The stock market is dropping, Wall Street analysts are flummoxed, but it just isn’t rocket science folks. It’s Main Street economics 101.
The price to produce, manufacture and transport goods has skyrocketed, that’s the Producer Price Index (PPI). Arriving goods at retail are significantly higher in price. Simultaneously, consumer spending is being squeezed by unavoidable inflation in housing, energy, food and gasoline; so consumer spending is tight, that’s the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
Higher costs to retail that cannot be passed on as higher prices to customers, means lower profit margins for the sellers. That’s it. That’s the majority of it. Major retail companies like Target and Wal Mart are reporting the impacts from the squeeze in higher costs that cannot be passed to consumers in higher retail prices. Checkbook economics.
.
Businesses are seeing higher costs in the unavoidable goods they need to sell, the fixed price of goods. What comes next? Businesses, knowing they cannot raise prices too much, look at lowering the costs of operations in an effort to remain competitive, stay profitable, and stay in business.
How do businesses lower operational costs? Increase expectations of employee productivity and/or lower employment costs. That leads to layoffs.
I guarantee you…. YOU know more about the basic principles of Main Street economics than a room full of these Wall Street analysts. I like El-Erian, but sheesh, talk about pretending not to know things.
Look at the companies. The companies most exposed to wholesale inflation, those who deal in highly consumable goods like food, are the companies that will see their profit margins shrink fastest.
Highly consumable goods rise in price from origination (field) to destination (fork) the fastest.
The next phase covers the same results in durable goods. That’s when things get really ugly.
The Carter years will soon be fondly recalled by those of us who endured them.
The Founding Fathers would love to get their hands on today’s current political leadership. Of both parties….
Billy beer and killer rabbits! Good times.
I had to stop canoeing!
And gas rationing! And stagflation!
And that damn sweater he wore at the wh to urge “conserve energy, America” I was a teenager and called bullshit, lol
Odd and Even plate numbers….
Heh, compared to now…..they were.
Been a few decades since I tried Billy Beer! The memories! Thanks for the reminiscing!
reminiscing 1978
Jimmy Carter 1977~1981
Australian band, weren’t they?
yes
Out: Stagflation.
In: Starveflation.
Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg Says Truckers Can Work Longer Hours to Address the Baby Formula Shortage
Pete Butty-gig better check with his very same Dept of Transportation rule-makers on what restrictions they impose on “Truckers Working Longer Hours”
gnomesayin’?
Truckers already work longer hours than 90 of the people in the country…
70 hours per week is a norm !
My grandson is an over the road driver. Gets home 4 days a month to rest and then off again. They pump in a lot of caffeine so they can keep going. Would not trade him for any of the slime in Washington.
Would you trust this guy to have the presence of mind to mow your lawn? How many cartoon characters does it take to make up an installed, globalist puppet government?
“It’s Howdy Doody time!”
We are ruled by our interiors!
These cretins are ALL…INFERIOR. IN EVERY WAY.
Reminds me of the scripture that speaks of being ruled by children.
Sheesh! The sheer ignorance of this administration makes a clown show look like a meeting of Bavarian mid level insurance adjusters.
Well, the average weight gain during the Covid-Schmovid scam was 30 pounds, so the weight loss will be good for everybody, right?
That’s the Left’s agenda. Remember Big Mike’s Let’s Move lunch program? Kids ate kale while she chowed down on ribs and french fries. That is the best example of what happens to the masses in communist hellholes.
Fernwood 2 Night.
Still one of favorite shows.
Because leisure suits cause cancer.
Barth Gimble and Jerry Hubbard!!
LOVED that show!!
29% interest rate on first living room set.
Yep…remember them days
Bought my first house during crater’s presidency. 18 % interest rate.
My sister’s first house cost $18K at 18% interest. Crazy times. Wonder what’s coming our way?
Homes will be Taken from Citizens and GIVEN to Illegal Invaders.
NEVER ILLEGAL MIGRANTS ( Only Blatant COWARDS use that term), NO LONGER ILLEGAL ALIEINS, NOW 100% ILLEGAL INVADERS!!!!
If they are invited in, are they still invaders, or just invitation takers?
The Founding Fathers would love to get their hands on today’s current political leadership.
Were I able to get my hands on today’s current political leadership, I’d insist our Founding Fathers wait their turn.
That might be tough. With as much money floating around Washington these days, they could be bribed before they got there. We have too few in charge of too much. The cost of a bribe is paid back in multiples. Best investment on the planet.
Yet we are told democracies are the best form of government by the people benefiting from them.
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.”
John Adams
We’ve lost that a long time ago in the citizens, but especially the politician representatives.
