Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Good very early morning all. Something to smile at to start your day.
It’s Science!
Increased testosterone levels can cause Democrats to become more conservative in their political affiliation, a recent experiment analyzing voters in U.S. elections found………..When weakly affiliated Democrats received additional testosterone, the strength of their party fell by 12 percent and they reported 45 percent warmer feelings towards Republican candidates for president……
This according to a study published on November 14th, 2021 by Professor Paul Zak, the Director of the Center for Neuroeconomics Studies at Claremont Graduate University.
STUDY: Testosterone Treatment Turns Democrat Voters More Conservative. (thenationalpulse.com)
No wonder the left wants to stop us from eating red meat, driving muscle cars and trucks, having firearms, or doing or having anything else that could be considered “manly”!
Who knew? Manly men are Republicans!
It appears that Arnold Schwarzeneggar knew years ago… when he was Governor of California, he addressed the state legislature who was pushing back on legislation he wanted passed. He ran as a Republican, but the legislature was heavily Democrat. He called them a “bunch of girly men”
Oct. 5 1878, American preacher:
Good Morning Rah! I love this post!!!! Who knew, you would outdo yourself!!!! 💋
Good morning Cat! What a great post from rah to start the day. I think it’s a completely legit science. ❤️
Goodaye grandpa 😘
Nope! Appears to be legit. If it wasn’t I don’t think the could use a real university name.
Create Your Future – Claremont Graduate University (cgu.edu)
Well then, perhaps we ought to mandate forced injections of the stuff into registered male Dems as a requirement for voting. Might help pull us out of the sorry mess we’re all in.
Good morning Bet. The research needs to be expanded and study if the testosterone treated girly men were more likely to prefer rinos or MAGA republicans.
Morning, G💓 Now you’re getting specific😁. Not a bad suggestion. I say let’s do it!!
I’d also recommend it for sizable percentage of the DC Republicans. It seems the only Republicans with testosterone are the females– Marjorie Taylor Greene being the most prominent example.
Couldn’t agree more, Maximus. Especially since most voted for the $40 billion to the Ukraine now. I’m with you absolutely.
Greene is a standout amongst the neutered Rs.
Yep! I saw on of my Senators voted against the $40 billion and the other voted for it. Guess which one gets my vote!
Happy Cursday Treepers! Pet your puppies (cats too) for me . . . You’re a good dog . . . All dogs go to Heaven!!!!! Remembering Sweetie, and Scamp, and Buster, and . . . Susie . . . and, of course, Prince.
One more . . .
The title says dog’s journey, but the initial picture shows two humans. I have to ask, which one is the dog?
(just a little humor)
Jim, that’s a loaded question. I exercise my right to remain silent. 😂
This Bud’s for you (scroll past commercial)….
A nice conclusion would be the girl and the guy getting married….with horses and dogs in the scenes.
My turn, one more:

Good morning, Garrison💓
Dogs: “Oh good!! You’re home!!”
Cats: “You’re late. Make me dinner.”
I miss all mine that have enriched my life. Every single one. Cat or dog, it matters not. They are all indelibly in my heart.
Good morning, Betsy! 🙂
😘!!
Last night we had Spaghetti and meatballs and a toss salad with hard boiled egg on it. Geisha the dog got part of a hard boiled egg and half a meatball. Sherry boiled some extra eggs to put on her food. Think I’ll go steal one. She never lacks for pets, hugs, and kisses. As I write this she is still curled up on the bed beside Sherry. She didn’t even get up and come out after I left the fridge door open to long and the dinger went off.
Someone, somewhere a very long time ago told me when they were explaining godliness that God’s love for us, is as ours is for our simple souls. Job 12:7 – “But now ask the beasts, and let them teach you; And the birds of the heavens, and let them tell you.”
It is a way to express too, joy in God’s creation.
🥰 💗
Yum! 🙂
Good morning home! ☀️
My, how we all will grow in God’s garden!! 🥰
Thank you ❤️
Hi, ‘Cat! 🙂
😊
Daybreak
A wind came up out of the sea,
And said, “O mists, make room for me.”
It hailed the ships, and cried, “Sail on,
Ye mariners, the night is gone.”
And hurried landward far away.
Crying, “Awake! It is the day.”
It said unto the forest, “Shout!
Hang all your leafy banners out!”
It touched the wood-bird’s folded wing.
And said, “O bird, awake and sing.”
And o’er the farms,”O chanticleer,
Your clarion blow; the day is near.”
