Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

I see you 🙂
Hello Fellow Treepers,
A wintertime view of a bluebird nesting box in a field along a nature trail in Northeast Ohio. Photo taken by me this past Sunday during a snowfall. We’ve had similar weather conditions most of this week. Wishing you all a Happy Friday and a wonderful winter weekend!
When I took off Early Thursday morning for my run I had two new seed blocks in the cages. When I got home the cages were completely empty. My 8 feeder that I filled Wednesday morning was nearly empty also.
Sounds like you need to bring home a truck load of seeds for your feathered friends!
Any squirrels helping themselves? 🐿️
Grease the poles (marine grade) to keep squirrels and snakes out………..
Or buy corn too to feed the squirrels. We had a beautiful menagerie of wildlife and not a single one of those glorious creatures did any damage to our lawn or home. It was an honor to shelter them and protect them. We even named our squirrels and they gave us hours of entertainment and joy. We miss our wildlife. We need to protect it.
Amongst the wildlife I used to feed was…….a SKUNK!
Nope, I did not intend for THAT to happen.
It started by feeding one (1) outside cat.
Pro Tip: There is no such thing as feeding one (1) outside cat.
You feed EVERYTHING that is outside. Including skunks.
I get up at 2:50AM. One day my wife’s car was down and I was taking her to work, we left the house at 2:30AM, dropped her off, and I was back at the house by 3AM. She worked close to home back then, something I cannot imagine being able to do.
I pulled into the driveway only to see a skunk munching away on the cat food by the front door.
Sorta creates, um, ISSUES getting in the house. I pulled out a Streamlight flashlight and made a careful tactical advance on said skunk. When it looked up at me, I shined the light in its eyes and started hollering “git out of here”, which I’m pretty sure makes no sense whatsoever to a skunk. However, wiggling the flashlight for a strobe effect kinda confused the lil’ darlin’ and he meandered off toward the back of the house, looking back and likely thinking “who IS this fool?”.
Then he paused, and looked back. Leaving me in the line of fire.
More wiggling the flashlight in his eyes and hollering as I made a tactical advance in the OPPOSITE direction (at a rapid rate of speed!) created further confusion.
It was then that I realized the entry to the crawl space under the house was open, as he realized it too, and started heading that way.
Nothing good can come of that…..
Frantic wiggling of the light along with a sorta rapid advance, quartering to cut him off convinced him to scurry away.
All I needed was to have a skunk figure out being under the house was a good place to be.
Not ALL wildlife needs to be fed!
Skunks are pretty……from a DISTANCE!
Skunk oil was highly valued once upon a time.
skunks gotta eat, greg1 roflol
Our neighborhood functions as an extensive “urban parkway” allowing easy access to us from more rural areas. Thus we have a pretty steady population of not-entirely wild critters.
This includes Skunks who can actually be rather friendly little guys. One evening, I was taking our Tootle—terrier-poodle mix “Scamp” for a walk when he ran over to play (so he thought) with a baby skunk. Of course he got sprayed. Poor little guy just wanted to play . . . Tomato sauce really works to remove skunk smell from puppy fur.
Almost every dog I have ever had got sprayed once except for my Corgi/Collie mix. They only had to be sprayed once and than they never go near another skunk again
Colkitto, I will NOT tempt the fates by saying something the universe can pick up on….am gonna keep my mouth shut!
I have been behind people in the early evening, at the grocery store, buying mouthwash and other mixtures known to conquer to odor….
Now that’s an awesome attitude! 🙂
I have a baffle on the pole where the seed blocks are and it seems to work almost perfectly.
Nope! They were during the fall and would hit the seed and nuts on the ground, but since winter started I have not seen any here although I have seen one or two at other places in our area.
Hi GrandpaM,
Funny thing is I don’t remember seeing squirrels at this particular park, although I have seen deer and have reason to believe there was a coyote right near me once (heard an animal crashing through the underbrush), ironically, right where there was a sign posted saying that coyote had been observed living in the area! 🙂
Have seen Bluebirds, Tree Swallows, and House Sparrows using these nest boxes throughout the park.
Wishing you a great day!
Dry interesting. We usually hear the coyotes howling close by but they keep their distance. The squirrels are a different story. They pig out on the bird seed and this year stripped the pear tree in the beginning of June.
You’ve got a pear tree? The squirrels can have the bird seed and save the pears for me! 🙂 More seriously, I hope you get to enjoy some of your own pears this year, GrandpaM!
Just bought a 40lb bag of Sunflower seed at Tractor Supply and it was $32, last year it was $21
Hi all….my shift got cancelled…yay, too much snow to drive in…
With my new pup, I have been afraid of owls and eagles, as in Bald Eagles, (they are making an appearance in my region of IL)–early morning and late evening when I take him out, I hear the owls and occasionally more than one….the little dude was 6 lbs when I got him…just a little bigger than a squirrel, a nice appetizer for an owl…
….and am thinking, that may be why there are no squirrels at the park?
I have a nesting pair of Cardinals in one of my overgrown foundation shrubs, right by the kitchen window….
Coyotes…we got them too, in suburbia…I heard one this morning….
