I don’t understand the logic of DeSantis running. Let’s just say he beat @realDonaldTrump in the primary (which won’t happen) but let’s hypothesize…If he won, there wouldn’t be one true Trump supporter left that would vote for him and he would be destroyed in a general election. The difference between what I mean by Magic + mainstream or fundamentalist Christianity is the idea of — Obligation.
Christians don’t believe Prayer forces God to do something for them or saying specific prayers forces God to grant specific gifts. God is All-Powerful…. Nor would fundamentalist Christians believe they can force an Angel or spirit of a saint to perform specific tasks for them if the believer does a specific thing.
I think this point is really driven home when you read quotes or texts by Occultists who call their practice —- a Science or say it is very Scientific.
Fundamentalist Christians don’t view worship as an Equation or Formula – especially not a Hidden or Lost Formula – in which a person can preform X Y or Z + always get X Y or Z expected results from God or other super natural being.
The books on the Occult also talk about how Christians believe God as a real being – not an impersonal Force that believers can tap into or control via specific actions.
Off the top of my head — if you go through the history of Christianity in the Middle Ages – this is the primary dividing line between the Fundamentalists + the Heretics like the Alchemists + others credited with inventing Western Science.
Also, the concept of True Christianity is not equal to Persecuting Christianity.
Saying someone isn’t practicing the Christianity the Bible teaches and aren’t really Christians is not the same as burning someone at the stake for not practicing it in the official way.
And there are countless examples across time + geography where different Religions or thought-systems were deemed the official one for a state or community or tribe —– and anyone who strayed from official practice/beliefs were oppressed.
Unlike Islam + I’d guess other long-standing religions – there is nothing in the New Testament of the Christians that says the Church should terrorize or kill non-believers or apostates….
That was one of the dividing lines between what Jesus taught + the practice of the Judaism of His day — as exemplified in the story of the woman caught in adultery the masses demanded Jesus join in stoning to death. Jesus said that the person who’d never sinned can cast the 1st stone + shamed the masses into walking away….
….and conversely, Bible-believing Christians do believe that Jesus was God in the flesh who has never sinned + will be the Judge at the end of recorded time.

I have found two books by Philip Jenkins to be very interesting. Jesus Wars and The Lost History of Christianity. The first is inside the Roman Empire, the bloody fight to establish orthodoxy, and the second describes Christianity spreading outside the Roman Empire, and then being mostly snuffed out.

The Biden Administration has a new and unhinged constitutional theory: the 14th Amendment protects the right of a child to take puberty blockers. Bans on hormone treatments for children with gender dysphoria, such as the prescription of testosterone to a transgender 12 year-old, violate the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause.
From the outside, it’s almost fascinating to watch a regime flex its power without shame. Policies that were laughable ten years ago are now the new orthodoxy – and must be defended by undemocratic means and deceitful pleadings.
While the Biden Administration advocates for the near-limitless exercise of novel and questionable government and regulatory power, from energy use to environmental regulations to health insurance and vaccine mandates, it also objects to the reasonable state-level limitations on the medical treatment of minors that are unquestionable within the powers of the state. While it argues that parents of children with gender identity issues must be allowed to treat those problems as they see fit (even if harm comes to the child), it targets parents who criticize Democratic educational policies and erodes parental right to oversee their child’s education.
