Yeah, he really did that. Folks, I’m not sharing this to be snarky about Ron DeSantis per se’, this isn’t actually his messaging. It’s worth looking at this through the prism of who is operating the management, branding and communication effort. This level of ridiculous religious pandering is stunningly identical to Ted Cruz in the early 2016 GOP nomination.
The DeSantis campaign knows they need to target evangelical and faith-based voters. Put a group of people who are not actually centered on the principles of faith in charge of a political campaign, tell them they need to appeal to faith-based voters, and this is exactly what you get.
The DeSantis campaign organizes what should be an interview with friendly allies in the Christian Broadcasting Network. [Full Interview Here] CBN’s David Brody then interviews Ron DeSantis asking him what historic figures he would associate himself with. DeSantis’s answer is so far beyond pandering cringe, it makes you seriously wonder who constructed this messaging for him [likely, Jeff Roe]. WATCH:
.
Grandma’s rules apply to me providing any further commentary on the issue, but wow – just wow.
That campaign must be under so much external pressure from the GOPe donors, it’s unreal to watch.
So, Ron thinks he would have been a Disciple of Jesus…he sounds more like Ron DeSimple.
What’s up with his left ear, that thing is flushed red and it seems like the more he talks the redder it gets. As Sundance pointed out on twitter about Casey throwing a plate at his head…there does seem to be a little bump above that left eyebrow.
I call it his Ted Cruz moment. Remember when Cruz criticized Trump for the way he cited that passage in Corinthians II? When he did that I knew it was over for him. He thought he was mocking Trump but actually he was mocking God..the Word. God took him out. He never recovered from that. DeSanctus just repeated history. Like Pence, he leaps away from humility to downright in your face self righteousness. “There is no on righteous..no not one.” God will not be mocked.
A good numbe of the Cruzbots from the 2016 campaign are part of the RDS camp.
So, the implication is a vote against DeDisciple is a vote against Jesus Christ.
We will all burn in DeHell for this.
What’s next…He’s the 2nd coming?
Obama already made a claim to that back in 08.
“On the 8th day God created Ron” according to Rons famous ad, touted by his wife Casey.
And in the following days, President Trump created a nickname for Ron; Ron DeSanctimonious.
Christ hearts versus piety policing pharisees.
Just out of curiosity, I want to see what happens when he tries to impersonate some figure of Islam instead of Christianity.
Now he really is Ron Desanctimonious.
Trump’s nicknames for people have a way of becoming more true as time passes.
Amazingly true, isn’t it?
I think we all ought to be careful how much we credit DJT. I personally think God’s hand is upon him . . . but not because of any “righteousness” he has to honor God or us. He simply is being used by God and we need to keep the focus on God, not Trump in that sense.
Yep.
But I respect God’s choice.
And it is humbling to note how often the Lord chooses the unqualified but willing soul.
Wow! I didn’t think of that.
Does Trump have a crystal ball?
He’s a time traveler.
More and more every day I am seriously starting to believe President Trump is a time traveler.
Reviewing some comments, it’s clear most or all here feel like this was horrible, but it didn’t bother me. He’s a Catholic, I believe, and I have no reason to question the sincerity of his faith. I don’t begrudge him trying to appeal to conservative Protestant Christians, even if this was a bit clumsy. There are a zillion other reasons to reject him.
I don’t know what I’m missing. I heard him say that Jesus called ordinary people like Peter to follow Him, and DeSantis would have loved to have been there and had that opportunity. Millions of Christians would love to have walked with Jesus when He was on earth, regardless of their eventual martyrdom.
Perhaps the context is necessary to understand why he was being sanctimonious.
Really? The question was, “what historic figures he would associate himself with”
Maybe YOU can explain to us what possible context his answer about wanting to be “a fisher of men” would make sense as a presidential candidate …
Other than it being it a lame attempt to pander to a Christian network audience.
The question was who would he like to have dinner with in history.
Does he walk on water too?
Most likely yes! In his bathtub.
And trips on the rubber duckies.
“Does he walk on water too”.
Perhaps that’s why Ron was wearing those white rubber boots while touring flood damage?
So now we have to update our Bibles?
It’s Matthew, Mark, Luke and Ron?