It whispered to the fields of corn,
“Bow down, and hail the coming morn.”
It shouted through the belfry-tower,
“Awake, O bell! proclaim the hour.”
It crossed the churchyard with a sigh,
And said, “Not yet! In quiet lie.”
~~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow~~
An most wonderful poet for a most beautiful poem, which touches my soul as no other, to accompany your hopeful sermon, H. Blessings.
In celebration our winds are gusting to 50+ today. Beware driving the Snake River Valley. The gusts are bad for high profile vehicles – but blowing dirt / dust makes for instant zero visibility
You guessed it – i’m not driving
Good morning, ms.idaho💓
I saw yesterday an article that says Sahara sands are making their way across the Atlantic into the Gulf of Mexico, due to hit the edges of Louisiana and bordering states, including mine, Texas, quite soon. Yuck. We’ll no doubt be getting some of it up here in the more.motherly part of the state sooner or later.
As for winds? It seems an odd year for those. Here we’ve been experiencing high ones almost unremittingly day after day for a couple of months. My sympathies and empathies as well.
Not driving in it is a good thing. God be with those who are.
And finally, I’ve taken to viewing winds as the breath of God, rightly or wrongly. Sometimes gentle, sometimes fierce. And that is how my mind is working these days.
Wishing for you and Doc a peaceful day with no untoward events and all the blessings He can send to you. B
Is the part of Texas I live in “more motherly”??? Autocorrect thinks it is…NORTHERLY!! It really is quite impudent .
I new what you meant Bet but it gave me a chuckle. 😁
Good….you know me by now, my bless-ed friend.😘
my gram said spring wind was a way to wake up the trees – get their sap moving after Winter.
Not too far from here is a Barn on a farm. Visible from the highway the Barn has a painting. A manual or mule pulled plow – being pulled by a parachute. Not sure of the purview – but that may actually be possible around here….
Blessings back at’cha. Yup – each day is precious
How lovely. I’ve seen quite a few murals on the sides of buildings, some in a dilapidated state. All I’ve seen are simply incredible. From cats to storks even. How I admire anyone with a talent like that.
What a poetic way with words your gram had. 💓 when I replied to you earlier, there were no winds here. Let’s just say our trees are now getting a very rude awakening indeed.😉
Made me remember…I’ve been fortunate to have a family who adapt their words, sometime times inadvertently (like children), sometimes on purpose just for fun.
My teen granddaughter when she was much younger magic-ed up the word “comfty” for comfy. It made sense to her from the word “comfortable”, and really to me as well. So now I use it.
But for ” mural” we say jokingly say “muriel” because once we heard someone call it that mistakenly. Silly, I know.We know it’s incorrect, but it adds a bit of spice and fun to our conversations.
One of the things you have to understand about wind.
It is caused by the trees waving their arms.
Doubt me?
Have you ever noticed that if the trees don’t wave their arms there is no wind?
Just observe…. ha ha ha ha
I’ve been doing that a lot lately. There is a lot of joy in doing so.🤗
I know y’all talking about wind but the murals reminded me of a metal building that I drove by every morning before I retired. It’s on a narrow country road and for the last year has had a large sign painted on it together with a flag next to the metal barn. Both said FJB completely spelled not just the abbreviation. It still makes me smile.
🙂
Bring it on!!!! Brilliant!
Good afternoon ms idaho!
it is good.
we took ourselves out to Appleby’s. They have a great French Onion Soup that I have been craving for 3 days.
I nearly licked the bowl clean – then told our waitress I didn’t like it, but was too full to order another to see if it might be better. Had her chuckling….
The only better one I remember (from years ago) was in Colorado Springs. They served it (and other great soups) in a bread bowl.
A rare treat indeed
Our Panera used to have superb French Onion soup, with croutons and loads of cheese. with a crusty baguette.
Then one day I was fancying some and sent with my daughter and grands. They’d completely rejigged the recipe. It tasted flat, no flavour at all.
I questioned their staff. Turns out Panera decided to go “healthier” and removed ever grain of salt from it. Took most of the croutons out as well. But the final desecration was no cheese. Haven’t been back since. How DARE they??
Tonight for the first time in forever, we are going for breakfast for dinner at one of our more homey IHOPs. One meal free for seniors. We have to travel a little bit to get to the one we like. There is one near us we could walk to but the first and last time we were there, the service was slow and nonexistent, and the interior of it was open air and modern. And I know it sounds slly, but we didn’t feel comfortable..So off we go to one of the older ones, which we will enjoy. Good service, not crowded and a perfect fried egg. Small pleasures, which are everything.
