Let me qualify this post and question by saying this is something I have wanted to ask and write about for quite a while. I often ask this question to people I meet in general life discussion, and I am very interested to hear every response. Today is a great day to ask this…
Think back… So, you are living your life, doing what you and everyone familiar to you are doing in the ordinary and regular way of living your specific life.
Perhaps you paid some attention to the political comings and goings of things, perhaps not.
Perhaps like most comfortably invisible people you were just putting one foot in front of the other, and generally doing the day-to-day things that most would consider ordinary.
Then one day, for some unknown and likely not that consequential reason, something caught your attention. Something piqued your curiosity; perhaps you noticed something you wouldn’t ordinarily have noticed. Perhaps you heard something, or saw something, or were just in a situational space where something itched your brain as you looked at something, heard something or noticed something that just didn’t quite fit or sit right.
Perhaps that little something, or big something, caused you to look just a little bit closer at the story, event or moment with a little more curiosity than before. Perhaps you dug into that specific moment with a little more than a side-eye glance, and you noticed something. After looking at it a little closer, you realized that construct was not at all what it appeared to be on the surface.
From that moment forward, for the first time, you really started to question the ‘thing’ that was in front of you, and from that moment forward, you woke up to recognize that things around you, things you perhaps didn’t pay attention to before, were not what you thought they were. It was from this moment when you really started to pay attention and your political awakening began.
Question: When was that moment for you?
I am always amazed at the replies I get in real life to this question of when the individual awakening began.
For some it was at an early age, for others much later in life. For some it was recently, and for others it was a long time ago. However, for everyone there was that moment when it started, and it is completely unique to the individual.
So, on this day, Sunday February 19, 2023, a generally innocuous day in the grand scheme of things, I pose this question to everyone.
Yes, even all the CTH lurkers who read here and never join the conversation. The comment section is open for all replies with the general rules of on-line decorum still standing. Us old schoolers still use the early internet standards of on-line discussion, and CTH requests polite and civil conversation that enlightens, expands thinking and uplifts the audience.
I am genuinely curious and will be reading every reply because it’s really cool to see what that “moment” was for each person. I’m pretty sure the entire CTH community will also enjoy reading the unique replies to the question.
We all travel a different path. We all come from different, likely comfortably invisible, life experiences. And we all merge into this big melting pot of curious people who are looking deeply at the issues we face. Regardless of how each of us arrived here, the larger dynamic is that we likely share a common curiosity for the reality of our situation. It’s a safe bet to say that almost everyone reading this is in the top-tier of “high information” consumers.
My question is not what arrived you at The Conservative Treehouse, but rather what the moment was when you began looking around and realizing that things just didn’t seem to add up. That’s the origin of the journey. That’s the moment I am inquiring about.
Perhaps it’s a weird way of looking at CTH, but our fellowship is always what has been the most important aspect to this little corner of the internet. It’s not the content of the Treehouse, but the conversation on the porch that matters. You, the readers, friends, people who assemble here, are the important element. Not me and not the site admins.
That’s genuinely the way I have always looked at our fellowship, and that’s also the reason for every detail I put into keeping this little corner of the internet standing.
So, with that in mind, what was that moment in your life when you realized the social, political and/or media narrative, was not at all what it was presented to be?
Love to all,
~ Sundance

I was running an online mortgage company in about 20 states. Business boomed for six or seven years. One day it became possible to write a mortgage for a small investor in Pennsylvania to purchase a rental home in Arizona that he’d never seen – with NO MONEY DOWN. I sold my company just before the crack broke wide open.
For years, I thought I was paying attention. I read, watched and listened all over the place, but wasn’t privy to the emerging alternative media. During the lead up to the 2016 election, I was completely exasperated. I was lukewarm on most of the candidates, but I had a pre-conceived opinion of Trump as a bombastic, arrogant, loud mouthed braggart, despite his campaign promises being solid. I just blew him off, and voted a straight Libertarian ticket, as I was disgusted with the available choices. I had no faith in a realty TV self promoter running the country.
