Throughout the process of explaining events, situations, contexts, people and ultimately motives, I always try to introduce metaphors, analogies and comparative situations as reference points to understand the premise behind the interpretation of events, data and analysis as it surfaces.
Treepers in general, likely by the outcome of our association, also do the same thing in the comment section.
That’s why reading the comments is always enlightening as it expands the thoughts and considerations.
In the comments section here, as with some other voices in social media, there are some exceptionally brilliant minds that review events and have fantastic ways to distill complex issues into the core essence of the thing.
Ziiggii said something today that is so perfectly succinct, it is worth emphasizing.
Overall, we can see the fingerprints of Mitch McConnell in the background of the Ron DeSantis campaign. It’s not that McConnell is attached directly to the campaign, but rather is aligned with the overarching theme of DeSantis as being the acceptable Republican candidate.
Wall Street and the multinational corps, along with K-Street writ large, are the mechanisms that support the philosophy of the professional GOPe, those are the same entities supporting DeSantis. The core objective is in synergy. Trump represents a loss of control for the financial operators, DeSantis retains the system.
This was a point I was making when I said McConnell’s outlook is essentially DeSantis’. Then Ziiggii replied with a mic drop. It’s not McConnell per se’ that is in alignment with the RdS ’24 objective, it’s John Thune!

The ideological difference between McConnell and Thune is nonexistent. However, the difference between McConnell and Thune is the GOPe baton being handed down to maintain the status quo. McConnell has been grooming Thune for years… Thune’s time is soon to surface; there will be no challengers to Thune becoming the next Republican Senate Leader; the system supports it.
McConnell does represent the legacy Republican outlook, and to Ziiggii’s point, Thune represents the next in line to maintain it.

One of the more challenging facets, to awakening the general public on the scale of corruption within Washington DC, is the need for people to drop party designations.
This is never truer than within the U.S. Senate where the mistaken “us -vs- them” perspective remains a pesky hurdle.
The blue team and red team are mirror images of themselves. They are not opposites, they are mirrored – a big difference.
The policy objective is the same, the business model within DC (K Street) benefits the upper chamber the most.
Within this dynamic, Mitch McConnell is the mirror image of Harry Reid. Mitch has been grooming his replacement for a long time; that replacement is John Thune. Senator Thune is in a position that demands stealth. Ideologically, think of John Thune as the mirror image of Gavin Newsom. They are not opposites, they are mirrored – a big difference.
The system of affluence and influence has been created to self-sustain regardless of party affiliation. The Senate is one club with one ideological perspective. Within that club rule #1 dominates: none of the members will ever expose another member. So, when there is corrupt activity within the Senate, no one from within the institution will expose another. I think it kind of morphed into its current state over decades, particularly the last 30 to 40 years. He seems too “fragile” minded to me.

I am kind of an end of the book guy and looking at 2024 right now through these lenses:
-Ranked in order from worst to best, the Presidential candidates for 2024 are; (1) whoever the Democrats run whether that be Joe Biden, Kamala, Newsome or Michele Obama; (2) Ron Desantis and (3) Donald Trump. The other R’s will come and go (Haley, Scott, etc) and be nothing more than a temporary distraction although if the establishment thought they could be useful in splitting the Trump vote they’d hang around until the end. Thune will promote whoever the establishment has aligned themselves with and for now that is RDS.
-Are swing states (Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia) doing anything to reduce future potential ballot fraud that has been the focus of discussion in 2020 and 2022 elections to a level that would make it possible for candidate Trump to win? Can the Florida model be used in those swing states as it sure seems to work well and what would it take for state legislatures to look at it and instead of trying to reinvent the wheel (in Arizona there have been literally dozens of bills proposed) use what works.
-Can 2024 candidate Trump bring any D voters that may be on the fence (or at least close to the middle and not so far left) across to vote for him? or new voters that were not here in previous elections?
-Has the distribution of millions of foreign-born undocumented voters across the country from 2021 until the election in 2024 been thought through as it relates to voter participation in 2024?
-What potential new national emergency will be declared in 2024 forcing vote by mail to be the predominant method of casting a ballot? Is there a way a Republican controlled house can stop this?
-Has there been so much money given away (covid relief, extended and enhanced unemployment etc) that the system of dependency on the federal government has become embedded in the psyche of the average American voter to the point that the MAGA agenda does not resonate with a majority of voters?
-Even if Donald Trump were to pull off a victory somehow in 2024, who are candidates in succession planning for future election cycles?
While not denying 2020 or 2022 occurred, I think many people want some sort of return to “normalcy” and constantly looking backward and highlighting previous election shortcomings does nothing to promote the ideas, programs and plans to get to “normal”. The plan cannot be to whine about negative media, agency interference as the base already understands this. The voting demographic that will soon be the majority casting votes should be studied in great detail to ascertain what concerns them, what inspires them, what would cause them to vote for a different candidate as they are very different from the boomer demographic that will soon be displaced as majority voter. Unless and until you get that vote, the candidate names will be irrelevant and it will come down to which uniparty candidate is best known.