“It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
… the 2nd part of the statement that I have stored
“A bribe is a charm in the sight of its owner; wherever he turns, he prospers.” “A wicked man receives a bribe from the bosom to pervert the ways of justice.” “A gift in secret subdues anger and a bribe in the bosom, strong wrath.”
A compilation of Proverb verses to show the Power of a Bribe and also it’s softer answer as well, because God is AWESOME!!!
Yes. Pity the young virtue signaling fools railing against Pres. Trump’s mean tweets. His watch 2016-2020 holding back the crazy and the evil is going to end up being their “good old days.”
They likely have no ability to discern reality. Trump broke them. They will actually blame Trump for their current plight.
Gas lines on odd or even days depending on your license plate number. FJB
With Biden its going to be fueling up on a monthly basis depending on your day of the month. Your future digital passport will include everything you need for rationing..
And No Whites Allowed!!!
No fault insurance!
We did survive the Carter administration.
Less than two years into the Biden administration, there remains some serious doubt on our surviving it.
I get the feeling it doesn’t want us to. Some of us at least.
Yes, the Carter years. The Biden years? Not so sure. Carter did not have the unmitigated flow of illegals flowing into the country. These folks will break the system. Where is their housing coming from? Where are they going to get their food? Gas, if the find a vehicle? When the system breaks, it will be very, very ugly, and I’m afraid this country will see unrest and violence it never imagined.
The “folks” you refer to are illegal, folks are allowed to reside here, legally.
Homeland Security just sent out the memo there will be riots & violence this summer. That was encouragement to do so. Will it be abortion rights, the Buffalo mass shooting, or Republicans are responsible & deserve jail?
Either way I do hope ARMED MILITIAS end the RIOTS as they start. FJB and Law Enforcement that REFUSES to apply our Laws to Illegal Activity!!!!
LEO’s that try to do their job, TRY, not TALK, I can respect, the others are Fodder for our future Crop growth IMO.
100% Taxpayers Money from the illegitimate regime and obamas puppet joe. Yes I Know I did not use caps. They are not worthy of them.
Life was good for me! I was a farmer and worked 2 side jobs! Despise Carter but I grew up quickly! Learned to Never Vote for a Democrat. Ever!
Notice jimma carter has reared his idiotic kisser back in public – he was a loser back when and an even bigger loser and failure now along with joebama!!
As of yesterday, here in central Ohio, gasoline shows 100%+ inflation in under 18 months!
From $2.19 when President Trump was in the last months of his term to $4. 49 yesterday!
Thank you, thieving, demonic DEMS, for starting the destruction of America!
All gas in South Dakota is officially over $4.10
$4.89 just South of Eugene, (SchittHole) Oregon !
A friend in Portland texted me a photo of NW 23rd & Burnside yesterday morning and there in broad daylight on the sidewalk…on that busy street…was a middle aged completely naked woman.
Portland has just gone nuts and I think the people there will never do what needs to be done to fix it.
You should have been with us 10 years ago on a Sunday afternoon in San Francisco, when two homosexuals wearing only hats and sandals were letting it all hang out while strolling down a main street.
Our host, my wife’s cousin, started crying and apologizing: “I HATE THIS CITY! I wish I could go with you, when you return to Ohio.”
But her family was too entrenched in San Francisco.
eewwww!!
what she left out is this is the upscale millenials gentrified shops and homes hang out spot
so it’s really great to have this happen in the heart of Garbageville / Riot-town
I’d say Nuke it, but I am in Cali. Don’t want the fallout blowing my way….
My sister lives in San Fran and same thing. When we were on the phone she saw 2 naked guys standing outside. Hard to believe this is even our country anymore.
$5.81 in Sacramento at Costco.
$6.37 in North county San Diego. $7.00 coming soon I’m sure.
Where I am it’s an exact “”” 142 % increase “”” as of yesterday, I know some areas are higher percentages than that, like Texas and Oklahoma because their prices were so cheap under Trump.
Washington State (west side) $5.05 @ Safeway, reg unleaded.
I live in SoCal. Hold my beer.
Same here, $5.38 for the no name cheapo gas….
$4.85 for regular, here in central PA.
Try California; well past the $6.00/gal and we have a very large state. Some people travel 2 hours just to get to work!
$5.29 and rising where I’m at in Alaska. It’s real bad out in remote areas of Alaska, over $10 a gallon.
ONLY AMERICANS CAN STOP THIS AND SAVE AMERICA!!! NO ONE IS COMING TO OUR RESCUE!!!!
And NOT by Voting.
Yet all the experts will use phrases like: “downward surprise”, “shocking earnings miss” or “unforeseeable headwinds”.
We all know it’s no surprise, we are not shocked and we foresaw the headwinds.