The morning after election day, I woke the house with a loud, full blown belly laugh seeing that Trump had won. “Well, America, you’re about to get what you deserve”. Things immediately changed as I watched the absolute melt down of the left, as well as a large portion of the right. I had never before seen a president and his entire administration so persecuted. As far as I could tell, Trump followed through on his campaign promises, one after another. I have never seen that from any president. The level of persecution was also on an unprecedented level, much of it blatantly illegal. That’s when I really started to search out better information.
A friend introduced me to a couple of aggregate sites like Whatfinger. That’s how I landed here. The sites I follow has changed over time, but there is much that I get here that I see nowhere else. This remains a constant.
To take it straight to the point, it was Trump, and the events that followed his election that finally opened my eyes. He pulled the curtain back, some of it intentionally, and much more unintentionally by the reaction of the criminals on both sides of the aisle that have exposed themselves since his election. The truth is out, and it can no longer be hidden.
I was a single mom spending every day trying to make it to the next, during that tho there was always a tickle in the back of my mind. There didn’t seem to be time to look at that tickle till Obummer then it was like a rocket shot off in my mind. I haven’t been the same since.
I found CTH I think around the time Trump came on the scene 2016, 2017 not sure when. I was reading an article that mentioned CTH went to the website and boy did I get an education!!!
Thank you Sundance!!!
The first time I noticed something off was the George Zimmerman trial. At first I thought this trial was an injustice per the media narrative, so I followed it pretty closely. I was happy to learn that the media was wrong, and based on the facts thought the jury got it right. I then read my friends’ social media posts who criticized the decision, and was wondering if they saw the same trial I did (turns out they didn’t watch at all, they just form opinions based on preconceived media and racism inc. narratives). This is the first time I recognized people didn’t see the world the same way I did.
Trump and specifically the handling of Hillary’s top secret server blew the lid off. I had done government work in the past, and knew if I had done what she did, I would at minimum be permanently barred from holding a government job, and most likely be in jail. The media brushing it off with narratives I knew to be lies from first-hand experience was the real game changer. And then to top it off, the way they treated Trump, who I was impartial to. This guy was an outsider, something the media claimed to have supported for years, and here they were throwing him under the bus and elevating one of the most transparently corrupt politicians of all time in Hillary.
Poor George Zimmerman. I truly didn’t know if the jury would do the right thing. I remember the Duke boys falsely accused of rape to further Nifong’s ambitions. If a couple of those parents didn’t have a boatload of money, there is no doubt in my mind those boys would have been sent up the river. I don’t trust anything coming from prosecutors anymore.
Years ago, I used to let CNN run as background noise as it cycled through the stories of the day.
One day I ended up on Fox. I don’t think I even knew what Fox was, but I heard their report on a story.
Later, back on CNN, they reported the same story, but they completely left out a really important point! I thought at the time, that was the most important part, because that was what made me arrive at my position on that news. Without it, one would likely have come to a completely different perspective.
That started my own suspicious cat.
Soon after, I started listening to Rush, and the rest is history.

Obama. The United States is being dismantled from the inside, out. It started with this narcissist.
It was a fist mail in the coffin of my trust as a young boy, and the final nail many years later.
The final nail was how the media butchered the story of the Florida Recount to make it appear that Gore won, and ignored the subsequent developments that showed he didn’t.
But I had voted for Gore, because the media had convinced me that Bush Jr. was an idiot! Okay, maybe they were on to something there…
But the first nail was in looking at Life magazine’s cover of Teddy Kennedy in a neck brace after Chappaquiddick, while listening to my mother and her friends lamenting his injury, while ignoring his young victim! That planted in me on a lifelong distaste for celebrity Democrats, which I briefly overcame to vote for Gore – see above.
Early 60s and Vietnam when I noticed the crack in the window. Early 90s when the glass fell out.
