The South Carolina republican club keeps an open primary election so they can coordinate with Democrats on key races. The larger goal is to retain power. As planned, democrats in/around Charleston voted to support Club candidate Nancy Mace as part of the power control. However, at least Tom Rice was eliminated in district 07.

Open primaries exist to water down conservative voters and candidates.. It is in the real sense conservative voter suppression
it can be used to encourage reform democrats who will attempt to retake and remake their party after the shambles that ’22 and ’24 probably make of it. it can be a two edged sword.

Meijer (M-3) is trailing badly in early polling. He’s basically ghosted his district since being elected. His only hope is big Democrat crossover in the open primary as well as the same funny numbers he got in comparison to Trump in 2020.
