What worries me is that this year DeSantis started receiving a LOT of money from out of state big donors. That makes me feel that the establishment is working to position him. With his lead for the governorship campaign, there wouldn’t be a lot of need of out of state donors putting in big money. There’s something else working in the background.

I do see that DeSantis and his administration have worked to preserve some wildlands and habitats. There is nothing wrong with that. Have you seen the rate of development in Florida at the moment? I live in CA. I contributed to four tea party, first-time congressional candidates in 2012. DeSantis was one of them. I did it because I am in a deep blue northern calif district and I have no one of my own locally. It was something I could do. DeSantis has been outstanding every step of the way from then till now.
After 2012, my daughter moved to Florida. I see first hand the good governance job going on there every time I visit.
There is no need to throw shade on DeSantis. IMHO he has gone to great lengths not to upstge or downstage Trump. There is room enough for both.
I wonder a bit, if the desire to cast shade on DeSantis is driven more by fear of competition for Trump rather than a genuine policy or governance failure on De Santis’ part.

I checked my email and I suddenly started receiving them as of last Tuesday. Given everything that sundance has said, I certainly question this timing. They come from the address [email protected] and say they come from a mailing list. I did not sign up for any such list.
They appeared at the same time in several gmail accounts.
I checked back and the only other begging email I had received from him was from Governor Ron DeSantis and sent on March 21, 2021. That one also appeared in multiple accounts. It was sent from [email protected]
Makes me wonder what was happening on that date…

After numerous positive articles on here from Sundance on DeSantis governorship it’s been an about face just recently.
It’s disappointing to say the least but I have accepted it too and so has the previous poster.

It now appears that Kari was the feature speaker as Desantis is just plain Boring. His speaking ability compared to Trump is dismal. Mono tone, can not create any empathy and appears distant from his audience.
It is his pitch/tone cadence. I am used to sound bites, and listening to him do a whole long speech wasn’t fun.
He seemed a bit rushed, didn’t pause effectively, didn’t pull in or cue off the audience, a mite shrill.
I kept wondering if he ever listened to PDJT.
I didnt find him boring. I thought on a purely intellectual level, he was fantastic. it was a lecture from a college professor giving outstanding examples of how to run a state properly and stand up to the federal government mandates and stand up to media and stand up to corporations like disney.. interesting that he sees the problem with the raid was just an intellectual problem of federal government overreach, which he says should be addressed by Congress. leaving out any feeling of outrage, any emotion about the personal issue of the injustice to Trump! makes me wonder if he is an egghead without ability to connect to people! too much harvard and yale, and not enough human sensibility. when he goes to pennsylvania and the other states he needs to prep himself with ways to compare what he has done with what is relevant to the audience in these other places . he needs to graduate from intelligent operations technocrat to leader. so, I think he needs to be put into a trump administration in a role where he has to learn to negotiate and connect, to groom him for running for president in 2028.

It’s strange no one asked this question: in situations like this, is the State Police informed ahead of the action taking place? I assume yes, in order to avoid any problems (like someone there calling 911, saying the club is attacked by armed people).

I think Desantis came across as not giving a flip about helping kari or blake , may not even know or care who is mark finchem. and desantis certainly shows no personal loyalty to Trump or anyone else , although he intellectually agrees with most of Trump’s ideas, and has impressively implemented policies which Trump agrees with. deSantis seems to be coldly opportunistic. He was showing off his florida accomplishments because he thought that was what he needed to do to sound like a national candidate running for president. It appeared that desantis thought his audience was not the arizonans in front of him.Desantis thought the listening audience he needed to impress was Karl Rove and some big RINO GOP donors who can give him money

It just does not sit right to use President Trump’s MAGA candidates to make his potential opponent in 2024 look good. I think you might call that “drafting” on the energy of President Trump.
These rallies are part and parcel of an election year. They are done for every candidate by many organizations with various speakers. Always has been the case. Trump doesn’t have the time or the corner market on holding a rally you know. It’s not something he invented.
Trump made rallies a thing, where I live they are mostly called events, or used to be. The really weird part is that DeSantis is who they pulled out of the hat to do the rally when the raid on MAL just happened. I didn’t see much fight in Ron over that topic.

Charlie Kirk is a big Trump supporter. I’ve listened to his podcast this week and he has been brilliant in his defense of the raid and Trump. I’m sure Trump will have to watch his words the next few weeks. But I’m really disappointed in DeSantis. He missed a golden opportunity to say a few kind and supportive words about Trump. He avoided it like the plaque..which tells me he is in campaign mode..you dont mention your opponents name.
All this talk of DeSantis challenging Trump is just borrowing trouble.

I was there tonight and Kirk talked Trump and the raid and even said he thinks Trump is running in 2024 to loud cheers. People here are flipping on a dime against DeSantis because Sundance told them to. It’s weird.

Well Florida is his area of expertise. And there are many states that wish they had a governor that did half of what DeSantis has done. He really doesn’t have much experience with Arizona. He’s most likely there to explain what he has done and hi-light what Arizona could do as well if done with the correct leadership.

He did a horrible job being he was supposed to be there to promote other candidates in their election just two months away. Didn’t really hear him say a thing about going out and voting, working the polls, stopping fraud, maybe I missed that part. At points I did tune him out. I don’t know who wrote the speech, but it wasn’t very good, perhaps it was the delivery?
And the Arlington story I have heard other candidates say the same thing trying to be poignant. He could have brought up Veterans showing the new Florida Don’t Tread on Me plates that will be giving money to Vet Charity. The same Gadsden flag the FBI has declared as a terrorist symbol.
should have done more homework on Arizona in preparation for his speech to Arizona audience. the speech looked like he was campaigning for himself, not for kari or blake. I was impressed by his intelligence and his accomplishments but unimpressed by his neglect of his audience and their concerns

I am getting a bit disturbed by the insistence of some here to go to extremes. DeSantis — who squeaked into office here — has, WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE LEGISLATURE — done a very very good job as governor. That includes many election systems reforms, albeit not ditching electronic voting.
But “perfect is the enemy of the good”. Don’t forget that even Trump, even Reagan learned and changed. (Both were even once Democrats.) Yeah, he voted for TPP. Maybe it was stupid. Maybe DeSantis is better as an executive than as just one member of a horse trading dealmaking legislative body. OR MAYBE HE HAS SOME FLAWS. Or is even a big fake (who still has, in his faking way, done a very good job as governor).
When I need a wrench, I don’t complain about how my hammer is no good and just throw it away. I try to select the right tool at the right time. I pray that Donald Trump maintains the health, energy and willingness to continue to lead. But Donald Trump is an extraordinarily high bar. And there is very very little that DeSantis actually can do regarding the corrupt FBI right now. You want him to talk? That will accomplish… what? Talk is cheap.
We don’t have to be hating on DeSantis. There are real and dangerous enemies to hate on.

They announced the rally on Aug 08, the same day Mar-a-Lago was raided.

I believe the time frame is from Aug 9 , day after the raid, to today? The raid presumably was to take PDJT out of the running, and voila, insert DeSantis.

I watched the DeSantis speech. I liked what he had to say.
I’m not sure how SD knows he’s being groomed for GOPe.
I guess we’ll wait and see if something changes, but as to the speech DeSantis made, I think he covered all the bases and showed what governors can do to help their people. He also mentioned the Mara Lago raid and compared it to the kid glove treatment Hillary received. I will be interested to see the comments of Treepers who saw the speech.