Started when GWB ran as a compassionate conservative, first time I did not vote in the election. It was reinforced when he was at the press dinner and looked under the table and joked about weapons of mass destruction while our troops where being killed and maimed in Iraq.
1973
Watergate. Was disappointed Nixon left without a scorching earth fight against the government forces that took him down. I knew there was a cabal of the corrupt within the government from that day forward. I knew that Eisenhower’s warnings were entirely correct.
For me… it was when Congress met to “investigate” the criminal database queries made by Obama and the subcontracted “vendors” to illegally and pervasively spy on his political opposition. When Adm. Mike Rogers found out about this, blew the whistle, and Congress white-washed it… I knew something fundamentally was irreparably broken in our system of politics, and likely government at large. Of course, there were many eyebrow-raising moments before that, but for me, when the smokiest of smoking guns was swept under the carpet as “query irregularities” by both sides of the aisle, with no criminal referrals and precious few if any legislative protections, I knew we were in huge trouble. Since then, everything has been seen with the squinty eye of the cat.
When I read Atlas Shrugged about 50 years ago. From then on every day there is some reminder to harken me back to that book. Most recently the elections have demonstrated to me that there is no “one man one vote” and the outcomes are manipulated to the advantage of those counting.
2020 Election was RIGGED – ELECTION FRAUD: https://rumble.com/vdp7df-share-unmasked-have-we-uncovered-the-truth-about-the-2020-election.html;
My father a life lonf democrat voted for Trump twice! Ha passed at almost age 92. My fear is he now is back to voting democrat! One man one vote. One dead person one more democrat vote. If we can just keep these folks and the machines from voting there would be hope. Living in NJ? We’re not really as blue as people would think. But somehow the dems always manage for as long as I can remember to keep us blue by any means!
Newt Gingrich NAFTA, 1993. The lies of which outcome bears witness. Also saw proof that Unions follow the same path and procedures as Government. Was told if going to screw over someone, ease it to them don’t shove all at once. This analogy has been happening to us for many, many years.
Always had an inkling, but true recognition noticing that all legacy media is of one mind tied into the “deep state”. The handling of the Imran Awan/ Wasserman-Shultz laptop and the Anthony Weiner laptop. Organizations I trusted were only controlled opposition (RNC, Fox, Shmerkonish, etc.)
The day I heard the name Barack Hussein Obama. A mere eight years after the attack of 9/11 2001,serious people were considering this guy as presidential timbre. What??? On to Fox News and Glenn Becks chalkboard.
I was 13 years old when Kennedy was assassinated. Something didn’t seem right, even at that age. Fast forward to my 4 years in the Marines and seeing all the waste and how the Vietnam war was run, it was obvious mismanagement at every level. I’m still proud to have served though. Then after I was discharged I received a letter from the CIA, I’m assuming they wanted to “talk” to me about possible employment. I round filed that letter because of my sense they helped to kill Kennedy. Having given my life to the Lord at about that same time I realized there is only One who is faithful and true. In my opinion Psalm 2: 1-5 says it all. We are really seeing nothing new. I always kept hope, though that this government could be saved as well. Now, not so much… Thank you, Sundance for your enlightening and eye opening articles. God bless you.
Remember when Braindead Rino Susan Collins voted obama care out of conference? Republicans can’t stand you.
For me, it was late summer, 1992.
It was an event up in the Cabinet Mountains of Idaho that later became known as “Ruby Ridge”. – The Randy Weaver story. (Who passed away in 2022, incidentally) I lived far away, but had family working nearby at a sheriff department in Montana.
“Oh, yes” they said. “The dude is crazy”. “He meets with feds sometimes when he comes to town”. Well, that latter part was true. TV and other sources told us how dangerous Randy Weaver was. A trained killer. The Rambo character was derived from him. Outrageous claims. Sound familiar? To say this did not add up with me is such an understatement.. I was later able to see the 1993 Waco assault as more of the same from day one.