The cardinals are supposed to be “visitors from heaven” and I believe it…the male will perch on a branch and look at me….for a bit…I am convinced its my “parents” staying close by! I say “Hi dad” and my voice does not frighten him away….
Ya know, Aggiegirl?
You could be right … there was a Bald Eagle spotted flying over the park and in the area this year. And there’s at least one type of owl there, there’s the Barred Owl, and I think someone’s seen a Great Horned Owl.
Very cool that you have such a wonderful Cardinal guest! Whatever it is with Cardinals, the Lord blesses us with them to uplift our spirits. And puppies have nothing to fear from them as well! 🙂
We have a neighborhood garden. A few years ago, I built 2 nest boxes for blue birds. Since that time we have hatched over 44 blue bird chixs.
They are easy to build. See link and put one up in your backyard garden…………….
https://www.audubon.org/news/how-build-bluebird-nest-box
44? Now that’s impressive! 🙂
Great job sir. Most cavity nesters are hard pressed for nest sites, thus boxes help allot. Wood Duck numbers were greatly increased by various conservation organizations putting up loads of boxes, Bluebirds same thing (as long as they have appropriate habitat)
On a whim I hung up a hanging box on a old swing set, expecting to get house finches and voila I’ve had continous Bluebird broods interspersed with one Carolina Chickadee brood. High success rate as its on a chain and invulnerable to snakes & raccoons etc
Morning Ya’ll 🙂
Mornin’ jay 🙂
🇺🇸🤠🇺🇸
The way the clouds behind the trees are opening up to the glory, and the quiet flat snow on the ground . . . it makes your heart just want to soar away up out of this world, and into heaven to God.
Just Beautiful: I wish I was there. 🙂
Can’t forget about my pal, Jay 1776. Sorry I missed hat tip to you in my post below. Value you and your input immensely, friend.

Good morning jay!

Once more, thank you for providing such glorious musical choices for a Friday morning
Brazilian music—especially by these guys—is infectious. I first heard bossa-nova and then moved on to samba when I was about 17 or so. Brazilian time-signatures are complex and require serious musicianship to be played well. What I like about these videos is that everybody has really serious chops. 🙂
Morning Garrison!
Mornin’ Gramps! 🙂
Smith Wigglesworth – Ever Increasing Faith
Chapter 4 – Wilt Thou Be Made Whole?
Read John 5:1-24
I believe the word of God is so powerful that it can transform any and every life. There is power in God’s word to make that which does not appear to appear. There is executive power in the word that proceeds from His lips. The Psalmist tells us, “He sent His word and healed them” (Ps. 107:20); and do you think that word has diminished in its power? I tell you nay, but God’s word can bring things to pass today as of old. The Psalmist said, “Before I was afflicted I went astray; but now have I kept Thy word.” And again, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn Thy statutes” (Ps. 119:67,71). And if our afflictions will bring us to the place where we see that we cannot live by bread alone, but must partake of every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, they will have served a blessed purpose. But I want you to realize that there is a life of purity, a life made clean through the word He has spoken, in which, through faith, you can glorify God with a body that is free from sickness, as well as with a spirit set free from the bondage of Satan.
Here they lay, a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, around the pool, waiting for the moving of the water. Did Jesus heal everybody? He left many around that pool unhealed. There were doubtless many who had their eyes on the pool and who had no eyes for Jesus. There are many today who have their confidence all the time in things seen. If they would only get their eyes on God instead of on natural things, how quickly they would be helped.
The question arises, Is salvation and healing for all? It is for all who will press right in and get their portion. You remember the case of that Syro-Phoenician woman who wanted the devil cast out of her daughter. Jesus said to her, “Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet (fitting, appropriate) to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.” Note, healing, and deliverance are here spoken of by the Master as “the children’s bread”; so, if you are a child of God, you can surely press in for your portion. The Syro-Phoenician woman (Mark 7:24-30) purposed to get from the Lord what she was after, and she said, “Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs.” Jesus was stirred as He saw the faith of this woman, and He told her, “For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.” Today there are many children of God refusing their blood-purchased portion of health in Christ and are throwing it away, while sinners are pressing through and picking it up from under the table, as it were, and are finding the cure not only for their bodies, but for their spirits and souls as well. The Syro-Phoenician woman went home and found that the devil had indeed gone out of her daughter.
Today there is bread, there is life, there is health for every child of God through His all-powerful Word. The Word can drive every disease away from your body. It is your portion in Christ, Him who is our bread, our life, our health, our all in all. And though you may be deep in sin, you can come to Him in repentance, and he will forgive and cleanse and will receive them. There is a promise in the last verse in Joel, “I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed.” This is as much as to say He will provide new life within. The life of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, can so purify men’s hearts and minds that they become entirely transformed, spirit, soul and body.”
There they are round the pool; and this man had been there a long time. His infirmity was of thirty-eight years standing. Now and again an opportunity would come, as the angel stirred the waters, but his heart would be made sick as he saw another step in and be healed before him. But one day Jesus was passing that way, and seeing him lying there in that sad condition, inquired, “Wilt thou be made whole?” Jesus said it, and His word is from everlasting to everlasting. This is His word to you, poor, tried and tested one today. You may say, like this poor impotent man, “I have missed every opportunity up till now.” Never mind about that — Wilt thou be made whole?
