Happy Anniversary.

Yes, can you believe it’s been a year since Treehouse 2.0 was launched after WordPress/Automattic kicked us off their platform for being too successful.  What a ride… Hey, whatever it takes!

As we pass the first anniversary of CTH 2.0, we are also resyncing the optimized site to new expanded and higher performance servers today.  Most of the files have been migrated and tested, however we need a final resync to finish the process.

As the site is resynced to the upgraded server container, there may be a few minutes, possibly hours, where the site is unavailable.  We will be pointing the DNS (Domain Name System) to the new server container and it can take a while to repopulate the address to the new destination throughout the global web.

Once the upgrade is successful, we should no longer have to worry about site capacity overload crashing the site, as the new server container is designed to expand almost to infinity with more performance as needed.

As you are aware, the stress on our server network is large due to the consistently high number of simultaneous users in the Treehouse branches every hour of the day.  The new server bank doubles the current performance functions per second and has the ability to expand/auto-scale even with extreme spikes in ajax calls from the private  comment system.

Unfortunately, because of the size of the CTH files, the scale of the resync and the fact we operate a simultaneous proprietary comment system, we can only do this during business hours when the most experienced and tenured tech teams are available in the event the resync hits a snag.

Hopefully, the switch will be seamless to you and only take a few minutes for the DNS pointers to repopulate.  Fingers crossed.

Love to all,

~ Sundance