Speaking of senior perks several years ago my bride and I drove to Big Bend. At the entrance we found out that we qualified for a senior pass for all the national Parks – 10 bucks! We got it and in October 2020 used it at Zion National Park. They were selling there similar lifetime senior passes for close to a 100 bucks, I think. So we made a great investment. Just hard to remember that we are seniors now, ha, ha.
BTW, one of the purposes of the Big Bend trip was to try and max out the car I had back then on the quiet back roads. It was supposed to cut off at 150 mph. I got it up to 145 but the roard was bumpy so I decided not to push the last 5 miles.
I know, I know, but it was all that testosterone…😉
You cheeky chappy you!!!
Your inner testosterone fuelled drag racer popping out, eh? I suppose Mrs G was holding on to something for grim death😂!! If we motored more, we’d invest in a senior pass. Have to take advantages offered where we can.
But since we are at bankrupting gas prices now and getting worse, ain’t happenin’.
Last long trip we made was to drive to our sons wedding in Florida. We had a ball doing it. And as my husband drove tours of Americans in Britain for decades and really has long distance driving in his blood, he especially enjoyed it. Left here, stopped in Pensacola for the night, then last leg.
However on the way back we drove straight through, no stops. Shattered after, but it was still a blast.
(lovely breakfast for dinner, sweet and attentive waiter, really fast from order to serving, and the eggs were cooked perfectly…not as easy to do as one might expect😉)
Reminds me of one of the many step-dad stories that we have. 12-15 years ago we had some guests for lunch. Stepdad liked his meal so much that he picked up his plate and literally licked it clean. We are still laughing about that one.
Hahaha!!! Now that’s a story, and I’m sure many like it, that will keep his memory alive. Gorgeous💖
🥰
I thought you might appreciate it, Cat. Had you in mind.
Goodaye lbt!! I hope I remembered it correctly) ❤️
Oh you did… Little Big Thunder… small in stature but big in opinions, and how…ask my grown children😉.

MORNING
Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity. Psa. 51:2
I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. Jer. 33:8
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from ail your idols, will I cleanse you. Ezek. 36:25
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John 3:5
If the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Heb. 9:13, 14
He saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. Psa. 106:8
Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake. Psa. 115:1

Amen.
For interest, here is a Petrol price comparison Australia versus USA. Today I paid A$2.18 litre for unleaded petrol (95%). A US gallon is 3.785 litres = AU$8.25 per US gallon = US$5.76 per US gallon
Not certain if every country imposes various taxes on fuel – ranging from green tax, to road tax, to 3rd party insurance – their imagination is boundless. So a good chunk of what we pay at the pump goes directly to the people who create the crisis and price increase in the first place.
I expect Australia does. I KNOW the UK does. Hidden taxes. Keeps the outrage at bay…sort of.
These people hate us. We need to be able to afford to go to work.
Jesus said to forgive…not sure if He put a time limit on how to achieve that…and to pray for our enemies. And wow they do need prayers.
I’m beginning to think there are not enough in this entire world to redeem them.
the resident could eliminate taxes on gas to help Americans instantly rather than give to illegals or ukraine
It’s not our money, Congress is giving Ukraine. It has been borrowed from China.
Good morning Dora 🙋♀️
You’re sure styling it up!!! 👍 ❤️
Good morning, Cat and Dora!!💓
May 19 Oswald Chambers
Out of the Wreck I Rise
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? —Romans 8:35
God does not keep His child immune from trouble; He promises, “I will be with him in trouble…” (Psalm 91:15). It doesn’t matter how real or intense the adversities may be; nothing can ever separate him from his relationship to God. “In all these things we are more than conquerors…” (Romans 8:37). Paul was not referring here to imaginary things, but to things that are dangerously real. And he said we are “super-victors” in the midst of them, not because of our own ingenuity, nor because of our courage, but because none of them affects our essential relationship with God in Jesus Christ. I feel sorry for the Christian who doesn’t have something in the circumstances of his life that he wishes were not there.
“Shall tribulation…?” Tribulation is never a grand, highly welcomed event; but whatever it may be— whether exhausting, irritating, or simply causing some weakness— it is not able to “separate us from the love of Christ.” Never allow tribulations or the “cares of this world” to separate you from remembering that God loves you (Matthew 13:22).