Song of Solomon 5:2-8 “I sleep, but my heart wakes: it is the voice of my beloved that knocks, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them? My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my heart was moved for him. I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock. I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer. The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me. I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if you find my beloved, that you tell him, that I am sick of love.”
He who said, ‘I will open My mouth in parables;” said also, “The words I speak to you are Spirit, and they are life.” The Song of Songs, which is Solomon’s, is a parable in the form of poetical composition. It may, or may not , have been put to musical accompaniment: but it was in the genre of old time, sung as an epic, a long poem, whose story tells of great events.
Why this precious and important book of the Bible is probably by far the most neglected and avoided, is because it is very misunderstood. The degradation of morals and character that has resulted in our ‘modern-day’ understanding of such intimate things as the love between a man and a woman; has made it extremely difficult to grasp the real spiritual meaning out of these really most good and normal and beautiful things of God, which He has created in man. We have to read, and understand what we read, in the purity and virtue of the Spirit which inspire the words and the imagery.
“I sleep, but my heart wakes . . .” The Song is spiritual, and must be interpreted spiritually. The scene is, the woman lying on her bed at night to sleep; when her heart is suddenly awakened by the familiar voice of her beloved, knocking at the door: “Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled; for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night.” He is not calling her to come outside, but to let him in. She is quietly sleeping, and then her heart hears his voice; but she hesitates, and complains, “I have put off my coat, how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet, how shall I defile them?” Her comfort and convenience is causing her to put off and deny her beloved standing outside in the night. She doesn’t think of Who He Is, she doesn’t think of his uncomfortably and inconvenience: she is selfish and lazy and stubborn. Her beloved doesn’t give up so easily, and is willing to accommodate her; so he tries to get in by himself. Now her heart convicts her, she hears him trying to work open the lock, and she gets out of bed to come open the door. Then she is overcome by the perfume of myrrh, as she puts her hands and fingers on the handles of the lock; and she stops! Was she surprised and didn’t understand? The powerful bitter sweet perfume of the myrrh immediately conjures thoughts around burial; and she is momentarily stunned and disabled. *The bitter sweet perfume of the Spirit in the sufferings and death of Christ meet us, just as we are about to turn the handles of the lock to our heart.
The delay in opening the door, however, has caused the beloved to withdraw; and by the time she recovers herself, he is gone. She calls to him, but he gives no answer. She already knows what just happened, and says it; “My soul failed when He spoke.” She looks for him, but she cannot find him; she calls his name, but no one answers. When we delay and hesitate to respond to our Beloved Jesus, and we are stopped from opening the locks on the door of our heart, because of the smell of the myrrh; He is right to withdraw, and not answer right away when we call to Him.
The man is the head of the woman; and Christ is the head of the church. When He comes to our door calling for us to open to Him; we do not then decide and choose whether to do it; we respond immediately in love and respect for Who He IS. Just like we don’t decide to come to Jesus and accept Him; but God calls and we respond to His call. He is the one who calls, and does the accepting. The fact that He has even come to the door and knocked, already makes Him the initiator of the love. The lazy and selfish and stubborn refusal to get up and open immediately to Him, deserves to feel the sting of His withdrawing and silence.
So there she goes, out into the night, and out into the city alone; calling and crying like an idiot. The watchmen are going about their rounds through the streets of the city, and the keepers of the wall are on guard. What are they supposed to do with this? What are our fellow Christians supposed to do with us, when they find us in such a state and so disordered in her mind, running around alone at night? They take away her veil to see who she is; they smite her and wound her, for her foolishness. “Let the righteous smite me, and it shall be a kindness; which shall not break my head; for my prayer also shall be in the time of their affliction.” And, “Faithful are the wounds of a friend.” It is written in the law, that “we shall not hate our brother in our heart; but we shall in any wise rebuke our neighbor, and not suffer sin upon him.” And a wise ear hears reproof.
The scene ends, and the music pauses, on an inconclusive note: the woman is sobbing out pleas for her friends and companions; If anyone sees my Beloved, tell Him for me; I am sick in love. Repentance comes from love, that acknowledges the wrongs its done, and wants more than anything, to be restored to the Beloved. But part of the process of her restoration, is that she has to wait now for Him to return.
Clayton Morris: NATO is going to get us ALL killed with this move
Ukraine is NOT going to Win this War. Read a Scott Ritter article today. He writes that even with all the tanks that everyone is giving Ukraine, it is less than half what they need / requested to do what they want to do – to launch a counter-offensive to push the Russians out of currently occupied territory.
It isn’t about Ukraine winning. The powers that be are attempting to embroil the world into a nuclear conflict. The jabbing and starving us to death is outted. Now they are moving ahead with Plan B.
Daniel 7:8 “I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.”
Daniel 8:24 “And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.”
