Couple observations from D+5:
– Continuing the theme of the “pro-Putin/ Russian” or “anti-Ukraine/West” bias that has crept into the analysis/commentary, a bizarre theory is being promoted that basically says: “Putin’s strategy has been designed to minimize civilian casualties”.
– I am surprised by this “thinking” since, if for no other reason than it was obvious that from the beginning of the invasion, cluster ammunition has been falling on civilian objects such as apartment buildings, administration buildings, etc.
– Second, the reason the RU have not been going into the cities as of Monday morning (D+5) is due to their strategy, i.e. “dash to Kiev”.
– Third, the regions (front lines) where the conventional warfare is taking place, have no citizen journalists (like in the North sector) so we do not see this footage. Reminder, cell phones in the UK units is strictly VERBOTEN!.
– Where there is film, (Charkov) taken by residents in residential buildings, we clearly see indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas.
– But Monday, independent analysts have observed a change in strategy, i.e. return to conventional Soviet/Russian military doctrine in the north sector.
– What needs to be remembered is that the Soviet/Russian Army is an army of artillery. Conventional doctrine maintains that you first bomb the shit out of your target with artillery/air and then you go in and finish off your opponent with tanks followed by infantry.
– What has been seen in D1 to D4 of the invasion is a strategy used by Soviet forces in Afganistan, known as Battalion Tactical Groups (BTG’s).
– What this entailed is convoys of Tank Battalions with their supporting elements racing through the Ukrainian steppe trying to reach Kiev in a couple of days.
– This motorized “shock and awe” was thought to destabilize the Ukrainian Army to the point of it disintegrating.
– What the Soviets/Russians didn’t anticipate was the “reaction” i.e. preparation of the Ukrainian Army in the field.
– This is where the Polish analysis/theory of heavy US Mil Advisors and Special Operations types organizing the military to meticulously carry-out a brilliant defense operation that caught the Soviet/Russians by surprise.
And as we are now observing in all sectors, the Soviet/Russian returned to their conventional military doctrine of BOMBING CIVILIAN POPULATIONS.
So the game plan now is for the RU is now to start bombing cities into submission (after which they take over government building, install allies who they declare independence of province, a la Donetsk and Lugansk)
On the UK side, the game plan is to take out as many RU forces and tanks as possible before the mass of Russian Army overruns them. Once overrun, these units transition into irregular forces and conduct guerilla operations.

There are a lot of aspects of this that don’t make a lot of sense… there is some sort of logical disconnect that appears to go beyond stereotypical political ideologies. Pootie decides to invade and seems to think that Comrade Xi has his back. Xi Jianpoo kinda stands back and says ‘that’s unfortunate’ as Russia appears to flounder on the ground and while the rest of the world cuts Pootie off from his money.