“Shall…distress…?” Can God’s love continue to hold fast, even when everyone and everything around us seems to be saying that His love is a lie, and that there is no such thing as justice?
“Shall…famine…?” Can we not only believe in the love of God but also be “more than conquerors,” even while we are being starved?
Either Jesus Christ is a deceiver, having deceived even Paul, or else some extraordinary thing happens to someone who holds on to the love of God when the odds are totally against him. Logic is silenced in the face of each of these things which come against him. Only one thing can account for it— the love of God in Christ Jesus. “Out of the wreck I rise” every time.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
We are only what we are in the dark; all the rest is reputation. What God looks at is what we are in the dark—the imaginations of our minds; the thoughts of our heart; the habits of our bodies; these are the things that mark us in God’s sight.
Good morning FC. Cheers to another day of the good Lord’s blessings of love and laughter.
Goodaye to you Levi!!! 😘
Cat, the last of this Chambers sermon is what I have always told our grands. Every house has mirrors, and we all turn out the lights before sleeping. Alone with our thoughts and God. A very simple but powerful message.
Good morning, Levi💓 Blessings to you, sir.
A belated good morning to you Betsy. Many blessings to you and yours. To health and happiness, love and laughter! Cheers!
All four! Thank you😊
Good afternoon Levi!
Good afternoon to you Gramps. Many blessings to you and yours. To health and happiness, love and laughter! Cheers!
Cheers mate!
Haven’t seen you for some time. Hope all is well.
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.
“Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.”
St. Michael is the patron Saint of Paratroopers among many others. I wore him as my good luck charm back in the day.
I just ordered this to place above my mantle. Made an exception and ordered from Etsy. Just wanted to share, hope you all don’t mind.

That is just beautiful!! The prayer as well as the art. Wonderful, Cat.
My husband is a phenomenal wood worker. He has made some crosses of simple but amazing designs. We have given one to each of ours, and to others who have blessed our lives… one hangs in our house. But for our anniversary just past, he fashioned a simpler one to stand, and which now is on our mantle. I showed him this picture. He was mesmerized by the incredible intricacy of it, as am I. I suspect, Cat, this will give you much peace when you look at it and contemplate the powerful prayer which it represents.
Beautiful, Cat!
The meaning of Michael in Hebrew is Who is like God? It is short for the question Who is like Yahweh our God?
https://www.ancient-hebrew.org/names/Michael.htm
I ought to know the meaning. 😍
Leenie, if you are reading it’s the answer to a question that you asked me while back.
Blessings to you, Leenie. You are missed🤗
🥰
Goodaye Leenie ❤️
That’s what my dad said except he had a she child so he improvised with her 😉
She’s awesome. M would have liked her ❤️
I know he would have. 😍
Why would I, or anyone else mind? I like it! Is it real wood or a casting?
Supposedly, real wood. I’ll believe it when I hold it. 😉
Didn’t want to appear to hijack duchess’s thread. She’s so kind with these daily postings ❤️
Amen.

German Conservationists Score Win In Battle To Protect 1000-Year Old “Grimm’s Fairytale Forest” From Green Insanity
German Conservationists Score Win In Battle To Protect 1000-Year Old “Grimm’s Fairytale Forest” From Green Insanity – Watts Up With That?
So now the Conservationists and Environmentalists are at war with the Climate Alarmists.
Back in the 80’s the US Army would be charged for destroying a tree on the largest US maneuver areas and ranges in Germany at Graphenwoher and Hohenfelds. The Germans would really get upset about it.
Germany did not have much old growth timber, most of their woods being tree farms which they strictly maintained, going to the extent of cleaning the deadfall from the rows of pines. So they were serious about protecting what old and natural growing woods they had.
In SF most training and actual operational planning is done at the team and company level. So there is not that much planning or operations for training done at the Battalion and Group levels. But officers being officers, once of twice a year they would put together some kind of an operation run by the Battalion.
I personally did not much care for northern Germany but Bavaria I Loved. One such operation was set up for almost all the teams in 1st Bn, 10th SFG(A) at Bad Tolz to fly over the England and jump in at an old RAF airfield.
There each team was put into an old RAF barracks building of their own and plan a mission. My teams mission was to strike an Anti-aircraft missile site. It was notionally enemy but in fact a US Army Hawk missile site.
All the teams would fly back across the channel and jump onto the same DZ at Hohenfelds and then go off to do their various assigned missions. So we’re talking four C-130s packed with the teams all jumping the ramp of the aircraft. I was the jumpmaster for the jump for my team.