Sometime in the mid-nineties, I actually met Randy Weaver at a gun show. He was totally nonthreatening, nothing like what we had been told. He was like Andy Dufresne, my impression was that a stiff breeze would blow him away. Then I read about the FBI planting evidence against Weaver from Gerry Spence’s book. (Weaver’s lawyer)
“Trust, but verify” said a pretty good President. I am currently at the point where my first reaction is now distrust. How ’bout you, Sundance? What was your “Ruby Ridge” moment?
Wow, my list is long. I worked in county court for 23 years. I saw so much. The courts are corrupt, the judges are in back pockets of businesses, the unions are bias and the liars get promoted!! I always thought justice was just…however justice gets buried. I watched the Obama years create bi polar, anxiety pills for our youth, for adults and low income were put on disability, to subsidize government programs. Before my very eyes, everyone had a mental problem. Children of school age became the new social security recipients, due to parents negligence!! What a mess!
Unions didn’t want to pass contracts until they saw who was installed as President. Obamas second term, boom union contracts flowed. Every union bulletin flashed Hilary in 2015 thru 2016…Surprise surprise!! Thank you President Trump. I thought I was only a few who saw the demise of our country. I was surrounded by people pretending. When Covid hit, holy moly. The whole court system was on full display. Prisoners released, every government agency closed to the public. A once prosperous county was overrun with democrat heads on the ballot and surprise they won all the county levels of government in May 2020.
I retired in July. I knew the candidates on the county level were hellbent on every reversal of good policies. Sickening. I love our countries children and to watch through the years how school administrators created angry, frustrated, anxiety pushed medications onto children and parents became a sad reckoning for me. A whole generation on pills and programs. I thought Obama was going to be good for the country. HA. After many conversations with knowledgeable individuals, I came to understand the whole corrupt cabal. Once you know its hard to un-see!!
A big thank you to my sister for directing me to CTH! Thank you SD.
It all came together and I know longer felt like I was “a few”
When I saw – live – that the 2012 Presidential debate was rigged by the moderators and the current administration.
“Get the transcript!”
“He did in fact, sir” – less than a second later.
Rigged. He lost the election over that.
Ironically “Alex P. Keaton”
I was never one to trust what others said without some scrutiny so my awakening was in degrees. 1st minor event was in 1980 when in my 4th year in engineering school, I voted for John Anderson (I) over Reagan and Carter. He seemed a voice for truth over the perpetual BS and looking back I didn’t know anything about Reagan.
2nd in about 1989 I was donating to the environmental group NRDC but saw they were going overboard on some issue. (I wish I could recall the issue. I don’t think it was global warming) I stopped donating. I also started following the global warming topic from the technical perspective of an engineer with expertise in fluid dynamics. I realized it was a massive exaggeration and then in the latter half of the 2000’s with the help of in-depth analyses at wattsupwiththat and Steven McIntrye’s websites the croc of catastrophic anthropomorphic CO2 induced global warming was made certain.
Another event was in regards to presidential eligibility and the meaning of natural born citizen. The meaning is certain as requiring both parents to be citizens and born on the soil but the lengths everyone went to dissemble was awakening.
The next big awakening fed from this into the political arena following a number of websites until I found CTH with it’s in-depth analyses perhaps 5 years ago.
We need the details to be able to articulate and it is very hard without the help of a few geniuses like Sundance, McIntyre, and Eschenbach.
…anthropogenic…
The Trayvon Martin incident and the media’s attempt to create their own fake narrative, which lead me to Rush Limbaugh and the rest is history.
Ronald Reagan’s speech about us always being “one generation”away from losing America as we’ve known it … really piqued my attention.
However, Pope John Paul seemed to give a hopeful balance.
Then when GHW Bush was president —eek!—, there wasn’t a speech or an interview of his that didn’t leave me anxious and annoyed and suspicious!
