Tonight, is one of those primary nights we have all been waiting for. The moment Wyoming voters have the opportunity to dispatch Representative Liz Cheney into the ash heap of republican politics. President Trump has endorsed Harriet Hageman to defeat and remove the horrible Cheney.
There’s also the ranked primary in Alaska, where we will watch to see if Senator Lisa Murkowski can be defeated, at least in position, by Trump-endorsed primary challenger Kelly Tshibaka. We also want to see if Sarah Palin can win the Alaska special election to fill the congressional seat previously held by Don Young.

the resounding defeat of Cheney is a feel-good moment to be sure. It makes MAGA folk feel like we still have, from time to time, a working lever to exert upon the world, that our Will can still effect electoral Change. But I feel it is by and large a false feeling of renewed empowerment.
Cheney provided such a tin-eared, exaggerated instance of Deep State cooptation that she simply HAD to go. The occasional Uniparty sacrificial lamb has to be offered up to help ‘balance the stageplay’. Those who control the Dominion Systems levers have to let the Gipper win one or two.
On a systemic level, the mechanics of the stolen electoral system hasn’t gone away. Nor will it, not on this side of our collapsed Republic. A new Republic has to happen first, and that’s a whole order-of-magnitude beyond a chastened Cheney brat. Although again, let’s savor that sour Cheney puss headed into the sunset and the resultant MSM consternation.

Kelly Tshibaka said the best way to manage the “ranking system” is to just go in and vote for the person you want like in a real election and don’t bother ranking people. Go in and vote for Kelly Tshibaka and Sara Palin and be done with it.
Nooooooo, Tshibaka is giving out the worst advice! Did she really say that?? After the primary results are published I’m going to work up some scenarios like I did for the US Rep special election.
There are two goals in the general for for Murkowski’s senate seat: 1) keep it Republican and 2) get rid of Murkowski.
In Alaska, if no one gets more than 50 percent of the vote, it goes to an instant run-off count. Think of it as a run-off election. But instead of casting separate ballot, you use rankings to participate.
Should a run-off be triggered then the candidate with the least amount of votes is eliminated. Now imagine a second election with the remaining candidates on the ballot and no write-ins allowed.
Here is what can happen with your vote.
If your first choice remains on the ballot, then your first-choice is who you vote for in this run-off.
If your first choice was eliminated and you had a second choice, then your second choice is who you vote for in this run-off.
If your first choice was eliminated, and you had no second choice, then you didn’t vote in the run-off. Or any future run-offs, should they occur.
Let’s say no one got a majority in the last run-off. There is a second run-off after the candidate with the least votes gets booted from the ballot.
If your first choice vote was used in the previous run-off and that candidate remains on the ballot, then that is who you vote for in this run-off.
If your first choice was used in the previous run-off, but got kicked off the ballot for this run-off, then your second choice vote is counted for this run-off. Provided you had a second-choice.
If your second choice count was used in the previous run-off and that candidate remained, then that is who you vote for in this run-off.
If your second-choice vote was counted in the previous run-off, but got eliminated for this run-off, then your third choice vote comes in to play.
If your candidate was eliminated and you had no next-choice, then you have no vote that counts in this run-off or any future ones.
This keeps going until someone gets a majority.
If your first choice vote was used in the previous run-off, but was eliminated for this run-off, then your second choice vote is used for this run-off. Unless you had no second choice; in that case, you did not vote in this run-off or in any future ones.

Is there going to be a test on this?

WHY would you bother to vote only in the first round, the one guaranteed to have SOMEONE eliminated. But you didn’t vote at all in the Second Round.

I am not a Native Alaskan; I’ve only been here since , but have made the biggest mistake of my Life by helping merkowski get re-elected several years ago. That is before I realized that she doesn’t think of anyone but herself. Write to her and she will ‘answer’ with a form letter begging for money, see her at a gathering, and even if she is standing in front of you, she refuses to acknowledge y ou are there, let alone speak a civil word to you. Besides, all she has done lately is bad mouth Trump, of vote against what he was trying to do. The latest thing is the ‘RANKED VOTING’ bull sheet By allowing the top 4 to be in on the election pages, she just reinforced that she will be on the November ballot. 2/.Vote for Democrats in Alaska looks horrendous. While it is the first time we’ve seen the new primary system, they’ve not performed this badly in a while.
Edgar Blatchford is < 1% and Patricia Chesbro is just over 6%. Terrible performance for DEMs.
For the Alaska At-Large District, as expected Mary Peltola (D) is ahead at 34.5%, but not at all by the margin most expected, with Sarah Palin (R) right behind 2.4 at 32.1%. Nicholas Begich (R) in third with 27.1%.
Again, less than expected DEM performance.
3/. Clearly more Election Day vote than expected in Alaska too. 268 votes separate Murkowski from Tshibaka.

