On Giving Thanks to the Creator:
“As thou takest thy seat at table, pray. As thou liftest the loaf, offer thanks to the Giver. When thou sustainest thy bodily weakness with wine, remember Him Who supplies thee with this gift, to make thy heart glad and to comfort thy infirmity. Has thy need for taking food passed away? Let not the thought of thy Benefactor pass away too.
As thou art putting on thy tunic, thank the Giver of it. As thou wrappest thy cloak about thee, feel yet greater love to God, Who alike in summer and in winter has given us coverings convenient for us, at once to preserve our life, and to cover what is unseemly. Is the day done? Give thanks to Him Who has given us the sun for our daily work, and has provided for us a fire to light up the night and to serve the rest of the needs of life…”
On Eating:
“When you sit down to eat, pray. When you eat bread, do so thanking Him for being so generous to you. If you drink wine, be mindful of Him who has given it to you for your pleasure and as a relief in sickness. When you dress, thank Him for His kindness in providing you with clothes. When you look at the sky and the beauty of the stars, throw yourself at God’s feet and adore Him who in His wisdom has arranged things in this way. Similarly, when the sun goes down and when it rises, when you are asleep or awake, give thanks to God, who created and arranged all things for your benefit, to have you know, love and praise their Creator.”
On Worldly Troubles:
“Troubles are usually the brooms and shovels that smooth the road to a good man’s fortune; and many a man curses the rain that falls upon his head, and knows not that it brings abundance to drive away hunger.”
Blessings to all!

Menagerie, Thank you for this magnificent prayer!
Thanksgiving blessings to all.
Thank you, Menagerie for posting that prayer.
I especially needed that third part today. I happened to read it at just the time I needed it most.
Today is my first attempt to cook a turkey (breast) solo. With appropriate fixings, mind you.
Wish me luck.
To all of those travelling for this holiday, please do so safely.
Happy Thanksgiving,
John
Things came out just fine. I’m pleasantly surprised myself.
Among so many things to be thankful for, where to start?
Steady work, the ability to care for an ailing relative, generally decent health, good friends, the ability to read and follow the instructions on the package and not wrecking the dinner.
Happy Thanksgiving all,
John
God bless Sundance and all who come here. May you all have a wonderful and blessed day with family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving!
Amen! Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Amen
I’ve prepared fo Thanksgiving dinner. Everything is ready. House is clean. Worked very hard on it and thankful that I have a job, and therefore, was able to afford it. However, I was somewhat dismayed that all the work was left up to me.
Well, I got a lesson for being dismayed instead of thankful that I had the means and energy to do all that. I dropped the baking sheet with the last batch of cookies into the oven.
Needless to say that the bits burned inside of the oven and smoke was coming out. I frantically cleaned the oven. Opened the windows and aired the kitchen out. I knew right there and then that I needed to check my attitude and be thankful instead of dismayed.
Then I read this post. So true. I’m thankful for the lesson I received, too.
You are so right. “When you judge another, you judge yourself, for you are guilty of that thing—says bible. Happy Thanksgiving!
you are a GEM! thank you for this post.
“Thankfulness takes the sting out of adversity. That’s why I have instructed you to give thanks for everything. There is an element of mystery in this transaction: You give Me thanks (regardless of your feelings), and I give you Joy (regardless of your circumstances.)” Jesus Calling…
Blessings of plenty to all, plenty of love, plenty of companionship, plenty of ourselves for others. All is love from our lord, the smiles, the conversations, the trouble and work to achieve the moments of this blessing we gather for. Know where the love is from and encourage others to partake that opportunity without reserve for the moments together are what matter. Eternity is that moment you cherish, “I am” is his name
Beautiful, Pale Rider! A happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, to Menagerie for the prayer from St. Basil today, to Sundance for all the work and funds it takes each year to create such an amazing place to come to learn and to share our thoughts, and to all my companion Treepers. Be Well. Be Faithful. Be at Peace. Many Blessings. The Best Is Yet To Come!
Amen and amen. There is a gift here I enjoy it so very much, thank you all for your input. I dare say him not me, blessings to you Aeyrie.

Great post! Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 😄
Blessings to all my fellow Treepers, thank you for this heartwarming prayer. May God be part of this thankful day and filled with love for all.
It is truly a blessing to feel all of the good wishes that surpass the evils in our world. Thank you all and may God bless you on this day of remembrance of what our forefathers sacrificed for us to be enjoying this feast today with family and friends.
Thank you Menagerie for sharing. And a joy filled Thanksgiving for you and the family.
In Jesus name, Amen!
God’s blessings to all of my fellow treepers.
Thank you, Menagerie, for these beautiful prayers and for all the work you do for this blog. May God bless you and yours. Despite all the terrible things happening in our world, we have the Treepers, our families (I hope), and the dear Lord to afford us comfort and consolation. God bless us, each and every one.
Each pray their way.
I pray for necessity of each to reason their fate encompasses more than self, for independence is with each other. Seek each individual, to find more in group, remain true and sturdy.
Reflect on purpose to group which life depends, today thanks rules, but too does the next page turn.
Rest now – maybe, hold dear the dear, pray, and ready tomorrow today.
Shortness is true, to savor thus so far, battle too for all even on this fine day.
Dear Lord Almighty ,
We thank you for your promise to meet our needs and thank you for your Sinless son who died so that we may live.
in Jesus powerful name with Thanksgiving
Amen

graditude and blessings to all at CTH happy thanksgiving
CTH and all that visit here are one big Thanksgiving Treat!
God bless!
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful prayer of thanksgiving. I might share it with today’s gathering and the ones that follow in the coming days.
I am so blessed by the people of faith here. Some of life’s most trying times have happened in the past couple months which took me more deep into prayer than ever before. God was not silent, but He heard my cries. God has blessed me much more that I deserve, and I am thankful to Him each waking moment. May He richly bless you all today.
What a lovely post.
God closed the lion’s mouth for Daniel.
He parted the Red Sea for Moses.
He gave Sarah a baby.
He raised Lazarus from the dead.
Nothing you’ll face is out of His control.
We simply stand in the hallway until he opens the door. Faith is everything.
Right on, dear sister! ❤️
😘!!!!
So well said, Miss Betsy!
Where does this come from?
There is nothing too small for gratitude.
Wisdom of the Ages.. that never expires.. unto the End of Time..

Happy Thanksgiving to all! We were going to be hosting a few friends who couldn’t make it home for Thanksgiving… then the wife and I both got the Rona. She has cardiac issues already, so it hit her hard. Not even cooking today. Hope everyone enjoys the smells and tastes of Thanksgiving dinner today, blessings to all!
This is lovely, thank you so much.
Thank you, Menagerie. And, thank you to all at The Conservative Treehouse and fellow readers here for nine years of prayer and fellowship. Happy Thanksgiving.
Bless us, oh Lord, and these thy gifts…
So blessed to spend a quiet dinner with my husband, and to bring dessert to share at my sister’s with my nephews and their sons. Thank you, Jesus, for it all.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Phil 4:8-9
Thankful for His word and the prayer you shared.
Wonderful, Menagerie!