-He seemed so condescending, arrogant and deceptive…
That fake; almost ridiculing, smirk/smile… And he seemed to use that sweet-praise-talk about “Bar ba raw”
-to hide behind.
It was during this time that tv/‘news’ people seemed to become self-anointing celebrities .
– I just wanted the news; NOT their opinions!
I wanted to know the weather report!
NOT about their children, ….their unwarranted giggles… or their personal health!!!
-News became like Good Morning America; all day and night.
And the moving stuff along the top and bottom of the screen, along with changing camera angles and the ever-changing background hues.
It all seemed to be
-deliberate distractions.
Ross Perot really opened my eyes to the chaos and abuse of the US leaders (for years)! bAM!!!
He, of course was ridiculed and/or ignored as that little man who is
– JUST a business man.
Fast forward:
Duct tape and plastic did it for me!!!!
Everything was a lie
– it seemed obvious.
Iraq????? Really???
The news and GWB totally contradicted the alleged MWD’s and the inspectors that talk radio cited in live time!
Outsourcing America was a definite killer of the fake narrative…. While daddy Bush and dishonorable “brother from another mother” were doing their bogus AIDS rubbish around the world. Oh, unity!
———————
The real light bulb:
– I awoke to a voice that was vaguely familiar.
It seemed friendly… yet, that of an instigator.
-And then I heard,
“Yes We Can”, over and over in a single speech. .
– I thought:
WHO is “we”???
and
“Can” what???
The “hope and change” was Bill’s campaign theme.
-curious that Hillary’s was about a cracked ceiling.
Listening and reading the spin (changing the meaning of what was actually said or done) by the msm… and the Van Jones’, “bottom up top down” crud was beyond insulting!
Hearing Susan Rice call the first female VP candidate a racist
– because she favored Hillary over Obama (???) was insane!
The demise of Don Imus was the the clue beyond clues!
-It was clear that race was the weapon and the shield to divide and change everything!
Snowden was a patriot to my mind from the start
James Comey saying that there is no privacy pert near exploded my brain!!!
Candidate Donald J Trump
affirmed my query. he said much of what I thought.
FINALLY, someone was talking the talk.
-The rotten apples expose themselves daily.
One day after the Rush Limbaugh show the local liberal hosts were preaching water conservation. A caller pointed out that the water in the faucet comes from the river, and water that goes down the drain goes to … the river. Guess I realized it was okay to be skeptical.
I couldn’t say what exactly stoked me to action but starting in 2012 I really started getting ready for a general collapse. I think it was Bengazi, such transparent bullshit and shameless lying. I had a big cedar deck that I took apart and turned into wainscotting, opening up some good garden soil. I cut town three big willow trees, dug up two of the stumps and fenced off a 2000 sq.ft garden. Next, I learned to garden, which is a lot of work, and does have a small learning curve. Starting seeds for instance. I got gunned up. I have had an AKS-56 since they were first imported in 1986. I bought an AR-10 for long range, and a AK pattern shotgun for close range. I canned, stockpiled food. I think I started reading Treehouse about 2015. I can see the strings, and I sure appreciate the insight of Sundance.

When President Reagan was shot … clearly the work of a 3-letter agency IMO.
As a kid (teens) I spent my entire summers on the road with my dad (Allied Van Lines). One of our helpers noted how the energy crises in the last 70s was by design (DoE). That pegged my curiosity. In the early 80s the push for bio-diesel via using algae & brackish water. Found a DoE report and the plan failed because the goal was selling this hybrid algae $$$$ but natural finds a way and kept overwriting the genetic code so they couldn’t market it. After that I look at the economics.
Last bit…
When meeting new people I like to ask about human nature and do they think we’re selfish and prideful or are we good people? Amazes me, as a believer asking a fellow believer, thinks we’re good. I then ask why did Jesus have to sacrifice Himself for us.
Dont make many friends…lol.
ditto on TWA btw.
THAT is the question. If we are so good, why did Christ have to die for our sins? You may not make many friends but you already have the only Friend you need and just maybe you made the person think.