But we have to get the state legislatures and Sheriffs(?) to block the Democrat’s mail-in voting steal that’s coming in November. The GOPe quisling SOS and Governors in AZ and elsewhere are gonna try to let it happen, so they can claim that the maga candidates lost because they’re ‘too extreme’. The SCOTUS would uphold state laws on mail-in voting, methinks.
The gateway pundit has a story about the entirely new US Postal division that’s dedicated JUST to promulgating mail voting fraud, and we saw that Maricopa County continued ‘counting’ for a couple days after voting day, almost certainly to set up the steal for the General election. We HAVE to stop this NOW.
Maybe Sheriff’s could station police at voting drop boxes? We can’t just video the cheating and then try to fight it afterward or else the same thing will happen as ’20.

I’m happy to see a 3rd Republican, I hope the end result is just like this. It will help a lot to keep that Senate seat Republican in November. I think we can assume the Tshibaka and Kelley voters are both anti-Murkowski, hopefully they both rank Tshibaka #1 in the general.
I’m doing some ranked-choice scenarios and unfortunately, right now, looking at the partial results of the primary, I think Murkowski is going to win back her Senate seat.
The problem is the Chesbro voters. I’m quite certain they’re going to rank Murkowski #2, so when Chesbro is weeded out those votes will go to Murkowski and push Murkowski over 50.
It is possible though that Tshibaka can win but she really needs all of the Kelley voters to rank Tshibaka #2, so that when Kelley is weeded out Tshibaka gets those votes. It might push Tshibaka over 50.
Tshibaka and Kelley should get together and inform their voters. Rank Tshibaka and Kelley #1 and #2 in their preferred order, do not leave #2 empty and do not rank Murkowski or Chesbro #2. Very important.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. In either case the Senate seat remains R, which is a good thing because we need all of the Senate seats we can get to achieve a GOP majority.
Here’s a scenario if you want to see it:
45 vote Murkowski, Kelley, Chesbro, Tshibaka
43 vote Tshibaka, Kelley, Chesbro, Murkowski
8 vote Chesbro, Murkowski, Kelley, Tshibaka

I agree. There are probably a lot of people who don’t know how awful she is. The vast majority of media never report it, they portray Murkowski favorably.
Tshibaka is going to have to appeal to those voters with concrete info about how Murkowski has failed Alaska.
Don’t worry about the Alaska special election voting right now. They have to wait until Aug 31 (smh) to start the ranked-choice weeding.
IF Palin and Begich voters voted the way I said they should, ranking Palin and Begich #1 and #2 in their preferred order, if the sum is > 50 then one of them will win and the seat stays R. It’s most likely that Palin will be the winner.
Right now with an estimated 69% reporting, the #1 rankings are:
Peltola 37.8%
Palin 32.1%
Begich 28.6%
I’m concerned that the Begich voters are emotional and rank Palin #3 instead of #2. If they do that we can easily lose that House seat to Peltola the Dem.
I voted Palin #1 and Begich #2. I’m with you in hoping the Begich voters put Palin as #2. I think it’s either that or they left #2 blank. I can’t see any conservative putting a Dem on their ballot.
I agree. Palin will be ranked #2 on the majority of Begich #1 voters. My prediction is she will beat Peltola by 10K votes. Take a look at the difference between the maps for this house seat… when all the candidates were in and then just the 3. Begich is down to just the Juneau area. If Begich voters left #2 blank then we’re going to lose that seat. Fortunately it’s just the remainder of the current term, til Jan 2023. If that’s what happens the voters need to be educated in how to vote to not only favor their preferred candidate but keep House and Senate seats GOP.

I don’t really think that all Begich voters would rank Peltola #2, this is really a worst-case scenario. But I did not find any advice from either Begich or Palin instructing their voters do rank them #1 and #2 in either order. Without guidance I worry that voters are going to screw up. How many do you think are going to spend time working out scenarios?
I wonder if the Trump raid knocked off a few Kelly Tshibaka votes. Too much fake news out there. Trump needs to pump up Kelly Tshibaka more before the general election.
Where have you been? The Trump raid added voters. Tshibaka is up against the establishment Queen of Mean….but Kelly can still win. She must flood the TV and radio air waves and carpet bomb Murkowski with her record. Kelly will need gobs of $ to do it.

I know but we are stuck with it in Alaska so we have to learn to game it as well as anyone else.
Just did some “Beer Math” on the Alaskan primary. If you take all the Republican votes for the Governor (which seems to have been a more even distribution of voters) and add them you get 96,988. If you then accept this as the actual Republican voter population for this primary, and add up all the “Republican” voters in the Senator primary, you get 130,794 voters. This leaves a theoretical 33, 806 Republican voter overage. Clearly something is off. especially when you take into account the Democrat senate candidates vote numbers being so low. If you subtract out the overage from Murkowski, I have feeling not a lot of Dems were voting for Trumps pick, you get 34,994 actual Republican voters. If you then add the adjusted Murkowski numbers with the unchanged numbers of Trumps pick, you get the 96,988 from the adding of the Republican votes in the Governor race. It will be interesting to see if the Dem’s stay loyal to Murkowski or not. They were probably the reason she was not rank choiced out. (In this rough analysis, I did not include the much smaller vote counts of other Republicans in the Senate race, where I did so in the Governor race arithmetic).