Or as Odumbo put it, “managed decline”. FBO and FJB!
FJB! (Or as Elon musk says) “Or whoever is in charge of his Teleprompter…”!
Remember TOTUS? Teleprompter Of The United States? Watching an 0bummer speech looked like watching someone that was watching a ping pong match
I remember that- the teleprompter was what; on twitter or something? Great fun.
FJB has always been a useless baby kissing, hand shaking cretin of a man. He’s never known anything but how to make government bigger and fatter and stupider. God forgive me but I despise the useless bastard and his handlers. I assure he’s utterly clueless.
Yesterday at Target, it looked like the Good Will. Every season of clothing represented, mixed together jumbled, in piles, falling off racks. What a flipping mess. No help.
I have never seen Target, HomeGoods and Walmart so discombobulated, in my life.
They have the offshore late shipments, of past seasons and the spring and summer season, all mushed up.
But NO ONE IS BUYING ANYTHING.
Very true Ma Kettle.
People are buying very little and only basic goods.
Carts of shoppers have only a few items in them, no carts are over flowing.
The staff at HomeGoods were just circling the store, with red markdown sticker machines and still, no takers.
Good, goods on Cape Cod are hard to come by, in these knock off places. And still no takers.
I had a similar experience at a hospital in Boston last week. I go to the hematologist every 6 months there. This time when I walked in, 30 min early to get my bloodwork done before appointment, the staff were literally waiting for me! “Don’t even bother sitting down, come here and let’s get your vitals. Now go to phlebotomy.”
phlebotomist – “No waiting today, come right in”.
when I got that done, “ Go right back to the nurse’s station, we’ll put you right into a room. Don’t go to the waiting room.”
It was like I had my own personal team. Really weird.
My daughter works at Bath and Body Works for her summer job. It’s been pretty slow, they’ve been cutting her hours.
Hadn’t been in home goods in ages. Was there yesterday. The store was bulging with merchandise. You could hardly walk down any aisle because product was overflowing. It didn’t occur to me till now why.
My food bill each week keeps rising and my bag count gets smaller. If I had my dog, his poo bags would be in severe shortage!
Only full carts are the food stamp folks who got a 25% increase last October, courtesy of us taxpayers.
That is what I see; carts with less than 15 items in them; making the “15 items or less” lane
the longest!
thats funny as my wife always bitched that they had summer clothes in the winter and winter clothes in the summer.
Instead of looking that they are 6 months behind, act like you’re a half year ahead, LOL Just a tad behind in style.
Target hadn’t got any of my money in years.
My Daughters and Daughter in Law, live and breathe, all their products and perks.
Poor man!
I’ll never forget their CEO was one of the first to promote the lgbtqxyz same sex bathrooms. Didnt want to label them men & women. He became woke to cover the sins of his all China inventory.
That’s when I stopped shopping there. Hate the place.
Me Too
Not since they let boys in girls restrooms.
F Target and the SJW horse they rode in on!~
Why were you in a TARGET Store ?
Lost ?
Nah, just with my sweetie DIL, and my first granddaughter. They are completely innocent.
We’re going to buy dish detergent, tea and soup tomorrow, Lord willing. 😉
watch out for suds if they’re throwing it in the harbor
the dish detergent, not the tea
Unexpectedly.
FCSD (fed chair Sundance)
GTHJ (go to Jerome)
I’m 95% cash thanks to you SD.
That aint bragging much thanks to you Powell.
yup
I went to 100% cash. It’s saved me over $100k in losses!
I’m probably well over 100K in losses in my IRA, not sure because I refuse to look. It’s a paper loss, so can’t sell now. Thing is, the market will rebound and I’ll recover the loss. At that point, however, I’m out. Too close to retirement to experience this nightmare again.
At 68 I have entertained thoughts of cashing out my 401K regardless of the tax penalty. Surely, I would retain more of my savings between the mattresses than what I would lose should I leave my 401K intact.
You could have switched to physical gold at age 62 with no penalties
I made the jump to precious metals in my 401 about 4-5 years ago. Sorry I learned too late. It made up for a bit of the loss I had in stocks. My dad always said: Rive and Rearn.
You cash out now and buy back in at the bottom, save 25%-50% of the cash out for personally managed tangible investments, or for cash reserves that can be interest bearing in a savings account, etc. Then invest the rest in stocks that are bargain priced (after a crash), the multiples gained by compounding returns after a stock crash will far exceed any tax paid on they early cash out.
I think you give sound advice.
You have withdraw a certain percentage of your IRA rollovers when you turn 70 1/2.
Take your RMD for the year tomorrow if you have not done so already.
