Like I said: The Yamal-Europe pipeline ends in two legs at entering Europe. The first leg goes via Belarus and Poland to Germany. A German gasprovider obviously bought a slot on the first leg to send some gas east to Poland. According to Reuters Gazprom had reserved slots to send gas westwards later on and is probably doing so now.
The other leg of the pipeline goes through Belarus, Ukraine and Slovakia to Austria and has been transporting gas from east to west as one would expect. Same as Nordstream I, that works normally.
They worked out a deal, even if they have to pretend otherwise.
Just like our One-Party Press pretends Putin isn’t blackmailing the Bidens with actual kompromat (as opposed to the Fake Trump kompromat-Big Lie.)
It’s one thing when Russia cuts off the delivery of gas via a pipeline, that is troubling!! But it’s an entirely different situation when a country cuts off the building of its own oil pipeline for a climate change hoax in a fools errand to “save the planet”!!!! The Russians can easily turn the gas back on! But an unfinished pipeline takes time and money to finish building before it can be used!!! Hard to say which is worse? IMHO

I was researching some info I had heard about the amount of energy necessary to produce EV batteries and I came across this article from, of all places, the WEF.
While arguing for EVs they actually end up making a case against them.

According to one study cited in the article, it takes 9 years for an EV to simply break even with a diesel-powered car when it comes to overall carbon emissions from production and use.
By that time the EV requires a battery replacement.
I think that is the whole point. They don’t want us to have personal transportation. Personal transportation = freedom. Freedom = bad.
I bought a new ’05 Prius and ran jt as my primary commuter/shopping/vacation vehicle for 13 years (150K miles), then sold it to my brother in law who is still driving it daily. It still has the original factory-installed hybrid battery to this day.
In a hybrid, the battery may be discharged and re-charged multiple times during a combined city/highway trip longer than 30 minutes. So who knows how many cycles mine went through the first 13 years. A key design element is that the battery is never discharged deeply (i.e., more than 50%) before being recharged via the gasoline engine’s alternator, which greatly extends the battery life.
With a total average efficiency of 48mpg, I still believe a good hybrid passenger car is the optimum solution for energy efficiency and overall cost to own & operate without sacrificing convenience. But this does not apply to high GVWR vehicles that must tow, navigate rough terrain, and/or carry heavy loads.
A friend of mine had a honda crx in the mid eighties, it got an est. 52mpg, and that was a peppy little car. There were other cars, volkswagon even had a couple I think, with 48 mpg.
What happened to these full gas, non-hybrid cars. Seems we would be better off engineering more efficient gas engines.
I think so too. The problem is that there is a limit to the efficiency of gasoline engines. Diesel engines might be a better idea. Something similar to a train where the brakes recharge the battery and the diesel fuel requires less refining and lubricates engine parts.
Yes, I agree, there are limitations, but after 2 decades, the hybrid model in GB Bari’s example got 4mpg less than those earlier cars.
Diesel would be a good idea to explore, Volkswagon and Audi have had diesel models for years.
Beyond the engine efficiency, materials engineering could be discovering lighter stronger materials to reduce weight to improve mpg while maintaining safety.
I can’t see any advantage to a hybrid concerning better mpg when compared to a comparably sized vehicle.

I agree that the hybrid makes sense as a commuter vehicle. Total car is heavy, needs special tires and the brakes don’t do well coming down Pikes Peak. The Prius struggles to crawl up to the Continental Divide with 4 people inside. It certainly cannot haul freight.

My husband and I just came back from a three hour Trump rally in CT which was hosted by a man who goes by the pen name of Palin (for Todd, not Sarah) Smith (as in the old movie, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington). Palin runs these rallies almost every weekend in some part of the state. We were in a great location and had a whole row of flags: American, Trump 2020, Trump 20204, Don’t Blame Me I voted for Trump, Don’t Tread on Me, and a few others. An older gentleman brought a sound system and had typical Trump rally music playing. Another man, dressed in colonial garb, who calls himself Patriot Drummer Mike, played his colonial era drum. An almost life size cardboard cutout of Trump was also present. It was a windy day, so the flags were all blowing and we had many horns-a-tooting. It was a sunny day and young girls were dancing to the beat of the music. For those who are on Facebook, you can look up Palin Smith to see his next rally. The goal for Palin Smith is to get big enough rallies that will get President Trump’s attention so that he will hold a rally in CT.

“Over the past 10 years I have worked as a board-certified Emergency Physician in Louisiana. Shortly after the Pfizer mRNA COVID-19 vaccines received FDA approval my hospital mandated COVID-19 vaccines for all employees. Exemption requests were due by September 21, 2021.

(Reuters) – Texas’ top court on Friday ruled that conservative activists suing the city of San Antonio over its decision to prevent Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant in an airport due to its support of anti-LGBTQ causes had failed to show the city was violating state law but could try again.
The Texas Supreme Court on a 9-0 vote reversed a lower court’s dismissal of the case to allow the activists to try to allege sufficient facts to show the city was violating a Texas law barring governments from taking “adverse” steps against companies based on their religious beliefs.
That statute is popularly known as the “Save Chick-fil-A law” and was signed into law by Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott in 2019 after San Antonio’s city council voted to exclude Chick-fil-A from an airport concession contact.
The activists’ lawyers include Jonathan Mitchell, one of the architects of the state’s novel law banning abortions after six weeks.