The snarkiness is delicious! 😉
What about
Ron, Ron, Ron,and Ron ?
the only gospel I see him preach is “elect me, elect me, elect me.”
What a tool; one in the hands of the wrong people. It’s so fake, it can’t be real, but it is. Clown world truly exists.
I don’t have any idea whether Ron Desantis is a believer or not, but Just to be clear, any true believer and follower of Christ is a disciple. I don’t see the big deal.
Agreed. Those making a big deal with this are being foolish and are truly the sanctimonious ones. Everyone thinks that they’re a mystic, without the mysticism.
wrong.
try viewing from a public relations angle and not a ‘lets trust everyone’ viewpoint.
Billy sounds a lot like one of those “seminar callers”, or dear, departed friend Rush, used to speak of. Why is it that so many of Ron’s acolytes seem to act like Democrat robots?
But, I hate pure ad hominem arguments; weak logic. I’ll address your comment specifically, Billy. We’re making a “big deal” out of a man claiming to be the equivalent representation of one of Jesus’ personally, hand chosen, disciples, for benefit of his personal quest for political power. You claim this is all about Trump’s ego (in other posts). No, Billy, it’s all about the “Ron!”, and how transparently brazen he is, in his willingness to throw Trump under the perverbial bus, in behalf of his own quest for power. We see what you apparently cannot see (or don’t care about, if you’re GOP-e or a Dem yourself; who knows?).
you are thinking like a innocent doe.
its the fact he felt he should say it. why he juse said it now. and who is being impacted by this.
You’re right; see my comments.
Ron claims to be a Catholic. (as do Pelosi and Biden).
Catholics believe that marriage is, like baptism, one of the sacred sacraments.
Practicing Catholics receive the sacrament of marriage in a Catholic Church on their wedding day.
However, Ron chose to get married at Disney’s Magic Kingdom rather than at an outpost of Gods Kingdom.
An evocative choice; a choice that inspires me to pray for him and those who follow him and believe in him.
LOL Ron, like Jeb! before him, is the current anointed one on the Republican half of the Uni-party ticket. Nothing is too silly, or too over the top, for the “anointed” one. But once your eyes are opened to the kabuki nature of the undertaking that is our political season, you laugh and point and shake your head in derision, which is the natural response to such a performance.
I might nominate such a person for a People’s Choice award, but as one of the two leading candidates for President of the U.S.? Probably not. Sorry Ron, but the role of Savior is taken…
The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
“I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”
— Psalm 2:4-6
Perfect Bible verse.
He didn’t claim to be the Savior. So many “disciples” that really are following no one but themselves in these comments. The sactamony is in this comment thread.
BTW, I’m voting for Trump.
I doubt that you’re voting for Trump, and probably, most everyone else does as well (if they’re tracking your seminar posts). The santimony in your own posts, like DeSantis’ words, deeds, and asssociates, tells us more about who you are, than your words.
Please explain to me how wanting to be a fisher of men relates to his qualifications of running a government.
Good heavens.. If you can’t see that as pandering on a Christian Network then you need to make a trip to the pool of Siloam!
I am for Ron to continue the great progress he has made in Fl. I have no objection to him calling himself a disciple, either way. The commentators are the ones glaringly on display here. Obviously none compared themselves as disciples of Jesus. Their loss. Either way I am for Ron to remain in FL. I wish he would mentor 49 Governors! I will not vote for Ron to leave FL. We love his great job.
Elon Musk’s Tesla EVs exempted from Florida ban on direct car sales (tallahassee.com)
Ah–the Smell of New Car and Integrity For Sale But Mostly Integrity For Sale.
Do you ever get the impression that DeSantis is not totally into this gig? It’s like he got himself into something he can’t get out of.
Like some professional under contract, so he has to follow the script. Maybe that’s why he seems so disingenuous.
It just seems to me that the puppeteers don’t care who gets in, dem or repub, as long as Trump is out.
.
It seems that way to you and everyone here too… and increasingly to a whole lot of the country…
…because it is that way.
surfing the NSA database has its consquences for the people within it.
imagine finding a picture. then posting a jokey article of it on a public new channel – just to warn the person it could be worse if they dont cooperate.