We landed on the DZ but still a number of the troops got hurt. I think it was like 13 hurt badly enough they were taken off the DZ on stretchers. Broken legs and arms mostly. Thankfully none from my team were injured. The problem was that some tankers had driven on that ground when it was wet and muddy and left ruts 1-2 feet deep all over the DZ. It was winter and the ground was frozen as hard as a rock.
Rah, I saw this story long ago concerning the battle to protect this most amazing forest. The German government’s effort to obliterate it was appalling, unfathomable to me. I simply could not take it in…but then, given that that government under Merkel and now Shroder has, with intent, sought to completely destroy everything, I shouldn’t have been surprised. This, however, was a desecration too far.
Thank you so much for finding this and posting it. I am overjoyed to see that saner heads have prevailed.
Hallelujah!!!!!!!
(Like you, my husband who knows Germany well, loves Bavaria.)
I forgive the UT t-shirt, given the circumstances.
Good morning to all my animal loving Treeper friends.
Hope no one minds one more:

Goodaye ms Idaho. 🙋♀️
Your dream is haunting. We sure do miss Mungrel
Wishing you all a Blessed Thursday
Yes it was ms Idaho. I like to think I had a connection in the wee hours of the morning? Do you know what I mean? 😉
And btw, I’ve been reading all your postings. I have found them most useful ☺️ 💐 ❤️
yes I do know what you mean. I lived with 2 very powerful psychic people (mom & Doc). I put Mungrel in that category. reaching across time and space – I am sure he is with us.
Hold tight to those dreams.
Of course, several f our beloved Treepers are also shining living examples…
Oh yes ❤️ of course! No one has been forgotten ❤️ I love all of them and miss them deeply. You know who you are 😉 I’m feelin you 😘 ❤️
I didn’t like your post. Maybe someone will. I think I’m starting to pick up Betsy’s technique of making up stories when we don’t hear from them. Not yet but I’m working on it. 😉
I can still hear my friend from across the pond saying, “What you don’t know, you make up.”
Another one I picked up which I love very much is
“Take me as you find me.”
Or as Popeye always said, ” I yam what I yam, and that’s all that I yam.” Yep.
isn’t there an old song – ‘Don’t make me over’?
yup – love me warts and all

I’m unfamiliar with a song like that….perhaps if you hummed a few bars??😉

Extremely rare, spectacular film about London during WW-II in color [A.I. enhanced & colorized]
Oh my!!!! We…my British husband and I… have just watched. The music was just perfect for the footage. Perfect. An era passed, never to return. London is lost. Thank you for posting this, sync.
Excellent footage. Some of the scenes are repeated but the street scenes with people is a fascinating glimpse into 1944 London.
It really is remarkable that London wasn’t wiped from the face of the earth…St. Paul’s spared, Buckingham Palace hit but standing, etc.
Yes. If you’ve ever read about the Battle of Britain or ever seen the movie (the usual abbreviated version of the book) by the same name (released in 1969), it is evident that the Lord our God was involved… The desperately under-equipped and undermanned RAF put up a history-making defense of Great Britain against Hitler’s Reich Luftwaffe and finally eliminated all but the occasional “buzz bombs” (V-1 and V-2 rockets launched from France and Holland).
The British and Allied air defenses in Britain shot down the majority of the V-1’s because the crude rockets were relatively slow and had no on-board defense systems. But the later V-2 rockets were supersonic and practically impossible to defend against. Fortunately the Allies found the Germans’ manufacturing and launch sites and destroyed them before the Nazis could re-gain the upper hand.
The reason why it wasn’t is the fact that London was and is so damned big! I was surprised in the view of the docks that it did not show any damage. The docks were a priority target for the Germans and they bombed the hell out of them.
Without looking I knew some of the various footage came from different time periods. In earlier stuff you saw plenty of men in uniform and a lot of Americans. That had to be post 1942 footage and the clean up of the damage from the Blitz gave me the impression it was 1944.
Later some of the footage showed no war damage, and hardly anyone in uniform. Had to be prewar or at least prior to the Blitz footage.
There was of course a later Blitz from the German V-1 and V-2 weapons in 1944 starting shortly after the Normandy invasion and continuing until the launch site were eliminated late that year. After that the Germans concentrated their V-weapons on the allied port at Antwerp primarily.