It’s going to get worse. I doubt this Congress is going to give a second free pass on RMD s like it did in 2020. Congresscritters Pretending to Care is over. Now comes the hammer. Don’t have a forced sale at a 50 percent loss. Whatever hit you are taking tomorrow, it could be quadrupled by December.
I think this does get better – when, though, is crystal ball territory.
The petrodollar is dying. Something will be replacing it after the crash. God willing, it will be real money backed by gold and commodities, not a CBDC tied to a vaxxport Mark of the Beast.
Pray.
Foodstores, reliable potable water, fixed expenses to the extent possible, good footwear (90 percent of shoes come from China and they are mostly crappy), communications, some land, a garden, seeds, strong family, good neighbors, a King James Bible. All will be worth their weight in gold soon.
401k’s suddenly become 201k’s.
If the market crashes from these phony propped up highs, it may be 30 years before we see these levels again.
The 1929 crash didn’t recoup until 1954; the 2000 crash took 13 years
I’d put some of that fiat in precious metals as well.
Mine’s all cash too. Higher interest rates actually have me making pretty good money.
And the Waltons (Wal-Mart) didn’t want Trump to be President, because he would disrupt the flow of cheap goods from China.
This is another variation of Schumpeter’s creative destruction of capitalism.
Smart people like Sam Walton have stupid children, and their fortune is gone with the wind.
I buy eggs. Cheap eggs are up over a $1 a dozen.
Alidi’s cheap eggs were 1.29/dozen before Biden, now $2.29!
No way inflation is only 8%. Complete phony numbers.
they exclude “food and energy” from the Consumer Price Index (CPI)
convenient, huh?
It’s known as the “core rate”.
yeah, the “core” that excludes almost everything you spend money on every week:
food and gas
We were paying less than sixty cents a dozen for eggs at our Aldi in early 2020 in Central Florida. I still can’t believe there is no end in sight to the price hikes.
Get some chickens in your backyard, for eggs. If you don’t have a rooster, they should be quiet, and then when they get past laying, you can butcher them.
If your zoning laws don’t permit, get elected to your city council and change the zoning. Get some neighbors to help. Some can get milk goats (just a few little guys), you can have chickens, another raise rabbits, have community garden.
Set up a trading group. Some can sew (like me) to mend clothing. It’s easy to grow fodder for the rabbits.
Lots of chickens running around here on Oahu. They’re all over the island in Kauai.
During Trump era…. On sale I was getting a dozen large eggs for 50 cents, normal priced 99 cents.
I am a pastry chef and buy lots of eggs. An 18 pack of large eggs at Vons is now $7.00.
Trader Joe’s is way better at around $2.50/dozen.
$2.20/dozen at Family $
Vons is the problem there.
They don’t count food or fuel in the cost of living calculations
Darwin: It’s perfectly understandable. Most people don’t eat or drive cars.
Funny… the Amish are immune to most of our modern problems.
They have changed the items and weighting in the indices, since the 70s.
John Williams at http://www.shadowstats.com has tracked this and recalculated the REAL rate of inflation on his website.
How convenient…..food and fuel, our 2 biggest consumables.
Paid $4.29 for 18 last week. The bread we like went from $3.20 $4.38. Been baking to get back in the swing of things. Flour is still reasonable.
Good time to stock up on flour, and ways to store it. 5 gallon buckets, mylar bags, etc…..hard times coming soon.
I’ve been seeing stupid items go up 100- 150%, it baffles my mind.
What’s worse is these things can go up 10-20 times that if stuff keeps going the way it is.
18 eggs are 4.35 Hampton Rds Va area. Normally 1.40.
We have backyard chickens and the cost of bedding & chicken food is going up. Thankfully, we get enough eggs to feed 3 families.
Don’t overlook produxt downsizing on top of all the other elements.
Shrinkflation.
Just told Hubby how a half gallon, 64 oz of ice cream is now 48 oz, and the price per oz is thru the roof.
I will not weep for Target, retail groomers of the worst sort. Their children’s clothing section is a paedophile’s and “transgender” lovers’ dream. No distinction in their dressing rooms…all are welcome no matter which of the only 2 genders wish to use them.
That company, in my view, deserves to see their bottom line collapse. So no…no tears whatsoever.
Walmart reported first time they sold more half gallon milk than gallon milk .
Folks cutting back.
I cut milk out 10 years ago, when I realized it was the cause of my Severe Migraines.
It inflames my asthmatic kids’ lungs too. The weird thing is that the one asthmatic kid it affected so badly as a toddler, is now an adult my only real milk drinker. My other two asthmatics won’t touch it. And my non-asthmatics usually only have milk if they’re dunking cookies in it. We hardly drink any milk in our house anymore.
Twitter vows to donate bots to man the spam lines upon looming mass unemployment and food shortages.