Matthew 24:15 “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)”
There have been many over the long time, who have had feelings and guessings about the interpretation of these prophecies. Jesus said, “When you see . . . let him that reads understand;” which I think tells us, that when its time to get on the train, we will have a ticket,so to speak. As the time draws near, I believe the Lord will make sure we know; and until then we are to wait in faith, that the Father has all things in His own authority.
I also believe they are depleting our Petroleum Reserves, military equipment (Ukraine & Afghanistan) to allow China to take Taiwan (which has been containing them) and who knows what else. The CFR which controls both parties, media, and corporations (most) has been building up China while deconstructing and destroying America for decades. PDJT & MAGA are their biggest enemies as was Buchanan & MAFA in the 90’s.
Besides that Ukraine simply does not have the population of military age people necessary to sustain such an action.
It didn’t help when 2-3 million Ukrainians fled Ukraine within the first couple of weeks
Good morning Treepers
Wow ! Those Paws !!! 🥰
I’m not sure what kind of Baby that is , though by the Beautiful Looks of it (and its paws 😀) it is going to be Huge when it grows up 😊
Looks Cuddly Now 🥰
I believe that’s a Siberian tiger. They’re cute when they are cubs, but I don’t think I’d want to have an adult tiger in my backyard or living room. Yes, the paws on that cub are huge.
Memory trigger….Back in the day…we used to take the kids to Lincoln Park Zoo…the first stop was always, the big cat house….The tigers were so beautiful back then, late 80’s…now they have been replaced I think, with lions…their coats looked as if they were almost artificial as they were so perfect in the coloring.
I will never forget seeing one tiger pacing back and forth…and looking at the size of his feet!
The focus is lions now…
https://blockclubchicago.org/2022/03/17/a-lion-cub-was-born-at-the-lincoln-park-zoo-for-the-first-time-in-20-years/
Long ago and far away (Salt Lake City, early 80s)….I had a temp job with the Royal London Circus when they came up from Las Vegas. I worked as a prop handler; set up the props for the various circus acts, putting up the tents, trapezes, etc.
During one of the shows, myself and a couple of other workers would let the tigers out of their cages and watch them jump onto the ground where the stage was. When they roared, it was deafening, and watching them move out of the cages was a sight to behold. These were Bengal tigers that weighed between 350-500 pounds.
The supervisor warned us not to stick our hands through the mesh on the cages; do not attempt to pet them. Otherwise the cats would have some finger food before leaping towards the stage.
Lions, tigers, leopards, panthers, cougers ,etc. Magnificent cats and they need to be protected, not hunted.
What an awesome experience! Not your average housecat, I assume, LOL.
I know the tigers at Lincoln Park Zoo kind of mesmerized me…they were huge! And so beautiful!
Tigers do have enormous feet. And the stripes on their coats. Very beautiful .
I looked at the lion cub in the article you linked. Awwww.
He does have big feets!
Well, now’s the time, if you wanna make friends. What a strong beauty! Cats of all kinds are really fascinating creatures, and intelligent. How do you ever know what a cat is thinking?
I like the blue eyes.
Good morning, toe dangling, tree climbing friends.
We’ve had such joy heading to the Exotic Feline Rescue in Center Pointe, Indiana. Very reasonable to go $10/adult. Interesting, mostly the women take care of those beasts now save the gentleman who owns it and a volunteer that comes to help… but most of the rest are all smiling, hard laboring women. They’re wise and beautiful with their smiles braving the cold and one of them an hour commute from Bloomington each day.
A fine organization worth supporting.
The cats (and now foxes) are majestic. Sad stories at how those cats came to be there, but watching them live their best lives now is something truly to behold.
There’s a little Kitchen Table diner off the freeway. It makes a great day for Americana.
Blessings to you all. I’m not commenting as much, but I’m reading everything and making my check marks to like your posts. Lots going on right now.
Love you sister and brothers. GrandpaM, Garrison, Rah, Betsy, Phoenix, Aggiegirl, Colkitta, Jalapeno, Mary (she seems to be missing lately?), Joe 12, Leon, and if I’m missing anyone, I’m sorry. A little sleeplessness going on makes for cranky lassy.
The Tree has been crowded.
Where are this lands courageous men? Glad to know a few of them right here on this Tree. A privilege to make your acquaintance.
Good morning JWoo. Sounds like you could use a little prayer right now. One going up. 🙏🏻❤️
Good morning, Pa. We value your prayers and thank you for them. We need them, as much as anyone else in our dear, beautiful American country. We are all suffering together. We just stand on The Lord’s Word to shield us all under His Big Beautiful Wings. Psalm 91
Love to you and yours, GrandpaM
Another one just sent…lifting you up in prayer.
😊
JWOO…I am humbled to see my name included….thank you! Betsy is a heart we should all strive for…her loving comments helped get me thru losing my buddy, sheltie boy, Blaze, last April….Betsy has a very dignified and loving way with words, for which i love her! Rah, a good Hoosier….Garrison….awesome…and all rest…including our friend, the practical Dutchman….
And everyone else you mention and those missed…they know you have their hearts, too.
Be well and hang in there! Blessings to you and yours!
