Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

“The blacker the night around us grew, the brighter and truer and more beautiful burned the WORD OF GOD.”
Corrie ten Boom
Fancy finding you here !
? Its a wonderful place to start the day! See my reply below.
Mungrel, see this particular thread from yesterday. Frank started the most amazing conversation which I know you’d appreciate. It is well worth reading.
Love Corrie ten Boom…???
I always wished to be a Betsy, but it isn’t to be! Some of us need to be a Corrie…
? She is a thoughtful wordsmith, I agree. God inspired without question.

Thinking of “today”, thinking of “now”:
2 Cor. 6:2 (cf. Isaiah 49:8)
“For He says: “In the acceptable time I listened to you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the time of favor; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Isaiah 55:6-7
“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Hebrews 3:15a (cf. Psalms 95:7-8)
“As it has been said: “If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts…”
Revelation 22:17 (cf. Isaiah 55:1)
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.”
—
Thinking of why:
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 5:24
“Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.”
—
Thinking of how:
Luke 18:13
“And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’”
James 4:8a
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
John 6:28-29
“Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.””
Mark 9:24b
“‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.'”
Acts 16:30-31
“Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.””
That’s beautiful.
Thanks! Never heard him before!

LOVE DIVINE, ALL LOVES EXCELLING
The text of this hymn was composed by prolific hymnist Charles Wesley (1707 – 88). Charles along with his brother, John, were early leaders in the Methodist movement.
This much-loved hymn, like many of Wesley’s others, has found its way into almost every denomination’s hymnbook. Hymnary.org says it has been published, with various tune settings, in 1732 (!) hymnals. I remember it (with a different tune) from when I went to the Presbyterian church growing up, and it is in my Lutheran hymnbook now, with this tune.
Of the tune, Hymnary.org says: “One of the most loved Welsh tunes, Hyfrydol was composed by Rowland Hugh Prichard (b. Graienyn, near Bala, Merionetshire, Wales, 1811; d. Holywell, Flintshire, Wales, 1887) in 1830 when he was only nineteen. It was published with about forty of his other tunes in his children’s hymnal…”
This recording is by the virtual choir of the Riverside Church in New York City. I don’t know much about vocal music, but I’d say everyone in this ensemble is pulling their weight.

Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven to earth come down!
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling, all Thy faithful mercies crown.
Jesus, Thou art all compassion, pure unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation, enter every trembling heart.
Breathe, O breathe Thy loving spirit into every troubled breast;
Let us all in Thee inherit; let us find Thy promised rest.
Take away the love of sinning; Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith as its beginning, set our hearts at liberty.
Come, Almighty, to deliver; let us all Thy life receive;
Suddenly return, and never, never more Thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing, serve Thee as Thy hosts above,
Pray and praise Thee without ceasing, glory in Thy perfect love.
Finish then Thy new creation, pure and spotless let us be;
Let us see Thy great salvation perfectly restored in Thee,
Changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before Thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise!
Just gorgeous and calming. Thank you, 1530.

The Four Seasons‘ “Big Girls Don’t Cry” reaches the top spot on the Billboard singles chart, just as their first hit, “Sherry” did earlier in the year. Songwriter Bob Crewe later said that he was inspired to write the song after he heard actor John Payne use the phase “big girls don’t cry” in a 1956 movie called Slightly Scarlet.