Highschool parties with adults
Ron may never back down but there are some things he needs to back away from. Like this. Talk about poor judgment. He should have the courage to stand up to the knuckleheads setting him up to look ridiculous over and over again. He needs to tell the wife looking for the spotlight to back away from the podium it looks like you want to be First Lady too much kind of like Hillary.
A smart man would have backed away from the GOPe and the donors. Done a great job as Governor and stayed with the America First agenda making himself the heir to the great populist movement Trump put together.
Instead, he will be just another Jeb. Please clap now.
Just Another Jeb….that’s a low blow ….which RDS richly deserves
https://www.politico.com/news/2023/06/17/trump-indictment-election-2024-polling-00102522
Because most people know “BombShell” indictment is just another way of saying BullSheet indicment.
I hope most people know Biden Didnt Win too.
There’s nothing there you just don’t understand Christianity and its history.
People are overreacting.
Ego.
That’s OK, we all have EGO’s, including you and the “Ron!”.
The Beatles touched this third rail, much to their regret. I’m surprised they’re so clueless.
Ron, OK you take it from there, spread the Good News.
We all have a ringside seat with our Bibles. Christians should spread the Good News the best way we know how, IMHO.
Jesus saves!
Fishers of men. Preach the Gospel. Y’all heard Ron! preach the Gospel?
Only when one Believes, been saved, do they become a hearer of the Word which outlines how to, or order, spread the Gospel and Live Salvation.
Preach. Beach. Teach.
First, Preach the Gospel
Then, Beach or baptism (whether convicted baptism saves or not part of salvation, both apply to order)
Finally, Teach the Word, the precepts to the Believer.
Teaching before Preaching and Beaching falls on deaf degenerate ears. Ron! is all Teach and when out of order makes him a bloviating Pharisee selling works as the Gospel.
Ron! has blown his testimony as a Believer, as a Christian. Note, it is not being judged whether he is or is not Saved, not a Christian but, stating his testimony as such is flawed.
He is mocking the work of the Holy Spirit, and by so doing is placing his soul in eternal jeopardy.
Being a disciple is mocking the Holy Spirit? Okie-dokie.
God chose his disciples, including Judas. Ron implying that God choose him as another disciple, in service of his own grasp for power, certainly qualifies as mocking the Holy Spirit. ANYONE (not just “Ron!”) who claims to speak for God, without a Biblical quote to back up his or her words, is mocking the Holy Spirit. Holy men of God, spake as they were moved, by the Holy Spirit – those men wrote the physical Bible, though the thoughts came from God. “Ron!” is not one of those men, either.
I believe the term “doth protest too much” applies here, to your protests.
Using God to promote anything other than God is mocking the work of the Holy Spirit.
Rondo is using the works and acts of the Holy Spirit to win votes.
If Rondo really cared about men’s souls, he would be in a different line of work.
Snarky per se’ my ass! Why must you hate DeSantis to support Trump? I hate the spin on the right more than I do the left.
Yikes! Now it is hate if disagree or see the extent Ron! is a globalist which makes him Anti-God given inalienable rights.
Sundance, may I offer a suggestion? You have to add to this post the initial ad campaign that RDS made a while that some of you Floridians were talking about early on that was hard to believe. You know the one. The ad where Ron compares himself, or at least insinuates that he’s sent from God. I forgot how it goes, but I know it was one of those “pat yourself on the back” ads that people didn’t take to well.
You are recalling his “So God Made a Fighter” ad.
Modeled on Paul Harvey’s “So God Made a Farmer.”
Utterly over the top sanctimonious, nauseatingly self-promoting, and lightning inducing hubris.
You are doing to De Santis what the MSM does to Trump, take one small statement then blow it out of proportion.
Exactly. Talk about sanctamony.
Nope. Here is the full version. Oops, there is something else in the interview that is waaaay worse but validates the reaction from critics of the short clip. Spot it? Sure, could give benefit of doubt but combined with this clip portion, there really is a stretch to give the mercy of doubt.
I just listened to Rob’s interview and honestly it was a perfect interview! CBN asked the questions , he gave great answers! I love Ron DeSantis as my FL Gov and hope he serves again. With him as Gov and Trump as Pres I believe we need alliances like that to strengthen our Great Country.