“Remember, remember, the [9th of December]…”
Bush v. Gore: The Stay of December 9th
Do you remember December 9, 2000? Remember when five unelected Supreme Court Justices took the presidential election away from all 50 states, despite the 12th Amendment, and held the country hostage for three days? Remember how ALL NINE Justices violated their Article VI oath of loyalty by directing the fate of the nation with a ruling “limited to the present circumstances” in lieu of dismissing the case on justiciability grounds? Remember the Court dispensing with the concept of promoting “the evenhanded, predictable, and consistent development of legal principles” for just this one case?
For three days the Supreme Court wielded tyrannical power through a separation of powers violation at the highest apex possible under Article III. In fact, if you took the Stay of December 9th and held Scalia’s concurrence up to your ear, you could almost hear snickering. The Supreme Court Justice most acutely aware of how “the principle of separation of powers [is] the absolutely central guarantee of a just government”—who built his reputation on his strict adherence to that principle—ignored it completely for just this one case. On that day, Lord Antonin Scalia, Mr. “but this wolf comes as a wolf,” revealed himself to be the biggest, baddest, and most treacherous wolf of all.
At the time, I thought I had witnessed the greatest act of betrayal since Benedict Arnold. In retrospect, it was petty tyranny at best. Why? Because Congress always had the power, and obligation, to sort things out for themselves under the 12th Amendment while telling SCOTUS to shove it up their Ex parte McCardle. Gore’s concession, while noble, precluded the possibility of resolving the dispute under the 12th Amendment as the constitution provides.
Law is not a search for truth; it’s a search for truthful process. Legally speaking, the winner of the election was completely irrelevant. While resolution under the 12th Amendment may have been discomfiting, it would have been truthful process; it would have been lawful.
Just as people say they remember where they were when Kennedy was shot, I will never forget the Stay of December 9th. I’ll never forget walking through Penn Station with my friends on our way to see B.B. King—trying to tell them it was worse than the Kennedy assassination. For me, the Stay of December 9th remains the Zapruder film of the moment SCOTUS shot this nation in the head.
rush limbaugh 1988.
For me it was the 2012 Romney/Ryan vs Obama/Biden campaign. It seemed impossible to me that they could possibly lose that election, given the state of things after 4 years of Obama. So when Trump came along, the marionette strings were fully exposed for all to see clearly. Can’t go back now….
There were 2 moments that led me to question the mainstream narrative. The 1st was in 1972. I was a useful idiot at an antiwar demonstration in Germany and I saw protesters carrying the soviet flag in front of the Berlin Wall. That was mind bending and I became more open to conservative thought.
The second moment was the Travon Martin research here on the treehouse, made me aware how insidious and institutionalized the progressive juggernaut is.
The first primer for me was when I was 16 years old and my grandpa unfolded a map to show my dad. It was a pyramid of what I recall to be the New World Order. I remember near the top was the president George Bush, the a federal Reserve, banks, media companies, and on down. I want to say it was put out by Aide and Abbott. Grandpa, a used car dealer, grandma a mayor, liked gold and silver and guns, and remembered being really poor.
The real adult awakening, and the point of no return and thirst for truth happened for me on 911. A friend gave me a dvd called Loose Change, I soon after discovered Alex Jones at infowars, and James Corbett at the Corbett Report. Even then I never thought we would arrive at the reality of lock downs, threat of eating bugs for protein, or the whole trans gender issue.
When Obama was elected. The machinations and lies the powers that be and the media performed should have been obvious to all, but too many are deliberately obtuse.
I’ve been politically conservative since high school. When Rush went on in 1988 I was a junior in HS. I listed to at least a part of his show every day it was on. I knew things were really going to go down the tubes when Obama ran and won and realized there was no pushback from anyone on the right.