Spam is a good think to hoard in times of food shortage. Bots, not so much.
Super salty tasty …..Spam.
You’ll actually need the sodium if times get really tough.
They have 25% reduced sodium now.
Spam, like bologna, when fried and slapped on white bread with mayo, lettuce and tomato, is pretty darn tasty.
Found canned pulled pork and canned corned beef at Costco business for my emergency hoard. Looks good.
Speaking of spam, I’ve accumulated quite a bit of spam for the coming food shortage, maybe. So I should go back and try what I used to love for breakfast. Spam, fried hash browns with pancakes. Syrup dolloped all over everything! Yum.
you can make spam musubi.
Also the $3/lb canned hams at Dollar General are a good protein buy.
Now that’s funny right there! I needed that!
All I keep thinking is—
Thank you Sundance!
I now know more about economics than I ever have!
I am just waiting for the Hunger Games now.
Should not be that long after the mass layoffs start to kick off.
I foresee a Ready Player One scenario upcoming soon.
Those consumer durable goods and discretionary goods that are being hit (NOT PURCHASED) are the core of National GDP measurements, domestic sales as well as Overseas Trade.
The Trade Deficit is about to get uglier as every other nation, except the US, does what ever is possible to protect its workforce and GDP producing assets. What follows is jobless claims rising, work force participation dropping and increased pace of Capital moving off-shore as well as the rate of decrease in IPO’s.
This is Obamanomics unfettered by any political worries or worries about impact to citizens.
CONTROL = POWER.
but but but we only have 3.5% unemployment the best eva!!!how about we go by the actually number of people unemployed, not base it off unemployment claims,as once your benefits are up your done and taken off the unemployment figures.i bet the true unemployed numbers are closer to 15-20%
And where is their source of income coming from?
Inflation is easily at 20% if not more, adjusted for reality and including food and fuel. Hello, Venezuela!
El Erian avoided the obvious but he did allude to illiquidity in the bond market. That is something I am concerned about, some day we may get an unexpected spike in interest rates. Starting June the FED wants to unload a little of the $ 9 trillion of bonds they bought with nothing, and the ECB may stop their bond buying later this year. Who is going to buy all these bonds and at what interest rate?
Why doesn’t the Fed just hold the bonds? Why can’t the Fed just hold till maturity?
Where were headed the laws of economics dont matter. Own Nothing and Eat Bugs
Would rather be an outlaw.
Own nothing and die.
Death is a feature, not a flaw of their evil scheme.
and babies get Gates of Hell Biomilq.
Stopped by Krogers this afternoon. The Top Ramen shelf space was completely empty.
sucks having high blood pressure.
?? don’t.
meanwhile gail king laments:
(re buffalo)
KING: You know, I now sit here, I’m so afraid. I have a nephew who lives in the Midwest, 20 something, black man, who walks his dog who said I was never afraid to walk my dog. Now I’m in the Midwest, just walking around, minding my own business thinking this could happen at any time.
lady if that was a pet pig, then he’d have BIG problems.
pathetic. How many thousands of white people are killed by blacks every year, but if we said something like that we’d never have a job again.
IMO the U.S. may not recover from the Obama/Biden years.
There is a peculiar feel all of this..
When Sikhs I am friendly with openly discuss B.R.I.C.S. and the money changers at the U.S. Fed. I take special note.
Some of these guys have money, and they are extremely negative on Stocks for several weeks now.
They tell me trade from India and Russia is booming..and not just agriculture and energy, but technology too.
Who knows, but over the last few decades the U.S. has made a few enemies.
Cheers!
US isn’t meant to recover, see Agenda 21/ 2030/NWO and Book of Revelation. All playing out here in the formerly best place on earth, the US of A.
I read years ago that Ramen noodles don’t digest like egg noodles do. Kinda sits awhile in the tummy! As much as I used to eat them, I rarely ever buy them anymore. When I came home from S.E. Asia. those noodles brought back memories! I was always a Campbell chicken moodle soup kinda guy.
My last Ramen noodles were about 45 years ago. I happened to notice the empty space as I was going down the aisle. Didn’t even venture onto the baby aisle. Cannot report on the formula situation.
What this government is doing is criminal; destroying our economy by removing disposable income.
REMOVE 535 and our economy is restored.
Can not imagine on where 535 are going to go to when the reset of having a Constitution and law and order return.
During 1776 period, treason had one outcome.
It is absolutely Criminal and being done on purpose by the Biden Regime. It’s really the worst kind of Treason against the People of this Country and the world for that matter because our food/ grains feed so many.
I’m going to post the following comment here and on other sites I trust–and do it repeatedly.