Hi JWoo,
Hey, who you callin’ a man? While it’s an honor to be on your list, I self-identify as a bird! (Hence, my name “phoenix”) … The better to fly around the Treehouse and perch on its branches! 🙂
Anyways, keeping you in prayer, and it’s always good to see you!
Whaaaa???? Did I call you a “man”? Pretty sure you a chica and not a chico?
I self-identify as the President – let’s go write some Executive Orders!!! ROFLOL
You and me are going to go play together some day. The kid wants to go back to the Wright Patterson AFB and scope out the museum sometime… and whatever other discoveries we can get into over there. One quick trip for the MercyMe / Chris Tomlin concert at Nutter Center wasn’t enough.
LOL! I was just telling some folks at church a couple of days ago that I self identify as the Emperor of our county and my pronoun is Your Majesty. 😂
Hi JWoo,
You said in your post, “Where are this land’s courageous men? Glad to know a few of them right here on this tree.”
So that got me to wondering whether you meant “man” as in “male” or “man” as in “mankind”? Or else you don’t see any courageous women around here? There are some in America, fer shurr!
Definitely would be cool if we could meet in person some day. 🙂
Well put Phoenix. On the OT I feel more like a Golden-winged warbler than a Colkitto.
This feels kinda like a challenge for me to track down a Golden-winged Warbler this year, Colkitto! Sure appreciate the nice and helpful ID photo … So, with you being a warbler and me a phoenix, does that mean we’re for the birds? And anyways, what exactly is a Colkitto? Closest I can come is “Cool Kitteh” … 🙂
They are much sought after. I have been lucky enough to see and hear them 3 times in my old Warbler walks and in their breeding range which was a bit further north in NJ. Their call is very simliar to a Blue-winged with an added “buzz” to the blue-winged’s “buzz-buzz”.
They have the added problem of being more of a habitat specialist than their close cousin the Blue-winged, and interbreeding with the Blue-winged, which than through crossbreeding lose the Golden-winged. It has 2 distinct breeding populations one in the Appalachian mtns and one around the Great lakes which interestingly winter in 2 different locations. Unfortunately the Appalachian population winters in venzuela and their habitat is being destroyed and their numbers have plunged dramatically.
The Mystery of the Golden-winged Warbler’s Decline Starts to Unravel
https://www.audubon.org/news/the-mystery-golden-winged-warblers-decline-starts-unravel
Colkitto was a famous Scots/Irish warrior
Thanks for your kind explanations! 🙂
Good morning JWoo. Thanx for including me in your comment; hope all is well with you. I posted a photo of a couple of cuties in a comment below this one. Hope you like ’em.
Just mean, Joe. Just mean. Even thinking of scheming to run out and adopt and bring back as a surprise to the kiddo. Danny’s bro Timmy just isn’t the same. He’s still sweet and majestic, just a little sad and not grooming as much. I am sure he is learning to groom on his own, whereas when Danny was around… they took care of each other. The 3 yo Maine Coon is trying to engage him – but they haven’t mastered the art of MMA fighting fairly yet. The 3 yo is a little lover bear, while Timmy is still making sure he understands that Tim remains the Alpha. We do lots of claw trims here to prevent impalings.
Beautiful story as usual friend and I am honored you included me amongst my much more worthy Treepers.
Rufous -sided Towhee
You post beautiful birds. 😍
Ty so much. believe it or not, it’s in the Sparrow family. They were nesters in my beloved woods, more common where I live now, they visit my winter feeding station area. They are striking.
I Know what That One is ~
a Cute Little Kittie Cat 😻
Ya killin’ me, Smalls. LOL So precious.
2 more
I will take them BOTH!!!! And immediately get them an awesome habitat at the Exotic Feline Rescue where they deserve to run, play, and eat lots of MEAT.
Change of scenery here. How about something by Andres Segovia?
This kind of music is in my Heaven
Would love to visit this place. Rural Spain
Can we go with?
Reminds me of the Spaniard Gladiators place in the movie.
Great flick
It was a great movie. Russel Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Richard Harris, Oliver Reed, and Derek Jacoby at their finest. It illustrated what corruption can do to an empire.
Can you imagine what it was like living in Rome or North Africa around 186 AD? Anything Ridley Scott produced focused on accuracy of that time period.
We are kindred Spirits, Joe.
I forgot to mention Connie Neilson. She did quite well in “Gladiator”.
Oliver Reed drank himself to death in a bar in Malta.
I believe Richard Harris sobered up, but he also passed away sometime during the filming of “Harry Potter”. When he was alive, Harris claimed that he lived in a haunted house for a while.
Oliver Reed had a large scar on his face that was a souvenir from a bar fight he was in.
RIP you guys.
Galicia Spain cuisine is off the charts great! One of the things I really miss. Gorgeous country also.
Same here. The land looks very rich and productive for farming and raising horses, livestock, etc. Alot of scenes in “Gladiator” were filmed in Italy, Morocco, and probably Spain.

Look Again and Think
Do not worry about your life… —Matthew 6:25
A warning which needs to be repeated is that “the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches,” and the lust for other things, will choke out the life of God in us (Matthew 13:22). We are never free from the recurring waves of this invasion. If the frontline of attack is not about clothes and food, it may be about money or the lack of money; or friends or lack of friends; or the line may be drawn over difficult circumstances. It is one steady invasion, and these things will come in like a flood, unless we allow the Spirit of God to raise up the banner against it.
