad…(SARC)
Talk about hitting the target ..this young man is RIGHT ON ! GOD BLESS HIM ! Give us more Oliver Anthony !
It seems like a decent song, and it is definitely timely, but a *working man’s lament* is hardly anything new.
It could probably be sung by a leftist just as well.
If you want something that really tells people what’s going on, check out Tom MacDonald. The System is my favorite, but others might choose No Lives Matter, Fake Woke, Sheeple, or In God We Trust, in which is the song that turned me on to him.
If you insist on Country, Nu Breed has a bunch of very catchy songs celebrating mostly the second amendment, but also backing up all the others. Welcome to My House, in U-Turn, and Breathe Underwater are some of the best, with that last song providing good advice for those who can read between the lines.
