During her prepared remarks today, a very happy Canadian Finance Minister declared that federal law enforcement (RCMP) has begun working with financial institutions to de-bank Canadian citizens, cancel insurance policies, remove access to credit cards, cancel mortgages and freeze the assets of Canadian citizens. When you watch the segment highlighted below, keep in mind the RCMP is the Canadian equivalent of the FBI.
When asked specifically about Canadian citizens who donated to crowdfunding platforms GiveSendGo and GoFundMe, and whether those people will be targeted under the Emergency Act, Minister Freeland giddily affirmed those people are the actual targets, and the de-banking of those individuals is underway. This includes the seizure of digital currency and crypto-wallets.
In the earlier part of her remarks, Freeland noted that social media posts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) are being used as evidence against the targeted names identified within the donor lists. Here in the US we have a Constitutional protection and years of jurisprudence disallowing the imposition of ex post facto laws. I do not know the law in Canada. I would hope that their Charter gives them freedom from such. It is patently unfair and unjust to arrest someone, seize their bank account, seize their home, and destroy their business because they did a legal act in the past that is now “declared by the dictator” to be a crime. Remember, Parliament has not approved this. It is a diktat of the Stalinist Soviet variety.

IT should be noted that Bitcoin was already successfully used to transfer funds. And they can’t stop it nor can they seize it if you hold the keys. There’s widely misreported statement about “seizing” wallets because this is literally impossible when it’s your own wallet. The most they have only done is blacklist certain addresses from trading on Canadian exchanges. That’s it. But they haven’t confiscated any not on Canadian exchanges.

The biggest misconception and misunderstanding I see amongst non-crypto users and naive crypto users is reliance on exchanges and third parties, treating crypto like stocks or bank accounts. When you hold the private keys, there are no “accounts”. In fact there’s a certain amount that is lost forever, due to lost keys. These are not confiscatable by anyone nor any government either (in fact it’s all there on the blockchain from the beginning, from the first mined by Satoshi if anyone wants to try “seizing” any bitcoin).
In fact good a security practice is for every user to create new wallet addresses for every transaction. Again, these are not controlled by third parties, these are wallets that a user creates himself held by himself. This is the big mistake naive and non-crypto users make — conflating wallet addresses with “accounts”. You can and should create new public addresses every single transaction and you should never keep funds held on online third party wallets (accounts)
The funds that have been transferred in Bitcoin via Tallycoin were successful and still SAFE because those were transferred peer-to-peer and NO accounts were created , nor emails needed, or needed to rely on other third parties. This is why they cannot identify who the donors were using Bitcoin and they didn’t face the same problems with hacked donor lists like GiveSendGo did.
The bitcoin fundraising already anticipated becoming Enemy of the State BEFORE the announcement, which is first, how they were able to successfully transfer the funds (again, peer-to-peer and NO third parties) without anything confiscated and they have already taken steps to increase security

In a multi-signature wallet, you need multiple people who can sign the transaction in order to spend and thus “seize” it and they already transferred split the keys to hidden identities. And again, this is all user-generated and not third party controlled.

Only Nobody Caribou and BJdichter (one of the truckers) are privy to who holds keys. Myself, Greg, and Jeff Booth no longer hold keys, as we were previously points of failure.
First, that was referring to an update on or before Feb 13, regarding the lump sum nearly $1 million USD worth of BTC transferred over to them. The two people mentioned “Nobody Caribou and BJdichter” were NOT the key holders themselves, but rather, people who knew who those undisclosed key holders were. They could’ve split it 3 ways, requiring 2 out of 3 keys to use those initial donated bitcoin funds. Or maybe 3 out of 5, etc. Then transferred part of it out to different wallet addresses later, etc. But in any case, by Feb 17, they’ve already distributed more than half of the funds directly out to truckers.