“I say to you, do not worry about your life….” Our Lord says to be careful only about one thing— our relationship to Him. But our common sense shouts loudly and says, “That is absurd, I must consider how I am going to live, and I must consider what I am going to eat and drink.” Jesus says you must not. Beware of allowing yourself to think that He says this while not understanding your circumstances. Jesus Christ knows our circumstances better than we do, and He says we must not think about these things to the point where they become the primary concern of our life. Whenever there are competing concerns in your life, be sure you always put your relationship to God first.
“Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34). How much trouble has begun to threaten you today? What kind of mean little demons have been looking into your life and saying, “What are your plans for next month— or next summer?” Jesus tells us not to worry about any of these things. Look again and think. Keep your mind on the “much more” of your heavenly Father (Matthew 6:30).
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
Am I getting nobler, better, more helpful, more humble, as I get older? Am I exhibiting the life that men take knowledge of as having been with Jesus, or am I getting more self-assertive, more deliberately determined to have my own way? It is a great thing to tell yourself the truth.

It might have been noted here already:
Gerard VanderLeun at American Digest is in the last days of his life.
I have been a reader there for many years and I have been delighted by his stories well written.
Saying a prayer every night for a merciful passing into a new life for him.
Gratitude for what he will be leaving us with.
Gerard Van der Leun passed away this morning. We will miss him dearly.

Marvin stated that he could not locate David Vanek. Is it possible that Vanek was “sheep dipped”?
Sorry I didn’t answer yesterday. Too darn tired.
Something you and others here may not know.
There was a big fire at took out the military records of many officers in 1973. Appears the records destroyed, for which there were no duplicates, span a likely period for Vanek.
The 1973 Fire, National Personnel Records Center | National Archives
I learned about it when on the Madison County Cemetery commission and was applying for records to acquire military grave stones for veterans.
Thanx for response. And that fire could have been the reason for Vanek’s record being unavailable.
There are other ways to go about such a search. Inquiries for military unit roosters, pay records, and searching through Newspaper archives. But it is a lot of work and one can come up empty handed or with inconclusive evidence.
Rah,
The cemetery near Clifty Falls? My father is buried there. Bless you for helping sustain that place.
I miss him but glad he’s not here to see this. He would go to war.
Clifty Falls is in southern IN. I was on a volunteer commission in Madison County North of Indianapolis. Our commission identified and restored cemeteries that predated the laws providing for perpetual care and not being taken care of by a Church. The care of the cemetery was then passed to the township trustee in which the cemetery was located. Since trustees are elected there are scumbags among them that do not do their duty. In those cases we would go back in and restore the cemetery once the scumbag was out of office.
Restoration included identifying grave locations and the individual buried there if possible. During the depression part of the make work projects was an attempt to identify the burial places of all veterans. Surveys of the project include the layout of the cemetery with the location of the veterans graves found and who those veterans were.
When we found that a veterans grave stone was damaged we would apply to the VA for a new one and receive and install it. If through research we found the grave of a veteran that had not been found by the survey we would get a stone for it and place it.
After identifying the cemetery locations we would approach the owner of the land and ask him/her to deed it to the county for which they would receive a property tax break. Once that was settled we would then probe to find the grave stones or the foundations stones. Often it was not too hard to locate them because back in those days they did not use vaults. The vaults we use now are what prevent the ground over the casket from collapsing. Without a vault the coffin degrades and then collapses under the weight of the ground leaving a depression.
Even without a depression it was not that difficult because the majority of cemeteries were laid out in rows with the feet of the deceased facing east.
Many of the old cemeteries started out as family plots. But there were two traces in the county that had been routes followed for the pioneers moving west. The primary one following the White River. Of course people died on the trail and when they did they would, get permission from a local land owner to bury their dead in their family plot. So there are quite a few individuals that have no family living in the county or even the state Indiana. We would get inquiries about family members from all over the world, but mostly from other states and Europe.
The state law under the authority which we worked was not all inclusive for the state. It left it up to the individual counties if they wanted to establish and fund such a commission.
The retired members of the commission did the research. They were all members of the county Historical Society. I mostly provided the expertise for restoration including contracting for any landscaping and for fencing and for repair of damaged stones and resetting of stones.
One learns a great deal about the history of their county doing this kind of work.
Rah, thank you. I apologize. I was thinking Madison (city), IN (Southern IN) and not Madison County.
My dad’s buried just 2 miles up from the Clifty Fall campground in the military cemetery there. It made our first camping trip together, so much more meaningful to see him too. We don’t bang the drum for our dead – we believe our Spirits leave our bodies and are as one in Heaven so the body is a heap of carbon – but seeing our unique name on the grave stones means something. If our name is uttered – they are absolutely one of us (for better or for worse) — because our strain is very unique and not necessarily expanding. My girl carries my family name and it’s an honorable one.
