It’s only a matter of time before these companies run out of “immunities” and are required to be recognized as the publishers that they actually are. Even they do not pay for their content, they do exercise editorial control. Yet, even now, they want to play both ends against the middle – to have their cake while also eating it – to enjoy the best of both worlds.
I have never understood why Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, et al have become so fantastically popular … and, rich. I do not understand why people waste so many hours of their day on such pointless pursuits. Maybe it just feels good to talk when no one is actually listening, in a forum where the owners won’t allow you to speak freely after all.

People waste their time on facebook, instagram, twitter, et al, simply due to the fact that they are lacking in conversational skills, have no idea of how to successfully interact with other people…
They just need to “get a life”…
They used psychological research (just as video game companies do) in their formation.
Dopamine is called “the reward brain chemical” because it gives us “good feelings” when its released.
The whole concept of “reward and punishment” as a teaching method, for animals or humans stems from the way our bodies work.
We touch a hot stove, we get PAIN (punishment) that teaches us, over time and with repetition, NOT to do that.
When we do something beneficial, our brain releases a “dose” of Dopamine, which causes pleasurable feelings.
Going to the bathroom;before we feel pressure and discomfort, after we get a shot.
Eating; before we feel “hunger pains” (punishment) after, we feel pleasure (Dopamine shot).
Petting a dog or cat, cause both the human, and the animal to get a shot of dopamine.
You know that “feeling of accomplishment” we get, from achieving some difficult goal, or solving a problem? THATS a surge of Dopamine, often with a shot of adrenaline or oxytocin, combined into a reward “cocktail”.
Whats this have to do with the web? WHY do websites, even here on CTH have “like” buttons, but not “dislike” buttons?
Because research shows both the poster, AND the person who clicks the “like” button, get a shot of Dopamine.
Addictive drugs actually ‘work’ by ‘artificially’ triggering a massive release of Dopamine, that few ‘natural’ activities could produce. And, of coarse it can be repeated, over and over. Requires little effort, unlike most ‘natural’ ways to trigger more modest releases.
Unfortunately for the addict, such abnormally high levels, repeated over time, cause the body to adjust, by reducing the # of receptors TO these chemicals, as a responce.
Hence, larger doses of the external stimulant (drug) are needed, in order to get the same amount of release. The concept of “new normal”.
In short, they DESIGN video games, and “Social” internet sites, to BE addictive.
And just as non addicts have great difficulty understanding the behavior of drug addicts, those not “into” sites like facebook etc. can not understand the appeal.
OK – there are things about Facebook that irritate me as well. But it’s not all a wasteland. Fwiw, I’ll tell you why I and many of my friends like Facebook and spend time there. Not everything on FB is about talking politics or covid. For one thing, I have lived in a number of areas of the US, and have a lot of dear friends locally, across the country and around the world. I lost touch with a lot of good friends in the pre-internet days, when it was hard to keep in touch with people by snail mail who moved a lot, or got married and changed their names.
Facebook has been a way to reconnect with friends and family from all over, and from many eras of my life, that I never thought I would be in touch with again, and that part has been really fun and satisfying. I am closer to many of my out of state relatives than I would be otherwise. I have also taken part in a number of class and college reunions that happened only because we rediscovered enough of us on Facebook to make it happen.
Also, many of my friends are believers, or at least believer-friendly, and when I’ve had a family or health crisis, it’s been great to be able to post a prayer request, and get real sincere prayers and support from so many people I know and love, and who care about me. I’ve also enjoyed seeing photos of friends and family that live too far to see often. It’s great to be able to track with the big and small changes in their lives, and watch their kids grow up. It’s nice to not only see the big milestones there, but also the funny, everyday stuff that keeps you bonded.
I also worked long distance as a writer for 10 years when I moved back to Ohio. Many of my co-workers were on Facebook, and we stayed connected that way. When I would fly in occasionally for a work event or a visit, it was easier to reconnect with everyone because we were all caught up on each other’s lives — I didn’t have to start from several years ago on what I was doing.
And during the pandemic lockdowns, it was a great way to stay in touch with people. My church livestreams there, and I am connected with many of my congregation online. Also, my father lives in a veterans home out of state, and although I talk with him by phone weekly and do some video chatting, I appreciate that they have a Facebook page and post photos of the residents enjoying activities. It’s great to see my dad’s photo there a lot, and to be able to track with him by phone about something fun that I saw him doing.
Just saying, that is what keeps a lot of us on Facebook, despite the censoring and political unfriending and such. I have learned to scroll by the stuff that I don’t want to deal with, and focus on the important stuff in my relationships. It’s a good communication tool if you know how to use it right.

NATO is an idea that wasn’t very good when it was first started, and which is utterly useless today … except that it buys a lot of military equipment from contractors who exist only to feed it. The Government of Ukraine, in particular, fairly recently threw out a lot of the “bottom feeders” within their own ranks, along with people like Hunter Biden. Still, there are plenty of people in the halls of US Government who still regard the country as nothing more than their personal pig-trough.
Maybe Joe should offer to make Russia a member of NATO and cut out the middleman. It would save Russia a lot on bribes and spies.

