I live in NY as well. Many people who don’t live in here assume it’s one big communist state, but outside of NYC and a few upstate cities, NY is basically majority red. Here on Long Island, most of us hate the unelected Gov. Horseface.

Go into that grocery store or restaurant, and say no, I won’t wear a mask, and no, I won’t show you my papers. Let them throw you out. Go back the next day and do it again. Record it and post it. Refuse to back down. If enough of us are willing to lose these little momentary battles, and record them, we will win the war in the end. In any event, that’s what I will be doing.

Where I live in NYS we have not been wearing masks. I went to the Vet Thursday with my dog. The vet and her employees were wearing masks but we did not. Noone said a thing to us. In the grocery store most are not wearing masks and the business doesn’t ask or harass you about it. Life was too normal so this awful _itch decided she needed to put pressure on the businesses. I am wondering how many will ignore her and how many will comply. Luckily I live close to the PA line so I will go grocery shopping there if need be.
This the big question, who will comply? She saw the writing on the wall and knew that a vaccine mandate would not stand up on a legal basis, so this was her attempt to get around that, and coerce business owners to do the dirty work for her. I and many others I have talked to will not comply, and we will put our own pressure on business owners also not to comply. It’s a shame they have been put in the middle, but this is how communists work.

Have you seen the crowds at college and high school basketball games? My wife and I have been to several games over the past few weeks, no masks, no distancing, and NO COVID. I have been to Kentucky basketball games. Masks are required in the arena. Everyone has one or you don’t get into the arena. About 20% are actually used past the metal detector.
There is another problem, also blamed on Covid. The games are poorly attended even though they are near sell outs. There are sometimes 10,000 empty seats. People are just not using their season tickets and some people think it is fear of Covid. I think it is due to UK switching to 100% mobile ticketing on the phone making it much harder to transfer your ticket. Used to be you could just hand off your paper ticket at the last minute and say “Here, go to the game. I can’t.” Now you have to go through the UK ticketing web site and the recipient has to have an account with TicketMaster. They did end scalping which eliminated a lot of used seats as well. The vendors are screaming. People in seats buy sodas, beer, popcorn and ice cream.

Several decades ago, my older sister and her husband lived in the then-lovely San Francisco Bay area–he being a highly paid, white-collar professional in San Francisco. They had friends of similar income levels and general loveliness.
One of the couples they were friends with–the husband had been a POW in North Korea back when the “Korean War” was young.
He appreciated the opportunity to share POW stories at social occasions, one of his favorite being his description of what the American POWs would do–with pre-arrangement.
At a given time on a given day as they were having their 30 minutes of allowed “exercise time” in the open prison yard, at a pre-arranged signal, all of them throughout the large open area would slow their walking, look thoughtful, and begin to all eagerly look skyward.
…..Begin with a focus over there and then simultaneously swivel their necks and all begin looking now over there.…drove the ignorant Korean guards bananas. They were fairly easily convinced the American prisoners knew something they didn’t know and it scared them silly.

My county is not one of them – yet. Our newly elected Sheriff has said he will not enforce mandates. So there’s that.

Problem in states like NY, CA, , WA and Ore is that the legislatures rubber stamp these decrease with votes to extend authority. That put legal barriers in place consistent with the 1905 Jacobson Precedent, which must be overcome.
Still waiting for Republican Run legislatures in states with a demo-fascist governors to sue…of note and for reference is that the republican legislature in Florida did not fully support Governor Desantis.

All the talk is about masks , but in reality this is a backdoor vax mandate. It starts as if your vax your home free, if not wear a mask.