That is great and noble work that you did. You and Sherry never cease to amaze me with your stories. Such a deep and rich life lived. I pray I have half the legacy for my daughter. I’m a military daughter (US Army Military Police Officer) and military ex-wife (US Army Military Intelligence Analyst). My daughter has a deep love of the history and the aircraft. (She wants to fly Hueys – she’s no slouch or wilting flower.)
We thank you for the service you performed.
If she wants to fly a Huey, she’ll have to go to USMC and fly the two engine version, because I don’t believe any other service is still flying them.
Don’t me wrong. I love the Hueys, that distinctive sound, and vibration. But the first time I got in a Black Hawk the difference was like that between an old Volkswagen bug and a powerful Caddilac.
She hasn’t experienced a Black Hawk yet. Lord help me. We’re not thinking military due to potato-in-chief. Right now we are thinking domestic aircraft, maybe airlifts to drilling rig platforms, etc. Good business there and a great way to supplement college tuition if the dream of becoming a Circuit Judge develops further. (God help her – but good for the country if she does!)
She flew her first Cessna on her 16th birthday with an instructor who was all of 24 years old and very handsome. God help me. She’s hooked. She loves aircrafts and cool cars – she’s a guy’s girl, fortunately she has an incredible red head on her shoulders and doesn’t take crap. (Thanks to some coaching from dear old Mom.)
I hear there may be a demand for unvaxxed pilots. Could be a great gig and only about $12 to 14K for a first stage pilot’s license. Kids can achieve a pilots license at 15 years of age… before they can even drive. I feel safer with her up there… than I do here on the ground.
I love her already! The fellowship of red-heads….!
What do you call a red head with an attitude?
“Normal”!
Memory trigger…military maneuvers in the old Canal Zone…Hueys by the dozens….
Good morning Treepers! ✝️
PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
Love to you, Duchess. Such beautiful reminders and you are a blessing to post them.
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

Mornin’ all!
I’ve always admired this man…….his cooking, his humble approach to life, his tv shows, his love of family, his love for America.
His autobiography is a good read.

Keep cooking Treepers………….
Thanks, UC, for the encouragement! For years hubs and I have done all the cooking for family. Even clean-up. Every time another get-together arrives, I say this is the last time. It’s hard as we age! But we also view it as a gift of love.
Hi ma’am. I read all the kind replies from yesterday and could not post back because I was at work. I promise to tell you all when I make a decision on getting some fur family members (cats or dogs or both?).
I just had my heart torn as Kipling said, from my Corgi/Collie/Shepard mix passing away after being the greatest dog/family member in the world. They all are special but she was one in a trillion. Regards
Hello C! Nice of you to “circle back!” 😂 (and understand if you don’t)
All of us enjoy your posts – but in the real world, realize the many demands on everyone – esp work!
Hope you can find that special creature though. They add so much to our lives.
Love the quote – it’s true. You can tell a lot about someone based on how they treat animals…

Good Friday morning folks!
An awesome article from American Thinker ~ I, Fentanyl, written by Jeffrey Stamm.
This is a first person recount of how fentanyl (thinks) works and kills. Brilliant piece!
FTA:
“My lesson is simple: given my awesome power to enslave and destroy, you no longer have the luxury (as if you ever did!) of believing in the utopian fantasy of solely controlling the problem of illegal drug use and trafficking through your oft-misplaced compassion, while speciously deriding all enforcement-oriented measures as part of some failed “war.” You will subdue my “recreational” abuse only by demanding individual self-control among your people. Any government rubric, whether oriented toward supply or demand, can only ever be part of the solution. You will need to remind your people — often — that freedom is important not only for doing what you want, but also, and especially, for doing what you ought, as Lord Acton so eloquently warned.
Your society — indeed, your civilization — is worth fighting for. And, whether you wish to recognize it or not, fight you must. Unless your meek and endlessly tolerant society earnestly begins to battle my wicked purveyors, and those criminal, governmental, and commercial structures that support them, I, fentanyl, will destroy everything and everyone in my path.
The choice is yours.”

I don’t usually post songs – leaving it to the masters here. However, this seems appropriate today with all the word play that’s going on right now.
“when one little cross leads to shots, grit your teeth”
One thing leads to another… let’s all sing together, shall we? You know, in the SUNSHINE!
The deception with tact
Just what are you trying to say
You’ve got a blank face, which irritates
Communicate, pull out your party piece
You see dimensions in two
State your case with black or white
But when one little cross leads to shots, grit your teeth
You run for cover so discreet
Why don’t they do what they say, say what you mean? Oh, baby
One thing leads to another
You tell me something wrong, I know I listen too long but then
One thing leads to another
The impression that you sell
Passes in and out like a scent
But the long face that you see
Comes from living close to your fears
If this is up, then I’m up, but you’re running out of sight
You’ve seen your name on the walls
And when one little bump leads to shock miss a beat
You run for cover and there’s heat
Why don’t they do what they say, say what they mean?
One thing leads to another
You tell me something wrong, I know I listen too long but then
One thing leads to another, yeah, yeah, yeah
One thing (one thing) leads to another
Then it’s easy to believe
Somebody’s been lying to me
But when the wrong word goes in the right ear
I know you’ve been lying to me
It’s getting rough, off the cuff, I’ve got to say enough’s enough
Bigger the harder, he falls
But when the wrong antidote is like a bulge on the throat
You run for cover in the heat
Why don’t they do what they say, say what they mean?
