It features a 20-something Afro-American woman with a slight foreign accent, who says she “hates banks” because they charge her fees whenever she writes a bad check.
(The euphemism “overdraft” is used.)
She claims to be a business-woman who needs to keep track of her money! “Chime” allows her to write bad checks of up to $200. without a penalty!
So she really likes “Chime” !
The idiocy in this ad is immense: by definition the so-called business-woman cannot keep track of her money, if she is constantly writing bad checks!
And so who would ever do business with such a person, who admits to chronic behavior which could – or should – land her in jail?!
Yet, we note that the ad is designed to attract the younger generation – Generation Gimme Free Stuff – to bank with “Chime.”
I do not know how “Chime” makes a profit, but it looks like a bad bet to me! And feeding irresponsibility up to $200. is bad for any society: how it is working for “Chime” I have no idea. Perhaps they will not charge you once or twice, and then you get hit with a surcharge. (The ad, however, implies there is never a charge, and “overdrafts” are unlimited.)
Anyway, the commercial symbolized nothing good to me about the targeted demographic: be irresponsible and glory in the illusion that you are keeping track of your money!
This goes along with the ads for the “free” money advance that the young people need at the checkout when they don’t have any money or credit left or the dumb white husband who spends all the money on groceries instead of diapers but is saved by the smart wife who takes a cash advance of “free” money.
Perhaps with 24% or higher interest rate on ‘borrowed’ money?
One of the worst Supreme Court cases destroyed State usury laws. If one state such as S. Dakota or Delaware allows a subsidiary of big banks to have very interest high ‘credit card” office incorporation sin that state, then the usury protections of citizens in other states can be violated and ignored.
The banks, in turn are able to ‘borrow’ from the fed ad below 1″ interest, and then charge customers 24% or more interest.. A remarkably bad SC decision back in the late 70’s.
This destruction of State usury laws protecting against exorbitant interest surely has “disparate impact” on innercity citizens and “people of color” who tend to have credit card balances.
Where are the BLM and the 1619 project demonstrations? (I suggest this is a major reason that the big banks give money to BLM. (which comes from the usurious interest paid by ‘people of color’, in an example of extreme hypocrisy)

The Community Reinvestment Act under Clinton dictated that banks provide full banking services to underserved communities, irrespective of the ability of borrowers to pay back their loans.
Many mortgages under the CRA subsequently defaulted. I’m sure this is why banks began writing mortgage loans that were quickly sold and passed through a myriad of mortgage companies.
With that convoluted process, I wouldn’t be surprised if all those loan defaults were ultimately made whole through our tax coffers. I guess those mortgage loans are no longer needed now that taxpayers foot the bill directly for all these subsidized housing developments.

Not taking anything away from your fine post, but I believe this goes further back especially the 1996 primaries which were stolen using many methods one of which was a huge influx of illegal Chinese campaign contributions to the Democrat national Campaign Finance committee and the CFR Clinton’s. Once upon a time I saw a documentary report which detailed the several ways that votes are “counted” in different jurisdictions around the country. The techniques of subtle mathematical manipulation of votes & voters presented in that program are (to this day) deeply hidden. Maybe some one here in the Tree House is a math whiz who understands how that stuff works. It was PBS documentary. I saw it in the early 90’s. It showed the reason why all votes should be cast in person by paper ballot and counted on the same day is critical. Any deviance from that simple rule is cover for fraud.
Buchanan famously won the first republican primary in New Hampshire in 1996 after the lying “polls” said he would come in 5th or 6th. This set the Council On Foreign Relations & China into a panic. They made sure he won no more (except Missouri)

Apart from the probable FBI setup in Vegas, I’m unaware of any mass shootings where the shooter lugged TWO RIFLES into the scene.
