Perhaps a little focus on the foundation of the issue is in order.
Ever since the professional Republican apparatus decided to target, eliminate and destroy the grassroots movement known as the Tea Party, there was always going to come a time when the battle for the heart and soul of the GOP Club would take place.
CTH has been calling this battle ‘The Big Ugly‘ for around a decade.
The Big Ugly battle is essentially the fight between the grassroots working class base of MAGA voters and the professional political snobs in control of the Republican Club boardroom.
Some call it the ‘base’ -vs- the ‘establishment’. There are other names and catchphrases, but the essence of the dynamic is the same. A scruffy voting base, who, prior to Donald Trump, had no visible leader to represent their internal interests around the mahogany table.
Ordinary voters were in an abusive relationship with the people around the GOP boardroom. The Club needed our votes, and our money (less so after the Citizens United decision) but had no intention of ever actually delivering on the priorities of the voters. The Republican political establishment played Lucy with the football for years, and We The People always ended up flat on our backs, continually frustrated and feeling used.
In the same year the Tea Party rose up, the Supreme Court gave the GOP Club legal access to unlimited corporate money with the 2010 Citizens United decision. Mitch McConnell used the newly unrestrained campaign finance mechanism to further diminish the influence of the unwashed masses and eliminate the movement; it’s all well documented.
For the next several years we watched and participated in a political pantomime with highlights to include the 2012 installation of Club member Mitt Romney to represent our interests. Yeah, whatever…. It was a hot mess. Bumper Sticker:
The base voters watched the GOP Corporate Club do nothing to block Obamacare, even after we gave them the House in 2010 midterms. Obamacare was another Lucy and the football scenario, while the Senate wing of the Corporate Club created “comprehensive immigration reform,” including amnesty with Marco Rubio. Eventually, the bloom wore off the ruse, and we dispatched Virginia Club official Eric Cantor as a message to the Corporate Club to knock it off.
The Corporate Club didn’t and doesn’t care. Instead, while they sold out the working-class to the multinationals (TPA, TPP, Paris Climate, etc) they fought harder, gaslight more, and made even more promises they never intended to keep. Lucy had an unending supply of footballs.
Then in 2015 things changed. The voting base found a weapon for use against the Republican Club, the weapon’s name was Donald Trump. From the very first poll conducted after his 2015 announcement Trump was leading the charge, and that lead steamrolled 16 other Club approved candidates. The Club remained furious and vowed to remove the disrupter we sent into the boardroom.
Candidate Trump and President Donald Trump tried to deal with them fair and square on our behalf, but they rebuked him and us.
The Club schemed against him, connived in their little corporate groups to get rid of him, joined with the communists in common cause to cleanse the Club boardroom of the smell from oil, tar and fuel oil, and wanted that vulgarian representative of the dirty fingernail working class eliminated. They want only the “approved Republican” presence.
So, it was always going to get ugly.
It was always going to get Big Ugly.
The Club’s enlistment of former TPP approving congressman Ron DeSantis as a foil against the MAGA leader is transparent. DeSantis, funded by massive contributions from the Wall Street approval committee, replaces the prior approved candidate, Jeb. This Big Ugly battle was always going to end up with vulgarian Trump -vs- the next Jeb. The Club has selected DeSantis as Jeb.
Now, let’s be clear. The Republican political establishment, which includes the entirety of the multinationals in/around it, hereafter just called ‘The Club’, doesn’t give a damn about actually winning the 2024 presidential race. The Club didn’t give a damn when Romney was used either.
What the Club wants is full control of the Club agenda, that’s where the money is. The color of the flag atop the Capitol Hill dome is irrelevant to the activity that takes place beneath it. To understand, remind yourself of: The 2017 Obamacare repeal vote, 2015 TPA and fast track approval, 2015 Corker-Cardin amendment for Obama’s Iran Deal, 2014 Gang-of-Eight amnesty bill, or more recently the 2022 unlimited Ukraine funding.
Under the Capitol Hill dome both Club wings of the UniParty apparatus feed the multinational corporate vulture, regardless of the color of the flag atop the spire.
The Republican Club has no interest in Ron DeSantis becoming President of the United States. The Republican Club has interest in Donald Trump NOT becoming President of the United States. Ron DeSantis is the foil, nothing more. It’s not about Ron DeSantis, it’s about the Club, the mechanism behind Ron DeSantis – the same mechanism that put $200 million into his campaign as enticement for his usefulness.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis -vs- California Governor Gavin Newsom in 2024 is simply two clubs playing the illusion of choice game.
Ultimately, using history and modern politics as the perspective, if you really boil down the political sauce to its reduced state, what you find is… With DeSantis the DNC Club needs less ballot collection to defeat him. However, that’s irrelevant to the intent of his usefulness for the GOP club.
For the professional GOP Club, as openly expressed by the establishment politicians within it, the donors behind it and the media who promote it, the goal is to remove the populism within the club and bring back the multinational Club alignment with the corporations. That alignment was severely damaged by President Trump and the America First economic agenda.
The core of the Big Ugly battle is a Club motive based on money, power and boardroom affluence, in essence, GREED.
For ten plus years on these pages, I have written extensively about how there was always, always, going to be a point where the Big Ugly battle was going to have to be waged. We have waited and waited, looking at each moment, each conflict, each disparagement, each slight and snub, in hope the spark would ignite.
If the Big Ugly arrives in a contest between President Trump and Governor DeSantis, well, great; it needs to happen.
The bottom line is we need this Big Ugly fight. Not only does the future of the GOP reside in the outcome, the future of a constitutional republic free from corporatism is contingent upon it.
Yes, this fight is going to be big, and it’s going to be ugly… and in the aftermath, hopefully lots of free footballs.