One thing leads to another
You tell me something wrong, I know I listen too long but then
One thing leads to another, yeah, yeah
One thing (one thing) leads to another
One thing (one thing) leads to another
One thing (one thing) leads to another
One thing (one thing) leads to another
One thing (one thing) leads to another

Here is one for a snowy day….sorry about the adds…
Hello my American friends,
Today is the Memorial Day of the Holocaust. At the age of 17 my father escaped his home in Poland on bicycle and crossed to Russia.
He Became a part of the large Jewish division in Russia who were sent to their death against the Nazies. He missed the day that his friends were sent to an impossible battle and annihilated because he was injured a few days before. He fought the Nazies till they lost.
He was decorated in Russia for bravery and went back to his home in which he find out that his home was occupied by strangers. His parents sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, were all murdered and he find himself alone in the world.
He escaped Russia and managed to arrive to Italy from which he immigrated to Israel with hundreds of refugees on a ship .
Upon his arrival he was put in jail by the British occupier. He later joined the resistance who were trying to get the British out of there. He then joined the first Officer course of Israel and was from the founders of the Israeli artillery.
in 1948 the day of the declaration of Independence of Israel he fought along with the Israeli Defense Force against eight Arab Armies and won at a heavy cost in human lives. He then fought three more wars to defend the State of Israel at a high rank, he was injured and continued.
My mother was less “lucky” as at around 16 she was in Auswitz death camp. While her survival was a miracle and she managed to raise a family, her mental health was badly ruined and she had a lot of treatments over the decades until her death.
The motto of this Memorial Day is Never Again. It’s also the motto of the Israeli Army and a part of the reason why it’s so strong. We the sons, daughters and grandchildren of the survivors have served and are serving in the defense of the nation. Never Again. I am attaching here two videos:
Hello David, thank you for these amazing stories! What a heritage! I pray for the peace and strength of Israel, too.
The motto, “Never Again” is perfect. Would it be okay – even in thoughts – to add “Never Forget?”
Blessings to you, and upon Israel.
Thank you.
A man that fought nearly his whole life! God bless him. And God Bless Israel.
He made it to 92. He is no longer with us. He witnessed and helped with the revival of Israel from nothing to a strong state.
This is the list I’ve been able to compile so far of the words that we may find on food packages that are words for the bugs; would love for others who discover new words food processors will be using to identify the bugs in their ingredients so we can have a comprehensive list of no, not me, not eating bugs Mr. WEF!
Not a scientist, just a food shopper who has quietly been creating a list as news articles on bugs in the foods appear, writing down the words the food manufacturers are required to list on their labels to identify ze bugs.
Acheta Domesticus – house crickets
Chitins, Chitosan, Chitosan nanoparticles – field crickets
Tenbrio molitor -mealworms
Cochineal – also Cochineal extract – from dried crushed scale beetles for red food dye
Blattoda also Blattodea – cockroaches
Locusta migrans – migrating locusts
Hydrogels seems to be a catch-all word for a combination of bugs
Brand names already with the bugs:
Actually Foods (Canada)
Entomo Farms
Maple Leaf Foods
Circle Harvest
apparently there are two ingredients that are very dangerous because only birds can digest them, and if humans eat these two items one is ingesting living bugs that embed inside human organs (because they aren’t killed in the processing):
Metamorphic steroids and Ecdysterone
Thanks very much for compiling and posting this helpful information, Bessie2003! I’m definitely making a note of it.
Carmine
From powerfoodhealth.com “Carmine is a dye that’s found in some food products to create a red color. The food colorant is also called cochineal extract, which comes from the insect species Dactylopius coccus Costa. These cochineal bugs used to harvest carmine are mainly harvested in Peru and the Canary Islands, where the insects live on prickly pear cacti.”
Check it out in Ocean Spray drinks. I still drink Ocean Spray, but I like to be picky about the bugs I ingest. I especially love softshell crabs in sushi and have been known to eat a cajun style mud bug or two. LOL
Thanks; adding Carmine to the list.
I passed your list on to my e-mail list.
Thank you.
The last two are steroid hormones that help insects do metamorphosis in order to turn from larvae to adults. Other insect hormones are similar to human hormones; I wouldn’t want to eat either of these.
Thank you Bessie, I copied the list to send to family.

MORNING
Ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins and in him is no sin. I John 3:5
God, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,. . who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. Heb. 1:1-3
He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. II Cor. 5:21
Pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold; … but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you. I Pet. 1:17-20
The love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: and that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. II Cor. 5:14, 15
EVENING
I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life. Deut. 30:19

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. John 15:22

Shalom American friends,
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. Never Again!
If you ever visit Israel in this day or in the Memorial Day of the soldiers you will see the all nation stopping and giving respect to the souls of the dead. I haven’t seen anything like this in any other country.. See below how it looks in Tel Aviv. A four minutes video.
Shalom. Very moving.
Shalom David!