Dick Stark was a master salesman. This is him in a 1957 motivational film made for Buick dealers. See if you don’t find the voice and mannerisms almost mesmerizing.
Grrrreat salesman ……. confident, knowledgeable, positive!
Except for actual teams of horses, I’ve driven only Buicks all these years. Funny how that turned out to happen.
We’ve had many cars over the years. And my British husband in his youth was quite the expert in buying, renovating and selling old cars there, including Jaguar, MGB, Austin 7, etc.
But out latest and probably last car is a Buick. Many we owned were high end ones, but we’ve never loved or appreciated a make more than Buick. Ours is now 4 years old and I wouldn’t trade it in for the world.
Enjoyed reading this – thanks.
One thing about a Buick is that I can fit comfortably behind the wheel to stretch out my legs and not hit my head on the ceiling.
People tell me I look like I am sitting in the back seat when I drive.
Great video. I have a funny anecdote to share about a Buick.
My father once tried a GM vehicle when he bought a 1956 Buick Special with a big V8 engine and their much-ballyhooed Dynaflow transmission. Previously he had been driving 6 cylinder vehicles of significantly less weight. He had to drive a lot for his job and the company reimbursed employees ‘mileage expense instead of providing company cars. Up. to the Buick, he calculated that his actual costs usually were less than the mileage reimbursement so…. he realized some small extra income each month.
The Buick changed all that. It got a steady 8 mpg regardless of how easy or hard one drove it. My father drove very conservatively and was never a speed demon. Coming from a 1954 Dodge Meadowbrook 3 speed standard shift (clutch) that got about 16 to 18mpg, it was a big change.
Then he had a nagging problem with the power steering. If he turned the wheel all the way to the right, the steering did not return to center, it stayed all the way over until the driver forcefully turned it back to the left to return the wheels to center. Three times he took it to the dealer to get it fixed and all three times they said they couldn’t find a problem. When he was there to pick up the car from the third visit, he invited the service manager to ride with him.
They got out on the road and my dad drove the man over to a nearby large parking lot that was mostly vacant. Dad said he turned the steering wheel hard over to the right, let go of the steering wheel, and pushed hard on the accelerator. The service manager immediately got upset. Dad said the car just roared around a circle with tires squealing. After about 2 complete circles, the manager yelled “OK Mr. (name) I believe you! We will get it fixed!”
The steering mechanism was replaced the next day. About a year later Dad finally got 100% tired of the gas hog and traded it in on a 1960 Ford Falcon with its smallest 6 cyl engine. Dad never again bought a GM car nor a V8 engine.
My earliest recollection about Buick was overhearing a grownup say “It’s a gas guzzler.”
Wasn’t sure what that meant but I could tell it wasn’t a compliment ?
Thanks for sharing your story.

I bet Dick Stark could’ve sold ice to Eskimos.
My dads theory was that the Dynaflow design allowed a lot of energy to be used in the form of slippage and heat. It was a very smooth automatic that shifted very imperceptibly if you weren’t standing on the accelerator. Yet the vehicle was relatively heavy among its competitors. In retrospect, I think my lawyer-trained father who had no engineering background had probably correctly diagnosed where the fuel mileage was being consumed.
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.
Amen ?
The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner.
Prayer of Saint Ioannikios the Great of Bithynia (+ 846)
My hope is the Father, my refuge the Son, my protection the Holy Spirit. O Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.
Saint Ioannikios the Great of Bithynia (+ 846) was a shepherd as a youth, served in the army, then became a monk. He lived the ascetic life in various places until his repose in the Lord at age 94.
He took an active part in the destiny of God’s Church, for, during the iconoclast period he was at first deluded, but then tore himself away and was an ardent defender of reverence towards the Holy Icons. He was a great wonderworker during his earthly lifetime and after his repose.
Saint Ioannikios the Great is among the Saints and Holy Martyrs who are commemorated today, November 4th on the Patristic Calendar of the Orthodox Christian Church or November 17th on the civil or commercial calendar.
The Trisagion Hymn
and the
50th Psalm (Septuagint)
THE ETERNAL GOAL
“By Myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing…that in blessing I will bless thee…” Genesis xxii. 15-19
Abraham has reached the place where he is in touch with the very nature of God, he understands now the Reality of God.
“My goal is God Himself…
At any cost, dear Lord, by and road.”
“At any cost, by any road” means nothing self-chosen in the way God brings us to the goal.
There is no possibility of questioning when God speaks if He speaks to His own nature in me; prompt obedience is the only result. When Jesus says – “Come,” I simply come; when He says – “Let go,” I let go; when He says – “Trust in God in this matter,” I do trust. The whole working out is the evidence that the nature of God is in me.
God’s revelation of Himself to me is determined by my character, not by God’s character.
“‘Tis because I am mean,
Thy ways so oft look mean to me.”
By the discipline of obedience I get to the place where Abraham was and I see Who God is. I never have a real God until have come face to face with Him in Jesus Christ, then I know that “in all the world, my God, there is none but Thee, there is none but Thee.”
The promises of God are of no value to us until by obedience we understand the nature of God. We read some things in the Bible three hundred and sixty-five times and they mean nothing to us, then all of a sudden we see what God means, because in some particular we have obeyed God, and instantly His nature is opened up. “All the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen.” The “yea” must be born of obedience; when by the obedience of our lives we say “Amen” to a promise, then that promise is ours.