Every single person in the employ of this government that is initiating, promoting, producing, creating, enabling, defending (ESPECIALLY DEFENDING), or apologizing for the current destruction of this country is evil incarnate and a mortal enemy of the American People.
I will not be more detailed, but I hope that anyone drawing a paycheck from the US government that meets the definition above burns in Hell for eternity.
Do you remember the time decades ago when working for any government…local, state, but especially federal… paid way less than the private sector? I do.
“Let them eat grass and bugs” will be Sloe Joe’s next utterance.
“You first” will be my reply.
Heh, only if bugs and grass stand between me and starvation.
If it came to that I`ll overcome my squeemishness on the subject.
Yup. Until Soylent Green goes into mass production sometime next year.
Movie was set in 2022.
In the 1970’s we didn’t have debt levels anywhere near where they are now. These times are much more treacherous than the 70’s. The economy can really implode and be crushed under a mountain of fake dollars and debt.
We also had a shared language, country etc. And people with basic skills and decency. We don’t have that anymore.
This is true.
Simple math:
Yearly spend on gasoline and food per family (2 vehicles and 4 people)
Trump in 2019 – $2500 in gas and $4200 on groceries – $6700 per year
Biden in 2022 – $5000 in gas and $5700 per in groceries – $10,800 per year
None left for discretionary spending on ANYTHING else – Hello, Walmart and Target – It’s game over and BIDEN is doing this to you, you stupid, Woke Corporate Schmucks.
Think he cares about the American people ? Nope
Think he cares about retailers? No again
Well said. And right in line with my thinking. Which is…how many abysmal quarters will corporate America endure before the penny drops that the Marxist political party they all shovel millions upon millions of dollars into supporting means to screw them over. Three? Four?? More?
If at this point they can’t see where this is all going, they’ve been partaking of too many two martini lunches with their fascist buddies in government.
Walmart and Target do not give a damn. They are protected monopolies that will be rewarded as they were in the lockdown drill. Eventually they will manage the bread lines while they and their families dine on lobster and steak.
They may not give a damn ideologically but have you seen their stock prices in the last 6 months?
Target – $250 to $150
Walmart – $160 to $120
Th execs with stock options care – trust me.
Meanwhile, our tax dollars are going to support the “refugee” invaders in the style to which they hope to become accustomed.
I was spending $1000 a month pretax on fuel under Obama, with my tax rate on income that figured to roughly $14,500 per year. Now it would be ~ $16,000 per year….. good thing I don’t drive at all anymore.
Some people are working just to pay for the gas to get to work…. How long till they comprehend that Situation???
This is Agenda 2030 – get us out of home ownership. Get us out of our cars. Get us unemployed so that we work for the multinational plantations.
This report uses some remarkable graphics making very clear the rapid conversion of single family homes and neighborhoods into rentals by just a hand full of companies.
With Piles of Cash, Big Investors Become NC’s Top Rental-Home Landlords

.—
No end here to the calls to our house asking if we want to sell. Blackrock must be paying well. We don’t answer when we are advised “call from unavailable” or “call from anonymous” or “call from wireless caller”.
However once in a while my very irked husband will answer just to unsettle them, shall we say.
Tonight one person asked to speak to me, using my Christian name, which really angers me. I don’t know this rude pushy individual, and yet he presumed to have met me and become my friend. My husband told this person that we don’t own any property. The silence from the caller on hearing that was gloriously deafening. Odious vultures all.
I left Charlotte in 1983, never looked back, never missed it, or regretted it.
Best move I ever made.
We moved back from overseas where we were supremely happy, but getting to an age where we needed to choose the best place to be when things went south, as they do when one gets older.
We bought a house in Texas with the intent to stay in it for the rest of our lives if we could. So far so good.
It takes energy and purpose to uproot one’s self, and it takes the ability to metaphorically see around corners as best as can be done. It sounds as if you did that.
Congratulations. It seems you made a good choice.
Betsy, you my dear are blessed with a double portion of wisdom!
Thank you, MR. It was hard come by.
Don’t forget the Chinese and Bill Gates, who are buying as much land as they can get their hands on.
Oh yes. There is whole play bill of actors who are doing this. Terrible, greedy, soulless actors. Squaw Warren was one at one point. When the housing market crashes, they’ll all swoop in like the vultures they are. I’m sure they are on their knees right now praying (although to whom I’m unsure) it happens soon.
Bezos too, I hear.
Sundance, this would be a great time to extend your analysis of inflation flow-through from Food to Energy.
The Oil and Gas value chains in the USA, and the effects of Administration “Disruptive Actions” like Refinery shut-downs, Pipeline disapprovals, Venezuelan Crude imports, Exports of Crude Oil & Refinery Outputs to the EU, etc.
