I have the best neighbors and friends. I don’t know how well turkeys can fly but they do jump over the split rail fence on the property line.
They just don’t build split rail fences like they used to.

Have most of Arlo’s songs on my Car SD card…
Was listening to it just the other day. LOL
Sasly things did happen like this back in the 60s….
Worse part is I think this song very well decribes our current FBI & CIA…Ignoring the burnings, border crosings and murder, but arresting innocent people walking through the capitol…along with bagering & making up lies about the greatest President ever..
I am grateful that resistance does work. We are going to need boat loads of it in the coming year to change the course of the nation.

If it was holding a bottle of Vodka, we could be sure it was candid shot of Nancy Pelosi chilling in the kitchen waiting for her servants to finish the won-ton soup and Chinese-style whole chicken.
That episode idea originally came from an Atlanta radio personality named Neal Boortz in 1988. His version was a cat drop. People in hot air balloons trying to drop cats with parachutes on targets below. The results were just as bad as the turkeys though. People in Georgia were raising a major ruckus with the radio station! You can still find it using a search engine.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! BD
Here is the real story of how it was created. It is based on a Turkey drop, not from a helicopter, but back of a truck. Still didn’t work out to good for the Turkeys though.
One of the shows creators had worked at a Station in Atlanta. Johnny Fevers character was based on a DJ that worked in Atlanta late 60’s early 70″s
REad to the end. of a REAL airplane drop in the late 40’s or so with a picture. But it looks like they used non farmed turkeys. So some survived by gliding. When they hit the ground another story.
While staying in an AirB&B just north of Rapid I got to see all kinds of wild life including lots and Lots of turkeys.
Every morning I’d look out the kitchen widow to the owners huge front lawn filled with 50 to 100, maybe more turkeys.
After a few days I found a small trail behind the house so I started doing walks. First day out I hear this noise sounding like something walking on the gravel. Looked back and there were like 20 to 50 turkeys running round the shed towards me. Funny but when they saw me looking with just my head turned they pretty much screeched to a top, so I continued making sure I had an escape route. The turkeys became my walking partners every time I walked. What I did find strange is when I would just turn my head to look at them they would pretty much freeeze in their tracks. However if I turned around and faced them they would start to slowly back up. Not once did they attempt to harm me or even flee, just back up or freeze when I turned my head or body.
Here’s my walking buddies I had for about a month. FYI that is probably only about a 1/3 or less of the Turkeys that came to the front of the place every day

When I was a kid in the late 60’s-early 70’s in the small E. Tennessee town I grew up in, there was a large shopping center called the Plaza Center. It had a huge parking lot, surrounded by the stores, Belk, JC Penney etc. Each Thanksgiving the town had a huge turkey give away.
How did they do it?? The town leaders got on the top of the shopping center buildings….and released live turkeys from the tops of the stores about 20 foot up down into the parking lot!!
I remember watching as adults and kids chased down the turkeys. If you caught them, you kept them.
Good Times!!!
Imagine PETA zealots descending on that today. They don’t mind the birds stuffed into small cages on semis going to the slaughter plant though, a daily sight this time of year where I historically lived. If I ended up behind one of the trucks, I’d get a blizzard of feathers on the way to town.
The ‘old days’ were far from perfect but IMO there certainly was a more defined sense of community extant.
Out of curiosity this week I checked Google street view to see the old rescue mission in the nearby town I’d historically occasionally volunteer at on T-day to serve the homeless. Boom, gone, razed for the CA high speed train to nowhere. Progress.

I am grateful that Sundance was one of the first to have an actual roof after Ian’s devastation. That he was able to serve so many in need. I am thankful that he has been faithful to the Treehouse throughout.
I am thankful we won the house and there are brave MAGA men and women fighting to stop the horrible economic policies of the Biden administration. I am thankful that Fauci has retired. I pray that Kari Lake wins her righteous fight against voting fraud and becomes Arizona’s governor.
I am thankful that Ian and Nicole only blew fencing and soffits off my new home. I am thankful to have an extension of my son’s family willing to replace them for me instead of a scammer. I am thankful for a dutiful son. I am thankful for the lettuce, tomatoes, chili and cayenne peppers I have harvested this year. I am thankful for thriving worms. I am thankful for living long enough to attend my 50th reunion this year.

If you miss RUSH like I do.
Here’s RUSH explaining the TRUE story of Thanksgiving.
Enjoy!
In the past we had a run of about 10 years where our local club fed the less fortunate. Starting at 10:pm, we cooked a total of six turkeys, two at a time, to serve on Thanksgiving Day. This tip was passed on to me and I’ve done it annually ever since…
Prep your turkey as usual, insert the bird into a brown paper bag, set the bagged bird into the roasting pan, and add one cup of water into the bottom of the roasting pan. Fold the bag shut if the bird is small enough, if not, an open bag is ok. Baste as usual. The bird will be so juicy that you will literally squeeze juice out of the white meat. Keep a small fire extinguisher handy in case the bag catches fire. Kidding, the bag doesn’t catch fire, ours is in the oven right now! Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your families.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a Blessed day!
I’m thankful for a lot of things. My family of whom I’m Very Proud. Thankful that I Served my Country Honorably. Thankful that at my age I can still “hump” a ruck and weapon if need be. Thankful that I found the Conservative Tree House and real thankful that I avoided the Covid 19 death jab! I could go on and on, but it’s time to eat and I gotta say the prayer. Happy Thanksgiving Treepers. God bless and please Lord, watch over this Country!
Can’t run anymore but can still hold my position. Hope I won’t be forced by a government that hates me in my country that I served with honor !
Happy Thanksgiving
That show boosted the ratings of Nick Clooney (George Clooney’s dad) who was the news anchor on WKRC in Cincinnati. It made him number one. Years later, Nick ran for Congress in Kentucky. I worked on the campaign that defeated Nick.
I forgot the name of the film, but George played an army officer whose job in the later months of WWII was to round up as much as possible of the art that had been stolen by the Nazis. At the end of the film he visits a museum after the war to see some of that art on display with his father, who was played by Nick. Except I would bet that the vast majority of those who saw the film never knew that he was George’s father in real life.
I was living in Cinci when WKRP first aired. It was a fave of everyone I knew then! The turkey drop was one of the best episodes. Hilarious!!
Another good episode was when Les put up “walls” for his office.