I had always registered as an Independent in my younger yrs. However, in the State in which I lived, I could not vote in the primaries without a designated ‘Party’ affiliation. Because I have always voted Pro-Life, and because that meant that I would always end up voting Republican, I chose ‘Republican’. However, I still object to such restrictions (they do not exist in all States). I do not care for being ‘classified’. Folks tend to form judgements and assumptions about other Folks by such measures. People should NOT have to designate a ‘Party’ in order to vote, which is their Right as an American. I don’t support ‘voting classifications’ any more than I support ‘gun laws’. We are either Free to choose, or we are not.
Unless I am mistaken, the drawback to being able to vote in the primary as an “unregistered” is that it opens up the voting to let even the Dems vote in Repub primaries, which is known as “open voting.”
That is not a good thing, as the Dems can come in and sabotage the ballot, possibly negating who the Repubs really want to win.
BTW, I was once an Inedpendent, and changed to Repub because my State does not have “open elections.”
Yes…that is definitely an issue. I really haven’t given much thought to the solution and I have heard of Dems who simply register to vote as Repubs for the primary, and then change back for the final election to manipulate the outcome of the ‘chosen’ candidate. It’s also my understanding that the ‘rules’ vary depending on the State. I’ve considered changing back to an Independent to simply avoid being ‘labeled’, but I have learned over time how crucial the Primaries can be. The entire ‘voting system’ is a mess. But now the road chosen by the Dems is so corrupt, I wouldn’t want to be ‘labeled’ with that at all. JFK was a Dem, but he’s thought to have been pro-life because he was Catholic. Now, we have Folks who claim to be Catholic, yet have no hesitancy in killing babies…even promote it with exuberance. Things have become very complicated. I don’t see it being resolved any time soon. It would be interesting if a Pro-life Dem ran, but I don’t think such an ‘animal’ even exists nowadays. Then again, I’d have no interest in voting for the ‘woke’, etc., anyway. So, looks like I’m ‘stuck’ with the ‘labeling’ for now.
One way to straighten things out is to remove the parties from the voting process. I think that the U.S. is the only Western country that allows this.

I confess. I watch Jesse Watters, Tucker Carlson and Hannity on Fox. I wouldn’t say ‘watch.’ I have TV on and my mind is on reading a book or something else, one ear on the TV. At 9 CDT I turn to Newsmax and see Greg Kelly, Rob Schmitt and sometimes Eric Bolling if I’m still awake. Nothing I like on Newsmax before 9:00 p.m. It’s either this schedule or murder shows.
If you haven’t watched all seasons of The Wire, you’re missing the best murder show (s) ever filmed. Next in line, 5 seasons of Fauda, Netflix Israeli series. Neither will disappoint, like Hannity eventually will.
I stopped watching any show that has lesbians or homosexuals in compromising roles and shows them being in love with hugs and kisses. That is what is now streaming out of Hollywood.
I don’t need TV. I can pick and choose what I want to know in many other ways.

Cavuto looked crestfallen the night of the 2016 election, he honestly looked physically upset as the evening wore on. I haven’t been able to like him since.