I’ve been professionally involved in American politics since the 1990s. What first showed me it was mostly a sham was watching the 1996 Republican presidential convention. When then-Sen. Bob Dole said he didn’t even bother reading the GOP platform I realized that something was not as it seemed. Even for a naive young man then in his 20s, the disconnect was suddenly noticeable.
The difference between statement and reality is now the measure; the chasm between the two is now the base standard. 25 years later and you see it everywhere. It cannot last.
The internet has helped greatly with my education. Encountering sites like TCH, Gateway Pundit, Wash Examiner, Unz Review, Mises Institute, Lewrockwell.com, and even anonymousconservative.com’s daily news blog reminds me that my world at work is not as it seems.
I am grateful for sites like TCH and Gateway Pundit for alerting and educating the masses on IC deception techniques, narrative control, messaging, and what ordinary normal people otherwise properly label as “lies.” The majority of politics is composed of this rot–not the Truth. And it is originated on purpose–someone is being paid to create this discord.
My interest continues to be to discover who specifically is behind all of this garbage and nonsense. The top-level characters are generally know to all here–it’s apparent who is funding this sedition, and who should be picked up in the first wave of mass arrests for brutal GITMO interrogations to suss out the entire picture.
All of this has a very, very sick human name(s) attached to it. Such a search makes the daily work a hell of a lot more interesting, I can attest to that.
The fun goes on.
I am 60, and as long as I can remember I’ve been awake to happenings. My parents purchased the Pictorial Encyclopedia of American History when I was around 6-7 because I was fascinated with history which might have been an influence. If I could center my awareness around anything it would probably be my mom telling me that with every law passed the less free we became and a trip to down South to visit relatives when I was 10 that gave me a first hand view true racism and prejudice. Growing up in a family business and being employed by small business owners until my late 30’s had an influence as well. And there have been many other things throughout life that have caught my attention and which have influenced me.
A friend about 30 years ago, told me, everything is the opposite of what it seems. Man, he was right.
I just turned 35 and woke up in 2020. A friend with a vaccine injured daughter introduced me to the Highwire during early 2020. I learned of early COVID treatment that mainstream news never spoke of. Just test then go home until you can’t breathe then go to the hospital where they will withhold food unless you accept remdesivir poisoning. Once I saw the Frontline doctors vilified after their white coat summit in DC advocating for early treatment I knew something was very wrong with the world and my entire indoctrinated family eagerly awaiting the jab. I tried to wake my parents and brother up before they took the experimental gene therapy since the trials weren’t done and vaers numbers were skyrocketing. They were all considered essential employees in Oklahoma so they got it just after the elderly. I’m blessed that my husband has been awake a long time and we are protecting our sons by homeschooling. I have learned Linux and quit my corporate job when the OSHA mandate came. I don’t regret not taking PTO while the supreme Court decided if OSHA exceeded it’s authority. I’m running my own business and spending time with my sons and husband.
TOP THREE THINGS THAT OPENED MY EYES:
Probably started when I heard him mock Woodward and Bernstein as mere stenographers. Pop culture had created the illusion that Woodward and Bernstein were super investigative journalists. To hear someone hilariously and contemptuously expose them left a lasting impression on me.
Then he opposed NAFTA, a rather odd thing to do when it was embraced by both parties. But Buchanan exposed NAFTA as the betrayal of the middle class. And he exposed the mainstream media as being on the side of globalists.
Then he called out “Americans” with dual citizenship, pointing out the obvious dangers. Treasonous spy Pollard would prove Buchanan right again.
Then he opposed the first invasion of Iraq, pointing out the emirs of Kuwait weren’t worth a single drop of American blood. Because of media manipulation, support for the invasion was broad and bi-partisan. But Buchanan wisely called it a mistake. The invasion planted the seeds for 9-11. It also lead to over 100,000 US troops with disabilities. (Don’t believe me? Check out the US Veteran’s Administration’s own website for service related disabilities. That “good war” was such a disaster tax payers are still paying for it.)
Pat Buchanan always fought hard for what was right, regardless of the odds stacked against him.