From the outside we marvel at faith that shaped great men but, when you finally have a relationship with God to the point that you just trust everything he tells you you understand it is the opposite of what we do now as egocentric souls.
It’s much easier to follow our lord and much more profitable IF you know him.
This article addresses how man has usurped God.
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2021/11/a_word_about_democracy_from_a_man_brought_up_in_a_dictatorship.html
The title and the first part don’t seem to be about that, but further on in the article the author states:
“Liberalism promotes extremism in its atomized individualism and disgusts conservatives with its tolerance, amorphousness and omnivorousness. A characteristic feature of liberalism as it is seen today is that it seeks to create a society in which man, not God, not the earthly ruler, not the hegemonic class, is the highest value.”
I thought it was worth the time to read and contemplate.
To Frank Field :
I’m not much of a wordsmith I hope you understand.
I do not know if you read my reply? So if you read this I would like you to know my appreciation for your thoughts and prayers.
I believe in truth so as negative as my words might sound hold solice in the fact some of us have been forced to fight this last Battle .
I feel privileged that Satan wants to take mungrel on.
The heathans are abound but we strike when we can.
I do not normally speak faith as I consider it a personal matter , if you knew my background you would understand why, so with full sincerity I simply say , God Bless.
Joining you mungrel in your gratitude for Frank Field and blessings for him and all.
Frank’s contributions are a most wonderful gift. He keeps us grounded. No small feat given where we are today, and I’m grateful for everything he posts.
So beautiful Mungrel. Satan has taken us all on and is not finding our resistance to his taste. This much is evident by watching millions standing athwart.
I know your background because you have been forthright and honest in your posts. And so I know why. But He is your Companion in the battle of the ages which we are all in. He has done well to recruit you. There is no doubting your fortitude and commitment. He has a good soldier by His side. And you are serving a most loving and forgiving Master.
You are where He placed you, and you are a wonderful servant for His purposes. As I believe without doubt was intended. God Bless you, my dear friend.
I have decided to post my list , I am cross referenceing the connections, I know you understand why and that means a lot to me .
And by the way what do ya think ya doing slackening off feeding hubby !
Ha!! He’s fed…and watered. All is well.
I do understand. I truly do. My hope is that you are not out in the open so to speak.
Don’t leave us on this battlefield alone. I have no words for my admiration of your diligence and righteous endeavours. If not you, then who? This is an humanitarian work of enormous consequence. A cleaning out of the Augean stables. Who knows how many tens of thousands of young vulnerable abused voices are crying out for justice and accountabilty. The numbers may never be known.
My prayers are always with you, but never more so than now. God go with you now and always.?
Amen
Simple, poignant post!!! You have company and you do not stand alone! I wrote a piece some years ago about those of us left, have become the ‘winter soldiers’…and I’m watching it happen. God is Faithful and True…to the VERY END! I’m watching to see what He will do…
Peace and Blessings to you today, Mungrel! ?
Winter soldiers has a poignant feel to it. No more so than now. And I’m with you on keeping watch. This is His battle. He is in charge. “Thy will be done.”
It was an excellent one, Flyover. So much said, so heartfelt.
mungrel,
I did last week when you read that poem you inspired.
Thanks ? Glad you’re here!

Ok! You want to understand the supply chain issues and how it relates to trucking? Watch this interview with the cofounder of Covenant Transport. A man of faith. This is the best and most comprehensive explanation I have found from a man who has been very successful in the business. As you listen remember this fact. Fuel cost is the largest operating expense for trucking companies.
That was a great nuts n bolts vid. I watched all but the last 3 minutes.
Thanks man!
Your welcome. Do what I can from the road. Now it’s time to heat up some Dinty Moore Beef stew for dinner.
Tomorrow I start one more round of this Newaygo, Muskegon, Port City, Holland milk run in Michigan. By late Friday night I will sleep in my own bed for the first time since Saturday.
Listened to the whole thing. Wow. We have been so screwed. Getting manufacturing for all products needed by the USA back into the USA is now more important than ever. Along with getting back to energy independence. Whatever gubmint at any level touches turns to sh!t.