I stood in the arena the day Donald Trump got the GOP nomination and just looked up at the still falling confetti long after everyone else was gone — except for me and the cleaning people. I almost missed the bus to our hotel.

Retired Magistrate here: Well, I am 75 and he is 76; if he is fading I will have some of what he is taking. He has more energy and stamina that individuals who are in their 30’s. The President has to deal with foreign leaders who are not “nice and mannerly”; they know how to fight and win. DeSantis has never been in a real fight; President Trump has been in fights since he was a young man. President Trump has “street creeds”; DeSantis not so much.
This part of the electorate, along with many others, are not exhausted and we are not moving on.
President Trump did rally after rally, in the hot sun and the pouring rain. I am 6 years younger than he is and I hardly had the energy to stay awake and sit in my nice comfy chair to WATCH the rallies.
I don’t know how he does it. But I know why.

My first point would be to disagree with the TIMELINE.
This battle between the Base and the leadership can be clearly seen, in the 1964 candidacy of Goldwater.
Notice he’s from AZ, no coincidence.
Notice ROMNEY (Mitts Dad) was one of his main opppnents.
And notice the GOPe, RNC COLLUDED with the DNC, I/C and MSM to derail his campaign.
Another example, is 20-30 years ago, when the base pushed for School VOUCHERS. WE won the public debate, as all the lame arguments against it fell flat.
And so, the GOP, behind closed doors, colluding with their Dem comrades, came up with a compromise: Charter schools.
WE never talked about Charter, we wanted VOUCHERS.
This is some of the battering abuse WE the base have experienced my whole life, and that Sundance refers to.
Its the “Culture wars” and while the Base has been itching for this fight, the GOPe has NOT wanted to truly fight on Abortion, Gun control, School vouchers etc.
No, they say those are losing issues: keep it about lower taxes, smaller government, cause otherwise Republicans won’t get the moderate democrat and indie voters they need to win.
Its gaslighting and the GOPe has been doing it for far too long.