What makes me most angry about all of this is that “lawmaking is never supposed to be a Judicial nor an Executive function.” Yet, in 1973, seven old men manufactured an entire system of law out of whole cloth, blaming it on about seven words extracted from an already poorly-written 14th Amendment. And, Legislatures and Congress were delighted to let them do it, because it let them side-step some ugly and contentious debates about an obviously-polarizing topic. They were “off the hook,” or so they thought.
I think that Courts at every level should be “kicking the can” back to where it belongs: the State Legislatures, and maybe the Congress. “The 14th Amendment does not say, and it never did.” Somehow require them to take up the matter and to produce brand-new law no later than by the end of their next session.
The Supreme Court should never have “decided” this matter back then, and it should IMHO refuse to “(re-)decide it” now. This is the Legislatures’ job, and they shall be compelled to do it. And, if the public thinks that it should be a Constitutional Amendment, put that process in motion now. You don’t get to evade your responsibility any longer. It’s entirely a legitimate judgment for a Court to declare that the relevant body of law does not yet exist – and to require that it be made.
IMHO, STATE Governors and Legislatures have long shirked their Constitutional responsibilities, and I don’t just mean regarding elections.
17th amendment was what triggered it, when State legislatures no longer selected our Federal Senators.
After that, the FEDERAL govt began taking lots of responsibilitu and authority (POWER) and the State governments passively aquiesed.
FDA, IRS, Education dept.and many other power grabs by the Federal government followed.
IF the States said “NO”, and challenged Federal dictates in court, the States WOULD prevail.
But, ONLY if the States challenge it, and they didn’t.
And no, in most cases it is NOT about withholding Federal funds, that is LARGELY a canard.

The States could, if they chose, disregard ALL Federal regulations regarding medications.

Another example; Federal immigration law establishes Federal “pre-emption” which IS Constitutional, as can’t have 50 States each having their own immigration laws.

Point being, ANY State Legislature could write, and Governor sign, legislation that establishes a self funded (thru fines) dept of state revenue, that enforces a TAX provision; any company found employing someone not legally authorised to work (as confirmed by e-verify) is fined, and at risk of having any State licences, including “priviledge tax licence” revoked.
Make it self funding, in order to avoid a future legislature shutting it down by choking off funding.
ANY State government COULD have enacted such a law, at any time in the last 50 years.
Without employment, the vast majority of illegals wouldn’t come, and this is true for many previous “waves” of immigrants.

Mid-terms in 22, with 1/3 of senators, and the whole house up for grabs. We elect another 1/3 senate and whole house in 2024. I think I read that a couple of states like Cali and NY are losing some house seats and they are redistributed to like Texas, FL and somewhere else, which could be good.

A LOT can happen in that time frame because things are going bad, quickly. Visiting my mom who has the TV on 24/7, I have to watch it. I don’t have cable so I miss all this. During every commercial, pretty much on any channel, the vaccine is being pushed. It is disgusting.

The most disturbing one was where about 5 children say in the first half of the commercial that they are not getting the vaccine. In the second half of the commercial they all say things like “but I want to travel” so I will get it. “But I want to play in the band” so I will get it. “But I want to be able to do all kinds of things” so I will get it. Not one says they will get it so they don’t get sick and are protected from disease.
These children are learning, and teaching other children, that freedom comes from doing what the government says you must do. That’s not freedom.
At some point, do you think there is a free ice cream effect of all this propaganda on the still brainwashed? Like, you can eat free ice cream when you get the dairy stand job and by the second week you have eaten so much that just looking at ice cream makes you kind of nauseous so you stop?

Ok, a couple of observations from an airline professional:
1) This BLM pax (passenger) appears to be a paid actor (I realize I’m repeating myself),
2) The man in the hat I’m guessing to be a FAM (Federal Air Marshalls), they do not dress that way, nor do they wear hats, and they never show themselves,
3) The man in the hat and vest might be an off-duty/commuting cabin crewmember (could not be on duty wearing a white supremist cammo hat). However, he would not be taking the lead with tough cuffs, that would be only for the on-duty crewmember (the guy standing far back). He also would not be putting his hands all over any pax without a cadre of ABP’s (Able Bodied Pax) nearby (as we’ve seen in other videos.
4) If the calm and rational black man was being effective, then he should remain the primary POC (point of contact) with the disturbed pax with on-duty crew watching.

What stands out about this group, and where one could come to the conclusion that this really is an FBI operation, is how polished and organized they are. First of all, their website is extremely professional, with well done graphics, professional photos, and even a cinematic video trailer. It’s almost too professional. Their social media posts are uniform, and look like they’re managed by a social media expert. Everything is color coordinated and themed — even their graffiti is done with stencils[!!!!!!].
