The fabric is made in China with fake smocking by machine using thin elastic. You can buy the fabric by the yard at Jo-Ann for less than $6.00. Real smocking is done by hand and usually made as children’s dresses.

An unfortunate choice, I must say. When a woman is in her 70’s, there are clothing styles that are genuinely graceful and tasteful. That particular kitchen curtain revival is unflattering because it reveals the aging legs, aging shoulders and neck, and stomach bulge. But then, some people don’t really have a sense of style or a sense of what they look like to others.
