I think the “Nationwide drop in milk consumption” is BS. I judge this by the fact that I never see anyone buying the oatmilk or almond based coffee creamers. When I felt the need to pull my gun closer to me when driving on a small country highway in a small rural town in Oregon, I truly realized this is NOT America anymore. Some guy made right turn with me less than a car length from where he turned from! Then He proceeds to go 25 to 30 on a 55 mph highway causing me to hit my brakes hard.. Decided to pass him. Glace quickly over to see the driver giving me the middle finger.
Within a year of that incidence there were two homicides in a town where they had been none for over 15 years at least, One was a drive by two blocks from my house.

The modern policy of sanctions is to some extent reminiscent of the management practices of the Golden Horde. One of its elements was the system of directives – orders, instructions, and permission issued by the Khan to his subjects and vassals. We remember well from the history books the principles for reigning, i.e. permission from the Khan to Russian princes to own this or that land. Orders were also issued to the clergy, exempting them from taxes or granting them other privileges.
These were the tools of imperial policy, formalizing the Khan’s decisions in relation to the rulers or institutions dependent on him. It had a cross-border character, i.e. it was an instrument of governing a subordinate but alien territory. On the one hand, it was the possession of the Khan. […]
However, the author then immediately seeks to clarify – obviously, knowledgeably – that Western Nations and “The Golden Horde” otherwise had very different structure, history, and objectives. I think that his key analogy is very obvious – however, he immediately then limits it so that he won’t be misunderstood. I think that this is clearly intended as an analogy, not a cultural comparison. My interpretation here is that he’s pointing out similarities between how this then-omnipotent power nation regarded and treated its “vassals,” and how “The West” behaves today. These similarities are quite clear, as far as they go.
He then proceeds to a discussion of the role played by the Western powers both in the defeats of World War II and the reconstructions which followed. (In contrast to that of the USSR at the same time.) At which time he then focuses for many paragraphs on the core subject – sanctions. Which he then explores from many angles and with an obvious command of international historical perspectives.
