I just don’t understand the argument that Putin was nuke Ukraine. Why destroy and make uninhabitable land he is fighting to acquire?
He’s not going to nuke the Ukraine. He gave them a few days to think things over. I understand the next negotiations round is in a few days. It will be located on the border of Poland and Belarus.
Those timelines lead me to expect we are looking at a siege of the Ukraine. The key cities are surrounded. Time is not on the side of the Ukrainians. Everyone knows this. The various countries will not commit soldiers to fight the Russians. All Putin needs to do is run out the clock.
The citizens within the encircled cities will play the next card. If they work together, Putin won’t get the opportunity to be magnanimous. If the citizens start fighting amongst themselves, global opinion will shift towards Putin.
Putin can still end up stronger than before.
There are two motivators for human behavior;
Love and Fear.
The enemy uses fear, because it is the only one it experiences, and so truly understands, and cause its EASIER.
To motivate peoples to go to war, you can use fear, if they feel attacked; 9/11 or Pearl Harbor.
Or, you USE Love of Country, Patriotism to motivate both soldiers, and the people to “support the War”.
They have blithely, eagerly shredded their credibility, for 5 years. And now they are trying to use propoganda, drawing on sympathy and empathy for the Ukranians (Love), Patriotism (it will come, just wait) and ultimately they WILL resort to Fear (just wait).
I also simply don’t think its going to work. I won’t support “going to war” unless armed men are approachinh me and mine, bent on doing harm.
And sad to say, in that event it is FAR more likely that those men will be U.S. Gov troops, than Russian or Chinese.
I think this is a vulnerability we can exploit; their inability to feel empathy, or even realise when they are clearly displaying a lack of empathy.

We are being LIED to about the “failure” of the Russian advance … and the level of resistance. Flat out, bald faced lies … by the direct evidence and images of the propagandists. It makes much more sense that the Russians OWN the skies, as claimed by this expat. Hence their 40 mile long convoy goes unmolested.

The continued buying of Russian oil ought to be a glaring inconsistency for Putin.
The whole world knows the US can be energy independent. If Biden wanted to hurt Russia, he would stop buying Russian oil. As it is, Biden is financing the country he is provoking.
I am not sure what to make of this. I am becoming more convinced that the elites & media are not sane. It’s like they really believe their own BS. The US was going after terrorist threats in the places you mention and did not seek to make them part of the US.
Russia is now in the process of their third (Georgia, Ukraine twice) invasion for the purpose of annexing land back into their country. As with Saddam seizing Kuwait, it is land seizure invasions that are against the rules. So, not a double standard.