I hope history remembers that.
About 2 days after 9/11, I wondered why they kept showing the snuff videos on endkess loop set to music. The only logical conclusion is they were selling fear. Asking why then made me cry.
I’m modifying the question to “When did you begin connecting dots?” as those dots span from the late 60s through today. That tells me I’ve been paying attention to the trees, but only realizing later there’s a forest out there.
I can now recall specific statements and events from the mid 1970s when I was in college which I likely would not otherwise have recalled had I not sought a sense of clarity of the world around me -though I claim no perfection in that achievement. I’m also able to recall things from the Nixon years, though not as many as I was rather young then. I’m a Sputnik baby so there are still some memories I expect will be dredged up from my life experiences. Then there’s family lore predating my existence, from grandparents and older in-laws that I can add to my clarity-seeking. I have no reason to distrust what I recall being told, though I may disagree with some conclusions.
So, I’m trying to continually strengthen the clarity with I see and understand things. This site has been better than anywhere else I’ve nosed around in. “See things as they are, not as you hope them to be” is very important advice I first saw here. (I’ve shared this quote with many people who only read headlines and overreact).
I think the next step – there’s always a next step – is to get better at loving my enemies. I’m trying but it’s tough. Maybe this is the basis for another question to the readership here.
Grade school, when we were taught how evil the Nazis were in WWII, and rightly so, while Uncle Joe and the Soviet union, who did MUCH worse than the Nazis, were almost lionized.
Wasn’t it Kruschev who stated that the US would become a communist country without firing a shot?
…and here we are.
My 1st trip to OEF. I was bright eyed and all barrel chested. I new by the end of that trip that it was all a ruse. 2008-2009.
I post from iPad and would love to be able to post pictures but I do not know how. I wanted to post the image of Issa,Chafitz, Rooster Gowdy and whoever the toe headed goof is on the twitter files non investigation committee. These guys just cemented it for me. Always an act and never any justice meted out.
I remember especially when Trump was in office and no one would help or speak up about the constant drum of actions against him. Not one republican spoke out. I knew then and there this govt was in cohoots with one an another and then every action since has been a reaffirmation of that belief. Right about the time Sundance went on his journey into Mordor did I become a tree climber..
The Christmas bombing by the United States in North Vietnam, December 1972 (Operation Linebacker II) was the instigating event that I took notice of in January 1973 when a news report that US soldiers in Guam booed the Air Force commander John C. Meyer that had been in charge of overseeing that operation.
It just seemed odd that soldiers in the United States would boo a superior officer and my mind when “what???”
I had a distant relative with the same last name (non-related to that Commander in Chief of the Strategic Air Command) and that’s probably what was why that incident caught my attention.
I began to notice things in the ’92 election with Bush/Clinton/Perot, but my eyes still weren’t wide, wide open. I Did the 1st wave into Iraq & no weapons of mass destruction and I knew some B.S. was going on. Then came the rise of “The Black Jesus” in the 2004 Democrat Convention. Watching the media talking heads gush over him, I knew then that he would be installed in the next election.
But my eyes really came wide, wide, wide open during the Zimmerman/Trayvon manufactured racial incident and that is when I found this web site. ABC’s Matt Gutman should’ve been jailed/sued/Ass whooped for his horrendous “reporting”. Zimmerman was a lucky man to survive that media onslaught against him. We had older (Mid 70’s), white, church aquaintences that were distraught that he was found not guilty of 2nd degree murder. They are still frosty with me, to this day, after all these years, for pointing out the info I was getting from this site.
In hindsight, I have often thought back to Perot and him claiming the CIA was doctoring pictures of his daughter. I thought he was crazy at the time. I believe him now.
When Bill Clinton was excused for the Lewinsky “thing”. The lies told exceeded any belief in integrity on behalf of our leaders. That’s when I started to question all of the above and the visible corruption of the government. After that it was easy to look further back and see similar efforts to hide the truth thru history.