This morning I read Liz Cheney’s comments re Trump . . . and calling her side “Team Normal”.
The whole Indie voters being softies was always a convenient lie for GOPers to hide behind. We have a state chock full of Indies that far outnumber R’s & D’s combined, who aren’t interested in the soft pedal garbage offered by Coporate Rupublicans. We see both parties for exactly what they are; UniParty thieves stealing everything that isn’t nailed down.
Please note: I am in no way disparaging the R’s long-suffering and abused base.
So I guess it’s now acceptable to ask the question, “Why are we still hanging around the GOP”?
What are we trying to accomplish by deluding ourselves that we have a seat at the table?
I trust President Trump with my life; I never thought that I’d say that about a politician, but at this stage of my life, it’s a nice feeling to have a purpose once again.

Well, he created a new Twitter in Truth Social, and it will take a while for it to reach it’s intended
purpose, as all new startups do.
Maybe Trump started TS, with the thought in mind to go with a third part eventually, and he would
need TS to get things done without being censored.
I asked the question the morning after, 2020 and was (politely) told that it was not a good idea to even suggest leaving the GOP. And event after event that goes bad, I ask why are we fighting so hard to stay in the GOP and again, it’s suggested that I not ask the question.
This whole thing reminds me of the battered spouse syndrome, a/k/a Lucy pulling the football at the last second.
Make no mistake, I’m not leaving the GOP, but I have no illusions regarding my usefulness to them. When we’re told to pull the ripcord, I’m more than happy giving up a committee seat to enable me to go help a party that values me and my kind.
Being involved in a third party, the first very big hurdle is ballot placement. Most automaton voters (which is not Treepers of course) pull A or B or write in A or B. They do not have the attention spans of going lower which is where third parties are relegated. The Democrat County Clerk placed our third party (local) the lowest they could. We also got almost zero “media” coverage. Third party is a huge uphill climb, though to be fair Trump is to put it mildly, “popular” so could be different.

Because PDJT is still hanging around the GOP.
Because after Perot, the wings of the Uniparty shored up their defence against a challenge from a “3rd party” (actually a patriot party to contest the one party with two faces of the Uniparty).
DJT WAS with Perots party, and saw how they infiltrated and demoralised and ultimately neutered it.
And how the Dems infiltrated to control the “green” and Reps did the same with the Libertarian.
And, of coarse we all saw the Uniparty exposed, when Obama protected the GOPe leadership from Tea Party.
Point being, there is no path to political power outside the two existing parties.
Hence, just as PDJT found ways around the roadblocks to his agenda, he and we have to find a way around this roadblock.
And our path is to fight the Big Ugly, and wrest control away from the GOPe, and make the GOP the America First, MAGA Gop.
And we attack both from the Top down )PDJT and from the bottom up (KL).
State party organisations is where the battle is.
And we will fight, inch by inch, to sieze and hold territory.
MAGA didn’t lose in Mich and Penn because of Mitch although he WAS working hard to undermine MAGA.
And, it wasn’t because of Dem cheating, although obviously there was some.
WE lost in those two States, because despite a valient effort, our forces failed to wrest control of the State Republican party, from the RINOS in control.
After all, McConnell was working hard to defeat MAGA in Az.
With Hobbs as SoS, and Fontes, Gates and Richer you know cheating is going on.
Its State Republican parties that detirmine whether MAGA wins or not.
And also will select delegates to the National nominating convention for 2024, so GET BUSY!

Years ago someone said the difference between Democrats and Republicans is that the Republicans wanted to get to the same place a little slower.
From the 30,000 foot view, this is apparent. From the million mile view, it is a brazen attack on the kingdom of God. A spiritual rather than political problem. Trump has also stated this in some of his rally speeches.
A hostile takeover of the Republican party can help. That starts with choosing the next Speaker.
There is no working together with tyrants. Either crush them, or let them walk over you.
I agree John! I often compare the two parties in that way.
When Dems have the wheel, it’s pedal to the metal… warp speed off to Progressville.
When Republicans have it, they let off the gas, talk about turning the car around, but never alter course.
Once you pay attention for a while, I don’t see how you could come to any other conclusion. Both parties want the same things, they just have to tap dance around the electorate.

Frankly, it’s more like the Big Nothing. It’s a slow, inexorable, slide into mediocrity.