I pray God bless America!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Ron Bot.
A man is known by his deeds, his words, and his associates. “Ron!” (the new “Jeb!”) fails on at least two of three of those counts. If you think that what Sundance wrote is the equivalent of what the MSM has done to Trump, you need to catch up on what they’ve said about the “Russian collusion” (i.e. treason), two impeachments, a stolen election for two, and multiple criminal and civil prosecutions, before you speak of poor Ron’s mistreatment.
10/2022
“The DeSantis campaign knows they need to target evangelical and faith-based voters.”
The “wide road” is full of people headed to hell, and those people are the ones who while on this earth said, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we do this and that for you?’ Yet, Jesus will say to them, ‘Depart from me you workers of evil — I never knew you.’
does the name desanctimonious now sound very appropriate?
Only with the folks commenting.
Wow, for a diehard Trump supporter, you sure have more problems with ANY critcism of the “Ron!”. Now, why is it that Trump supporters (disclaimer, I was “never Trump” before I became “Never Ron”, and “never GOP-e”, and a diehard Trump supporter) suspect that DeSantis is a lying weasle, when his supporters act like the same?
Yep, DeSantis is EXACTLY like a disciple of Christ.
Judas Iscariot
I might have voted for him in 2028. I might have voted for him if God-forbid, Trump passed away before 2024.
Now I’m a “crawl across cut glass” Trump supporter, who will also crawl across cut glass to vote for anyone else other than DeSantis, the rest of my natural life. Congrats, DeSantis. You made yourself a Judas. Or, should I better say, you made yourself into Mike Pence.
Regardless of what you think about Trump’s faults, a vote for anyone else is a vote AGAINST Trump. A vote against Trump, is a vote FOR the authoritarian socialists, who stole the 2020 election from the American people (they didn’t steal if from Trump; they stole the citizenship franchise from those who supported him, which were well in the 10’s of millions more, than actually voted for Biden). A vote against Trump, is a vote for the corrupt DOJ/FBI, DHS, and every other corrupt Federal administrative agency. A vote against Trump is a vote FOR the two fake impeachments. A vote against Trump is a vote AGAINST the J6 political prisoners.
DeSantis will do what the GOP-e instructs him to do. He WILL NOT be independent. DeSantis will roll back the “deep state” (hate that term, but it’s recognizeable), just like the GOP McConnell/Ryan-McCarthy cabel swore to roll back Obamacare. No, Obamacare will be with us until we die. Our medical establishment is now “woke”, coopted by the authoritarian socialists, in part, because Federal dollars now control most medical decisions. DeSantis will do for the republic, just what the GOP-e has done for the past 50 years. NOTHING.
DeSantis supporters, tell me why you want more of what has already happened to this country. Voting for him, is your approval of that.
I’m glad that I won’t be seeing you at the right hand of the Father.
Pardon? I’m glad my future lies in the hands of MY Father, and Lord, Jesus Christ. You clearly think much of yourself, but no, God did NOT make you the judge of mankind. Oh, and yeah, that “Bible” thingy. That’s the God I worship, the God of the Bible, the “God who is there”, not your creation. I expect to see Jesus, my Lord, at the right hand of the Father.
God bless you, ’cause you need a whole lot of that.
As far as what this has to do with who and what DeSantis is, I have no idea whether he’s is redeemed by the Father. I do know that he’s a opportunistic, corrupt, lying politician, just like the 100’s of GOP politicians I’m supported in the past 50 years. The man is known by his words, his deeds, AND his closest associates. Sorry, but “Ron!” didn’t past the “Jeb!” test.
Lol, either my last post, for some other here, must have gotten me banned. Now my posts are “awaiting approval”.
Sundance, I thought so much more of you. I won’t be back.
Guess what? We are volunteers here, and we do what we can, when we can. Super sorry that I was not instantly available to serve. It had not one thing to do with Sundance.
My apologies. Recent experience has given me certain … expectations. Guys like “Kane” at CFP have banned (ghosted) me, so I expected the “waiting approval” thingy to be that, too.
Sundance is exactly who I thought he was! 😏👍👆
Thats happened to me many times already. Count to 10 slowly.