The V-weapons were in fact terror weapons and could not cause the massive destruction the first Blitz caused. But a V-2 could pretty much wipe out a city block without any warning at all. It was a good thing the Germans did not have more of them and could not have launched them if they did due to the efforts of the Allied Air Forces to destroy their manufacturing and launching facilities.
Thank you, rah and GB.
Every year on the Sunday closest to November 11, the British commemorate all those who served in all wars. It’s called Remembrance Sunday, a very sombre and reverential day. Every town, city or village has a Cenotaph where the inhabitants of each gather and mark this day. At 11: am, everything from John O’Groats to Lands End stops. No extraneous sounds, except for the birds. I always loved that day. The sense of loss is still palpable, and it is quite moving. Poppies worn, gatherings that unite all who live in Britain, choirs, bands, and parades.
Britain has changed in so many undesirable ways since those war days. I pray their reflections on that sacred day of how much was given by so many will never stop.
When I was young, one of my friends was British from London. His mother was nearly hit by a bomb during the war.
One unusual aspect of his family was that his only sibling was 20 years older than him.
nice music
I dunno, I just feel like dancing… old school with flair…
A couple of other “war stories”
The first time I set in foot in Germany was a jump and I landed in one of those cultivated forests. It was a small DZ near Bad Tolz. We flew over to jump 3 C-141Bs that were doing a CARP (Computer Actuated Release Point) exercise flying out of Pease AFB. There were just two to three jumpers per aircraft because it was just my 12 man team jumping and one had to stay in the aircraft to pull in and collect the D-bags.
The CARP calculated release point was about 2 miles off and we came around to the real DZ for a Jumpmaster release. That DZ was narrow and with a road with power lines running down on side and cultivated forest running down the other. The winds being marginal.
Not a one of us landed on the DZ. All went into the woods.
When a jumper is coming down into trees they don’t release their rucksack and ride it in. Jumping an MC1-1B I had some steering capability and aimed for a pile of left over snow in the space between two rows of trees and hit it. That snow was hard, my feet and lower legs penetrated and my ruck frame stopped me dead bending me over my reserve parachute. Knocked the wind out of me. That was my introduction to Germany.

I remember the first Reforger Exercise in Germany after the M1 Abrams tank was introduced into service. The Germans were used to the M60 Patton. The head lights on the M60 were located at the outside edge of the fenders. The headlights on the M-1 were located inside the fenders.
Driving at night approaching a column of tanks the Germans used the headlights as a reference for clearance on those narrow German roads. They were also used to being able to tail gate the M60 tanks.
There were accidents with German drivers running into the tracks of the of the M1s and a number of them found that tailgating the rearward exhaust of the M1 gas turbine engine blistered the paint and crystalized the windshields of their cars. The carnage that first year was significant.
Look at what I stumbled upon this afternoon. I can not believe that some of the europeans and the chickenhawks back at home thought it was a good idea to fund these people.
I’ve had a run on bad luck lately…nothing going right. Daughter had a dead battery in her car. Never jumped one-depended on our guys. You would have chuckled grandpa about how far I backed up after attaching cables. Success!!!!
Daughter’s first attempt at a riding lawn mower, belt popped off. Again, depended on my guy to fix these types of things. Push mower wouldn’t start, etc, etc. very defeating feelings. Then, today, a wonderful young man picking up my other riding mower for service spoke about all kinds of work he does!! And he’s reasonably priced! And push mower decided to cooperate!!! The snake slithered away and my grass dried enough to mow before he took my other mower in for service. Mice ran back into the forest!!!!!he’ll even give me a lesson on the oil thingy. 😝
I’m telling you all this because I want you to know, don’t give up/into these negative feelings. Just when you think it can’t get better, sometimes it does. ❤️
They are exasperating but in the larger scheme of things, a trifle even if they may not seem it at the time.
I have a saying. If that’s the worst thing that happens for the rest of your life – you’ve got it made .
It helps keep things in perspective
Cat, you’ve no idea how I empathize. My jack of all trades husband takes care of everything non domestic. I’ve often thought of my life without him as is entirely possible one day. Take each day one at a time. I’ve decided that is how I’d have to start, one foot in front of the other. although none of us knows until the day comes. The Lord WILL provide is probably the truest thing ever said. I’ve known it to happen with my nearest and dearest and with us in this house more times than I can count.
What next?

I am beginning to think that the ultra-leftist Imgur dot com is censoring conservative and Christian posts.
You never see any on the site, all user comments are without exception far-far left, and now today, when I attempt to post, suddenly they are ‘over – capacity‘?