The problem is that 98% of conservatives don’t get this or relate to it. They see DeSantis and Trump as very similar, on the same team. his insulting DeSantis strikes them as petty and thin-skinned. He is going to have to improve his ability to articulate what he’s doing in a manner that people can grasp and is not alienating, and start listening to the advice of some of his best supporters like those in Pennsylvania who warned him about Dr. Oz and those in Nevada who warned him about Lombardo. Praying for the USA and that somehow this mess turns to the good.
Conservatives were never that intelligent. They were only about 15-20% of the GOP notwithstanding the BS Limbaugh was slinging.

Unless, and until, the conservatives get down into the mud and engage in street fighting with the left, conservatives will never prevail. Prim and proper, always reserved, measured in their language, wanting to offend no one, and always do the ethically and morally correct will not overcome ballot harvesting, fraud mail in ballots, corrupted voting machines, and lying media talking heads. Don’t look to a corrupted DoJ or FBI to investigate election fraud. The left controls it all.
Trump’s support is a mile deep, but a few feet wide. His supporters will charge over the cliff with him, but independents, especially the young, intellectually corrupted, not so much. Trump can fill airports and football stadiums with his supporters, but he can’t fill the voting stations with enough supporters to overcome the tactics of the progressive left.
Talk is cheap! What is needed are individuals capable of taking effective action. Unfortunately, I don’t see any on the horizon.

We have a majority of biden repubs on our state elections committee who want to introduce rank choice voting, and take power away from the new SoS. They are afraid of him.
Our school boards are changing. Casper kicked many of the pro ‘kiddy porn in the school library’ trustees to the curb. My school board elections saw two great people elected to replace two amnesty trustees, but two amnesty clowns were re-elected. Give em hell Shelta!
WY is no different than the US congress except that our legislature is very lopsided to the (R)s, but dont let that fool anyone because dims run as (R)s here because they cant get elected as (D)s and the sheeple vote for them because they dont do their homework. Im at the point, and hopefully so are others, that I wont vote for the biden repubs in the primary or the general. I think the only way to get rid of the GOPe club members here, and everywhere else, is to let the dim win in the general. I wont vote for the dim, so Ill choose the 3rd party in the general. You are absolutely right CTH. When I heard Clay and Buck start promoting DeSantis and urging Trump not to announce on 11/15, I knew the fix was in. These two posers can’t compare to Rush and have absoulutly no insight into political matters. at least not as much as they think they do.

OK, so Trump is our George Washington and DeSantis is Benedict Arnold (as Arnold did do some very good things for America in the early part of the war, but ultimately betrays in the end).
This insight from Sundance is quite illuminating but what percentage of the American public in general and the MAGA movement specifically see this? I’d put it at less than 10%.
Given that all warfare is based on deception and let our plans be dark as midnight, then strike like a thunderbolt, what is the best strategy going forward? Bring sunlight to this situation? Share this article with everyone we know? Illuminate the ties RonD has with Big Tech and Wallstreet? Point out the praise the MSM is placing upon him and reminding everyone the MSM does not have our best interest at heart? Or, let both the wheat and the tares grow together, then a violent separation at harvest time?
I postulated in a previous post that it was unwise for Trump to attack DeSantis (and now Youngkin) as most people perceive it to be mean, petty, divisive, etc. What’s the game plan here and how do we unify on the message to promulgate among the masses?

For the first time EVER this election we had bipartisan election judges at every step of the action.
This is the area where “extra” ballots were found for the comedian turned senator, Al Franken.
No matter if President Trump stays with the Republican party or starts his own party, if we don’t have eyes on the ballots, we will lose.
To win, we need different weapons than in previous wars. There’s a runoff in Ga on 12/6. So, how do we get enough ballots to ensure that Walker wins?

The Republican Club has no interest in Ron DeSantis becoming President of the United States. The Republican Club has interest in Donald Trump NOT becoming President of the United States. Ron DeSantis is the foil, nothing more.