Here it comes! Germany is going to lock down the unvaccinated. Austria and Germany. Ring a bell?
Germany is also discussing forcing the unvaccinated to get the shots. I mean the police actually holding people down so they can be injected against their will.

For those rightfully concerned about the FBI monitoring parents at school board meetings. A lot of parents in N VA are FBI agents. They’ll be watching themselves.
A band from the 70’s who are in their 70’s.
Massive problems in B.C., Canada from flooding the past few days. Rail Lines and Roads washed out fr/ landslides, etc. No food or supplies getting in to affected communities, water down, people who were travelling during the flood are trapped wherever they’re trapped, etc etc.
It feels like .gov really let its’ guard down on this one. and dragged its’ feet.
W. Wash. has some problems too, but – acc’dg. to friends who live there, anyway- not nearly as bad. ie. Highways were shut down early in anticipation of landslides, etc.
Today, Day 3, they finally got out to update people on what they’re doing.
I think it may be time we re-acquaint ourselves with the songs, anthems and ballads that sustained our ancestors in the terrible trials of their day. Life was not so very easy for them, and things like shared melodies also conveyed the struggle shared.
Just my humble thought.
These lyrics to the song called “Free America” were from the soundtrack of the movie, “The Patriot” from 2000.
I had never come across these words before and they are like a long-lost treasure you never knew you had.
May the LORD restore in us this spirit for Such A Time As This.
“That seat of science Athens,
And earth’s proud mistress, Rome,
Where now are all their glories
We scarce can find a tomb.
Then guard your rights, Americans,
Nor stoop to lawless sway,
Oppose, oppose, oppose, oppose
For North America.
Proud Albion bow’d to Caesar,
And numerous lords before,
To Picts, to Danes, to Normans,
And many masters more;
But we can boast Americans
Have never fall’n a prey,
Huzza, huzza, huzza, huzza
For Free America.
We led fair Freedom hither,
And lo, the desert smiled,
A paradise of pleasure
New opened in the wild;
Your harvest, bold Americans,
No power shall snatch away,
Preserve, preserve, preserve your rights
In Free America.
Torn from a world of tyrants
Beneath this western sky
We formed a new dominion,
A land of liberty;
The world shall own we’re freemen here,
And such will ever be,
Huzza, huzza, huzza, huzza
For love and liberty.
God bless this maiden climate,
And through her vast domain
May hosts of heroes cluster
That scorn to wear a chain.
And blast the venal sycophants
Who dare our rights betray;
Assert yourselves, yourselves, yourselves
For brave America,
Lift up your hearts, my heroes,
And swear with proud disdain,
The wretch that would ensnare you
Shall spread his net in vain;
Should Europe empty all her force,
We’d meet them in array,
And shout huzza, huzza, huzza
For brave America.
The land where freedom reigns shall still
Be masters of the main,
In giving laws and freedom
To subject France and Spain;
And all the isles o’er ocean spread
Shall tremble and obey,
The prince who rules by Freedom’s laws
In North America.
lilbirdee12’s prayer:
Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.
Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.
Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and his family as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace.
Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall.
Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.
We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.
Thank you Father, for Your Love and the gift of Life.
In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
Amen ?
Amen.

Amen.
Amen.
Amen.
We have a California king bed.
I’m taking a nap.
With me are the two boys, a golden doodle and a mini golden labradoodle.
They about 35 pounds each. They’re stretched out on the other side of the
bed.
Next my shoulder, lays the cat.
“Hey!” I say. “You’re hogging my side of the bed.
Cats says “Too bad. I’m the CAT.”
I go on, “You waltz around the house acting like you own
the place, expecting us to wait on you hand and foot!”
Cat says “That’s right. I’m the CAT!”
I begin to say “And another thing…”
Cat looks up at me and says “One more word
out of you Bub, and you can catch your own dang mice. I’M THE CAT!”
My friend told me today that she hadn’t been able to put the clean sheets on her bed. I asked her why not and she said the cat was still asleep on it.