Remember, I was the first one to post the equation: Jeb! + Cruz = DeSantis. Everyday, the DeSantis campaign proves my equation was correct.
Jeb! + Ted + Mitt == Team DeSanctimonious
Wrong Name
I also was the first to post the equation: DeSantis + GOPe ÷ MAGA = Trump
It appears to me that some of the comments miss a major point about DeSantis’ pronouncement.
With his backstabbing of the MAGA movement, along with his willingness to sell his soul for the thirty pieces of silver from the elitist anti-American swamp creatures, he strikes me as being the doppelganger of Judas Iscariot.
The reason Trump is consistently beating DeSantis in the polls is that Conservative voters no longer trust anyone pushed by the Republican party to represent them.
They aren’t wrong.
Ultimately, this indicates a bigger problem than who’s the next president.
I finally made myself watch this and all I can think is: CRINGEWORTHY.
Ha 666 comments lol
Paul said follow me, as I follow CHRIST, if anyone follows Christ, they are his disciple because their job is to teach the Gospel,. A short lesson, the first Man Adam, brought in Sin and death, the Second Christ. brought in forgiveness and eternal life. The Apostles were selected because he knew their hearts. Even after denial they served him.
“Teach the Gospel” == Living the Gospel.
Actions speak louder than any words including words from the bible.
As the woman in “When Harry Met Sally”‘s famous diner scene replied to the waitress, ” I’ll have what she’s having”.
When Christs followers were confused and asked Him to explain how to know who was who Christ replied, “you will know by the fruits they bear”.
Christ then listed the fruits of the Holy Spirit; fruits a person produces if that persons heart is rooted in Him.
Who can quote the bible perfectly?
Those who perfectly despise God.
he has got to be viben’ some Judas because he has certainly taken the silver.

Check out this unhinged DeSantis supporter on FB
AND they say that Trump supporters are conspiracy nuts!
These people lost it
Thomas Ruszala wrote this on FB”
…I found Tucker Carlson’s view on why they hate Trump to be the most accurate (he took their wars away from them and all those trillions never reached DC).All of Trump’s heavy hitters from his administration are gone having exposed themselves as DC First.Trump no longer will have any semblance of a cabinet. He’d be impeached on day one.I look at it this way.”Give to Caesar’s what is Caesar’s.Give to God what is God’s.”Rome had endless wars.America will have endless wars. There will always be wars.We just don’t need this endless civil war these dividers are causing.Covid destroyed 1 million Americans. That was part of the “Deep State” civil wars. They did it to evict Trump.Think of that! They created a biological weapon that caused 1 million fatalities. Our own deep state created it and yes 1 million are gone from America.I have no qualm with wars outside of America we are involved with.I just do not want 1 million fatalities here because they created a civil war to rid the world of one man. That war with covid helped evict that one man.Trump was absolutely right when he said “They are not coming after me.They are after you!!”If he becomes president again they surely would create a nucle@r false flag that would have 25 million fatalities. No people!!!Trump is not worth another civil war of millions of fatalities here in America.I go back to Jesus quote “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s…give to God what is God’s.”War is the domain of man. There will always be wars!Keep the wars out there and not here.Trump only brought covid here with a million fatalities.Next time it will be 25 million fatalities. No you keep Trump!I will take Ron DeSantis all day long.He will protect America from all threats on our homeland.Trump brought those threats here to each and every one of us on our own land.”Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s!”Give us what is ours.Trump is a serious threat to our homeland. We don’t need a nuclear false flag just because of one man.Hell no!….
Well I hate to break it to the FB ranter but “We the people” are the Caesars’ of this nation. So give us what WE THE PEOPLE VOTED FOR!
Sorry, but Ruszala sounds like he’s a moonbat. They always pretend to be Conservatives, and then they use biblical quotes incorrectly every single time. I’ll bet this is him, part of the AFL-CIO…..

Team Rons pitch to Christian voters:
Comply or die comrade christian. For your safety, vote for ron not don.