Treepers need to be armed with understanding to thwart the malfeasance!
Add discontinued Leasing on federal lands, obstructed Drilling Permits on current Leases, discontinued Drilling during Pandemic Shut-Downs, laid-off Workforces that migrated to new geographies and industries, reduced Factory & Service Industry capacity along with their feeder Supply Chains, Administration commitment to massively subsidize expansion of the Green-Energy and EV industries to displace-and-destroy the Oil & Gas Industry that triggered absolutely minimal Capex and maximum Cash Flow to survive, etc.
I was hanging on to energy stocks, which outperformed this last quarter. The invocation of the Defense Production Act for baby formula has just convinced me to sell them.
If the government is going to seize and distribute baby formula, national security!! – you know that is just a precursor to seizure of the energy resources.
Venezuela here we come.
Energy workers would walk.
Ends it in 3 days.
How can this be averted?
What can we do?
No avoidance the ship is going down. Get prepared with Food stockpiles now.
The lifeboats were half full from the Titannic. Learn from history. cya, you are on your own.
Pray. Prepare. Resist the insanity~
There were 325 first class passengers on board – 202 first class passengers survived. About 2/3 or 66% roughly
How many Third Class passengers survived the Titanic? Only an estimated 172 of the roughly 709 passengers traveling in Steerage were lucky enough to survive the disaster, just 24% of those journeying on a third class ticket.
Grow a large garden, grow the most of the vegetables you can grow best in your soil. Be prepared to feed yourself. Tell all your friends and family to grow a garden.
Many ways to garden, even if you have no real land. Raised bed, container gardening, 5 gallon buckets, grow bags, indoor with grow lights. Just got my first pressure canner and mason jars to preserve what we have should the grid go down. Time to get back to the Old Ways!
The Big guy did that !
I will not shed a tear for wal-mart or any of these other big box stores. They got to stay open during covid and make record profits.
It is their turn to get squeezed.
Their Board and execs know what is coming. As in Covid they have been assured of protected monopoly status in the new world order. This all will have to get far far worse before it gets better.
Wal Hell stock down 11%. Good riddance.
All over the freaking flu! I’m 64 marginally overweight have HB and type2 diabetes and have had covid twice now. It was no worse than ANY flu I’ve ever had and milder than one I had at age 15. Yet these large corporations have played our government and us like violin. Their time will come, trust in G_d, He misses nothing!
The Walmart here still has winter men’s and women’s clothing. Of course, it isn’t summer quite yet, but usually, they have gotten rid of that stock by now.
I don’t see many people shopping for things other than food, vegetable plants which are selling out quickly, and gardening supplies. I’ve seen that people are still making small purchases, cheaper necessary items. I noticed that cans of spray paint are being marked up about $1.00 as new stock comes in, but there are some weird colors (like matte pig pink and satin avocado green) that are still at the lower price. Avocado green project, an easy decision.
Yeah, good luck finding seed potatoes. I hear one cannot plant store bought sprouting taters as they have been treated with a chemical that won’t allow them to grow.
That’s not true. I didn’t buy organic either. Just regular old potatoes and left them in a dark closet for a month. We’re not a big carb family so I haven’t grown potatoes since I was a kid with my Irish potato farmer grandpa but my potatoes are actually growing like weeds here in my last year’s tomato garden.
Thoughts from those among us who are older and hopefully therefore wiser when it comes to economic history. My wife and I have several rental properties in Arizona, all cash flowing well but I feel ridiculously over-priced. I’ve felt the stock market was ridiculously over-priced as well, but I’m always ready to shift asset mix when a sector or investment type goes “low” while another feels high. Would now be the time to sell real estate, take the tax hit without exchanging, and shift into more funds and stocks?
Not according to Peter Navarro. He says the stock market may have some bumps up but overall he says no way. He says “don’t catch a falling knife” and he believes the stock market is going way down. It seems to me that people are always going to need to rent houses, especially when they are saying you will own nothing and be happy. Mortgage rates are going up, young people aren’t going to be able to afford to buy a home. If I had rental property and wanted to get out of it, I’d sell it take the tax hit and buy tangible assets. That’s just me though.
Sell the rentals now, unless you have family living in them.
Put the cash in interest bearing savings accounts when the rates get good enough….
They will be going higher, most likely 10-15% range.
Wait for a stock market crash, When you see one, Plow 50% of the cash into good undervalued stocks, while leaving the rest in savings.
The insanity will have gasoline thrown on the fire when the Regime and Republicans pass some sort of $13T “stimulus” to try and stave off recession.
I had started shopping at my local farmers market when the “scamdemic” hit because I refused to wear a mask and go into the crummy Wal-Mart stores. I will continue to do this in addition to supplementing my diet with my vegetable garden produce.
