The results from the poll show despite about a 50/50 split in response to the question about have you heard of the SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe v Wade, there was almost no statistical change in voter opinion from prior polling.
More depressingly for the leftists in media, when it comes to enthusiasm about voting in the mid-terms because of this issue, the enthusiastic crowd is the pro-life happy people. The registered voters who would be grumpy or angry was 20%. The registered voters who would be happy or joyful was 38%. Whoops. But wait, it gets better….
When you compare the results of the internal questions to the last time they were asked, there’s no difference in response. This issue is such a predetermined opinion, that virtually nothing around it changes.

If we were not so easily pulled into wrongly conflating religion for constitutional values we would have half these issues.
My opinion has always been that there are only two instances where “abortion” could be allowable.
In my mind, even in the case of rape/incest, a life is still a life, however terrible and horrible the mother’s circumstances are. It’s not the baby’s fault. In the case of the mother’s life, everything should be done to save her and the baby. If it cannot be done to save them both, in that extreme instance, everything should be done to save the mother’s life for the sake of her other children and family. Two very sad circumstances that take a tremendous amount of strength and prayer to get through.
Aborting for all other reasons, such as, convenience, “unwanted pregnancy”, Down’s syndrome or other defect, age of the mother, lack of a father, career, etc etc etc are inexcusable because a life is still a life. And yes, I do know what I’m talking about. Abortion is not birth control. Abortion is not healthcare except in the most extreme circumstances of imminent death of the mother. Many babies are born premature and the medical community rallies to save those babies because they are “wanted”. It should be so with all babies. Human life is precious – we are not a part of the “animal kingdom” – we are separate and distinct.
The slippery slope of abortion is a devaluation of human life in general – kill off the unwanted babies, kill off the unwanted old people, kill off the disabled or “different” people, etc., is all the same thing in my mind. When we devalue human life for any reason, we’ve stepped off a cliff.
Rather than fund abortion clinics, we could instead fund pregnancy centers with those billions of dollars, where those mothers and babies could get all the help they need. And help for life if needed.
I’ll never move off this position since I answer to the Lord and not anyone else.

At this point medical science has advanced so that babies born at 25 weeks can make it outside the womb. Abortion to save the mother’s life is a very frail argument in the 21st century.
I personally know 3 unrelated and separated by great geographic distance where a child conceived in rape was either carried to term and adopted out or raised by family (the raped mother was 13).
All were well adjusted and solid in their decisions.
Even in “life of the mother” instances, just delivering the baby via c-section is a safer procedure than an abortion and the baby stands a chance of survival.

Actually, if it is possible to take a fetus/child from the womb of a woman who either can’t or won’t carry that fetus/child to term, and implant this fetus/child into the womb of a surrogate mother, wouldn’t that be a viable option to abortion? Then once born that child could be adopted by a family who would love and care for it.

Given the essentially universal access of contraception to women, and given that single motherhood is no longer stigmatized, I don’t think the right to an abortion is regarded as the keystone of women’s liberation the way it was when I was a kid. And I think just about everyone makes exceptions for rape victims and women in life-threatening medical crises.
The pro-abortion people might be the victims of their own success: they got women — particularly single women — to think about alternatives to abortion.
Planned Parenthood probably likes to think of itself as a near-universally beloved and valued institution, but I suspect most women wouldn’t be caught dead at a PP abortion clinic if they could possibly avoid it. I think when most people think of PP, they think of Guatemalen housekeepers who’ve been raped by their white bosses, or something equally sordid. There are extremely negative class connotations associated with PP. It’s not nice, but it nonetheless matters when the entire female population is taken into consideration.