Lying Christians and the lies they tell themselves…
This guy here says he’s voting for DeSantis because DeSantis is a practicing Christian, even though he fully admits there’s no evidence whatsoever of DeSantis actually practicing Christianity, you know, but he did baptize one of his kids with holy water once…
“Ron DeSantis is a practicing Catholic, by all accounts, and that means something in this age of declining religious practice, though DeSantis doesn’t appear to have revealed much about how he practices his faith while in office. I am not aware of what parish he attends or what his personal faith looks like, though he is said to have baptized one of his children with water from the Sea of Galilee, for what that’s worth. (He spoke of it when he announced his wife was battling breast cancer recently.) Whatever his personal convictions, faith certainly has influenced the way he has governed, as is evidenced by the number of hit pieces that have been run by liberals bemoaning that fact. ”
https://crisismagazine.com/opinion/the-catholic-case-for-desantis
Did RDS say that he himself actually baptized one of his children or he brought the water from the Sea of Galilee for a Catholic priest to perform the baptism?
I don’t see how he is a “devout Catholic” if he doesn’t follow the protocol!
I personally don’t judge the sincerity of one’s faith by whether or not they belong to a church, attend church, or follow the protocols prescribed by a particular institutional church denomination.
I judge someone’s faith by if they have a personal relationship with Jesus and try their human best to live according to the Bible.
The institutional church and its prescribed protocols are of man, not of God.
My viewpoints stated here have nothing to do with DeSantis, who I dislike, but are how I view faith in general.
Practicing Catholic == marriage, like baptism, is a holy sacrament performed in a Church, one of the outposts of Gods Kingdom, and/or by a priest.
Where did “practicing Catholic” Ron choose to get married?
At Disney’s “Magic Kingdom”.
An evocative choice.
Easter 2024 will be high primary season
Ron can do something very dramatic to continue his Jesus posture.
Like wash his hands and let the people decide?
Judas was a disciple.
RDS was asked who he would like to have dinner with in history. I see nothing wrong with his answer.
I do however see something wrong with how the premise was phrased in the title, which is misleading. Our community is not the NYT or CNN, we can do better.
After reading the comments, I am a bit appalled. We have become an echo chamber.
Sooo, opinions different than yours are an echo chamber?
It’s amazing to me that you fail to grasp that responding to the very last question in a CBS interview by expressing his longing for an Oprah moment with Jesus’s disciples IS the definition of pandering.
Gaag. Sucker born every minute.
DeSantis is the model of Christianity just before every election!
This guy is just plain WEIRD! I am in Texas, not Florida but my goodness he seems to have a GOD COMPLEX! 😵💫
From what I understand, DeSantis did NOT compare hills to one of Christ’s disciples, but rather said that he would LIKED to have been one of them. L*rd knows that there are things to criticize about DeSantis, but this is hard one of them.
All but one of the apostles were tortured and crucified/beheaded/speared because of their belief in Jesus.
Are you seriously trying to make us believe that DeSantis, who can’t even bother to show up at church, has such strong convictions in Christianity that he’d die for his faith?
Yeah….okay. Pffft.
If you call yourself a Christian, wouldn’t you also have loved to have been there with Jesus? I would LOVE, for example, to have been on the road to Emmaus, listening to the risen Christ who, “beginning with Moses and with all the Prophets, He explained to them the things written about Himself in all the Scriptures.” (Luke 24) Now that is a conversation I would love to have heard.
How many of us calling ourselves Christ followers really know the Scriptures well enough to show someone else how Christ is pictured in the entire Old Testament? How many of us know our Bibles well enough to explain this to a Jewish person? Because we should know the Scriptures well enough to to do this.
EVERYONE who names the name of Jesus Christ is, in fact, His disciple. Jesus commanded His followers “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” Matthew 28:19
This wimp bastard isn’t the one being crucified.
He doesn’t have the stones Trump has. He and his little pebbles would wilt at the first sign of adversity. He ain’t no disciple. Oh, I forgot about Judas.
Sundance’s comment; “Are we supposed to rewrite the books of the bible to Matthew, Mark, Luke and RON……….
I literally can’t stop laughing!!!!
Sundance really is a standard bearer for Truth, Research, Level Headedness, Generosity, Indefatigableness and Humor. I could go on but I think we all know this…
Big Thank You Sundance for all that you do. A true leader!
Maybe DeSantis is fishing for votes?