Also, I am using local honey from the local bee-keepers as a substitute sweetener, and using local grocery markets, and Dollar General stores for the remainder of what I need.
I’ve been managing quite well without Wal-Mart and the other big chain stores. I hope more people will do the same.
Support your local Farmers!
Become the local farmer….
Target took a bloodbath today. Just the beginning.
SD- I want ugly. I want this whole country to feel the pain that a large majority of our “so called country” voted for which we know is a LIE.
When the Majority of Americans (Left,RINOS,Independent, ?) finally realize they have been duped it will be too late.
The narcissist Ovomit is too dumb to have planned what is going on.
Now that Islamic scum Valerie Jarrett may be a player but even she is a a puppet of whoever is controling our illegal government if that’s what YOU want to call it.
WHO IS DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY?
FORGET ABOUT LOCAL ELECTIONS….AS YOU CAN SEE IN PA IT’S A FREAKING JOKE JUST LIKE THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL!!
WHEN WILL THE MAGA PEOPLE WHO WENT TO DC TO LEGITIMATELY AND PEACEFULLY PROTEST A STOLEN ELECTION FINALLY SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?
I’M WAITING… AND I’M NOT GOING AWAY.
LIKE SUNDANCE HAS STATED HUNDREDS OF TIMES…..”THERE ARE MORE OF US THAN THERE ARE OF THEM” and he
underestimated bigly.
I’m so old, I can remember when Goldman Sachs CEO, Lloyd Blankenfein, said that we are experiencing demand-driven inflation. He said that a long, long time ago. Last Sunday, to be precise.
Whatever Goldman Sachs says – usually points in the opposite direction of reality.
Baby El: Blankenfein was using his Sunday TV appearance to pump stocks while his crew was unloading before today’s meltdown. He knew what Fed Charman Powell was going to say, earlier this week, which would be good for one more little “goose,” before today’s sell off.
LOL 🙂 🙂
Enjoy the good times while you can. It only gets worse, far worse from here. Ain’t We Got Fun
I was kind of smiling this morning at Target tanked 25%.
Haven’t been in one of their stores since they got confused about which restroom men should use.
It used to be that about four times a year, always on a Sunday, I would see signs at Big Lots “Today Only 20% Off Everything.”
Now I see these signs every five days or so.
I’m close to someone in the logistics business. Tonight’s discussion was about how his business is about to raise wages across the board significantly. It’s consumer goods, grocery store products. His business warehouses and transports to the store. As he put it, he’s the last 25% of the transportation and storage of your corn flakes. All this to say that inflation is going up, up, up.
The Fed better get a grip. Panic increasing interest rates at too high a rate will do damage as will not raising interest rates. It’s a balance I do not have confidence that Mr. Powell can get right.
As for the debt? It’s going to hurt. DC needs to feel some pain somehow for what they’ve done to this country. And increasing Congressional pay is like grabbing food from starving people.
All part of the plan to destroy our Constitutional Republic and our freedom. When they are done with us we will have nothing but memories of our lost freedom.
Come election day be very diligent, prevent the steal and make sure everyone you know votes the members of the DC swamp out.
I remember the old typing drill form years ago “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their Country”. Nowadays add all good women also. The drill was created after the Civil War. It was a spin off of Patrick Henrys “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their Party”.
Target also went woke…
My thoughts exactly. I saw their commercial last week selling this bs.
PPI stands for Producer Price INDEX.
Maybe Target’s bottom line is being impacted by their promotion of gender dysphoria clothing line. I called yesterday, canceled my red card and promised I would never shop there again. I wonder how many other Americans did likewise. God bless America.
Good for you, Eliza! Let’s see how well Target can survive with the far left fringe lunatics.
“How do businesses lower operational costs? Increase expectations of employee productivity…”
So many of today’s younger workers do not have the same work ethic that workers had in the 20th century. Keep in mind I wrote “so many”–definitely not all.
If employers were having trouble with good and reliable workers prior to Jan 2021, I am thinking that the same trouble likely still exists.
Increased expectations of employee productivity may not be widely realized, sad to say.
When looking at the Dow Jones, which is what is being shown in the photos above, remember that this is not necessarily that your particular shares are losing value. The Dow only shows if people are buying (Dow goes up) or selling (Dow goes down.
Mr El-Erian’s “Black Swan” is at it again.
The last time we came this way more than 40 years ago, it took our economy some years to recover.
It’s time to batten down the hatches.
There’s one sure bet you can make if you could, whatever the government can do to make matters worse, they will.
On top of all the misery we are going through they are now predicting that we will be having power outages during the summer. They really want us to suffer. then they wonder why so many are depressed and turning violent.
