Of all the extreme measures carried out by various states in Australia, the collections and confiscations by the State Penalty and Enforcement Register (SPER) might just be the icing on the cake.
During the lengthy COVID lockdown in the state of Queensland, Australia (Brisbane area), most workers were not permitted to work or earn a living.
Several states stepped in to provide wage subsidies so people could purchase essential products and pay their living expenses. However, during the lockdown if you were caught violating any of the lockdown rules, you were subject to a civil citation, a fine or ticket for your COVID violation.
Get caught too far from home, outside your permitted bubble, and you get a ticket. Get caught spending more than the permitted 1 hour outside, get a ticket. Get caught without a mask, even by yourself – and yep, ticket. Enter a closed quarantine zone (park, venue, etc.) and you get a ticket. Tickets were being handed out by police on the street as well as during random checkpoints on the roadways.
Additionally, people returning to Queensland were put into a system of involuntary quarantine. The costs for that quarantine, mostly hotel rooms, were to be paid by the people being involuntarily captive and not allowed home.
Citizens were required to have their physical location scanned via a QR code on their phone. These checkpoints were to assist in controlling the COVID spread and were used for contact tracing throughout the past two years. However, the checkpoints and gateway compliance scans also registered your physical location; the consequence was an increased ability for police and COVID compliance officers to catch people violating the COVID rules. Ex: If you checked in at the grocery store, they knew how far from home you are, and the police could figure out if you violated your one hour of time outside the home at the next checkpoint.
The result of all this compliance monitoring was thousands of fines, civil citations for violating COVID rules. Thousands of people given thousands of fines that would need to be paid.
Now the state is requiring all of those civil citations get paid, or else. And the enforcement actions to collect these fines from the State Penalty and Enforcement Register are quite extreme. Citizens who have outstanding tickets are finding their driver’s licenses suspended; bank accounts are being frozen and seized; homes and property are are being confiscated, as well as business licenses suspended for outstanding citations.

Brisbane Times – “SPER was undertaking “active enforcement” on another 18.4 per cent of fines, worth about $1 million, which a spokesman said “may include garnishing bank accounts or wages, registering charges over property, or suspending driver licences”. The remaining 25.2 per cent of fines were either under investigation or still open to payment without further action being taken.
Outside SPER’s work, Queensland Health took the unusual step of calling in private debt collectors to chase up $5.7 million amounting from 2045 significantly overdue invoices for hotel quarantine. (read more)

In my state and county, there are 380 OSP (2020 numbers) for the entire state of Oregon and under 30 deputies for a county of over 5000 square miles. To state law enforcement presence is slim to none isn’t overstating it.
In looking up a few stats I was shocked to see a report that one of the deputies died suddenly at home this week of an unexplained cardiac event. My first thought? Covid vaccination. He was in good health and had been with the department for nearly 20 years.
That brings up another wild card, the effects of vaccine mandates on the health of law enforcement in adverse action scenarios. The very bioweapon operation their chain of command is supporting could lead to their deaths through no action of others. That Capitol Police officer Sicknick comes to mind. Was he vaccinated?
The Aussie press won’t report such casualties among their police, count on it.
It needs to be emphasized that a gun without ammo is only a club. Stock up while the sale of ammo is still legal. The 2nd Amendment says nothing about ammo and if you think that the sale of ammo won’t be illegal in the not too distant future, you haven’t been paying attention.
Fill the ammo locker but also learn to reload, and especially stock up on primers, and other components needed to reload.

I grew to really respect and like Aussies from my time there and also the few Kiwis I got to know from my trips to NZ. I didn’t want to marry to emigrate to Oz and was too old otherwise since their rules are pretty strict. Could have easily hired on as a machinist, plenty of work.
I’m shocked by how sideways it’s gotten. Can’t imagine the Melbourne I spent so much time in being as it is now. Camping in the mountains in NSW, staying with friends on their farm in Victoria, exploring the Perth area and south coast. It’s a wonderful country. Sad. That’s what evil can do.
The good news on firearms there is apparently plenty still have them, and criminals don’t concern themselves with gun laws anyway. Something like 3M registered guns I think. I’m under the impression there are citizens with registered guns (mostly rifles). Obviously not in or near the big cities. There are regions just like here in the US where we have large cities that ban guns and outlier regions that still see guns as a way of life. The issue of drivers licenses being tied to covid compliance should not pass unnoticed either. In 2020 Real ID, essentially a nationalization of US state driver licenses, was supposed to take effect. DHS has pushed the deadline back several times and it is now set for May 2023.
It is very easy to imagine Real ID standards incorporating some sort of C19 passport/checkpoint system by that point, especially since it was justified as necessary for secure air travel.

The only reason the implementation date for RealID keeps getting pushed back is that the government itself has failed to get it done. In CA, people jumped through hoops to get RealID drivers licenses, only to find out that their diligence was not rewarded.

Truck drivers have had their licenses in a federal system for near three decades now, with the implementation of the Commercial Drivers License. Get pulled over for speeding in Oregon and they have instant access to your records even if you’re from Mississippi. Feds have had plenty of practice maintaining a database.
The tyrants’ strategy appears to be working. No one yet has decided to go full Rambo on the fascists who are dropping these increasingly harsh restrictions on the populace in serial fashion.. Who should I be protesting when there are no lockdowns or mandates (mask or vaxx), all our elected officials are conservatives and the state legislature passed laws making it virtually impossible for the governor to declare medical emergencies or mandates without legislative approval? Hell, the last abortion clinic in the city closed down in 2015 (but we have pro-life support centers in multiple locations throughout the city) and Antifa/BLM got dispersed with tear gas and arrests (who were held and not immediately released) last summer after the first window got broken.
America is a big place and life in 2021 Indiana is so different from the stories I hear out of the Blue States they may as well be different planets.

Yes you live in a comfortably red state. I don’t. Most don’t. The U.S. seems to have a minority of states as “comfortably red” as yours. Many are technically red in numbers but have weak, corrupt governments. My state, which surrounds Washington DC on three sides, and which “voted” overwhelmingly for the Dementocratic Pervert, has an almost entirely corrupt government, along with a extremely weak, ambitious RINO governor.
While “extreme federalism” is a good strategy, it’s only as effective as the officials in state government are willing to adopt and adhere to that strategy. As such, we Deplorables need to unify in our resistance to the Communists who are wielding power at both state and federal levels.

Excellent observations. You’re right, although most of us knew that election fraud would occur, IMHO most of us also thought President Trump had sufficient overwhelming support that his numbers would overcome the cheating. We didn’t know how large and widespread the fraud was going to be.
And then we didn’t really think the Republicans would so conspicuously avoid pursuing the criminals who perpetrated thst fraud, despite how obvious it was. But they did and here we are.
I think that the massive and conspicuous election fraud that was allowed to stand uncontested was the final act that FULLY awakened many to the depth of depravity and total corruption that exists within the Republican Party across the country, affecting both federal and state politicians.

Bit tough. America is the only place in the world with its unique gun culture. Most Australians never owned guns in the first place. They didn’t have them because they never needed them with gun violence being very low. Shop owners in Australia rarely get held up with guns. The only gun violence we have seen akin to what we see regularly in the US is when rival crime gangs kill each other.

The one important thing about this are the actions of Law Enforcement. If you think it would be different in America, you aren’t paying attention. The federal agencies would definitely support gov’t directives. And most of the Democrat controlled areas, State, County, and Local law enforcement would definitely support gov’t directives.
It’s why I say that to reclaim our Constitutional Republic, we have to get good Constitutionally minded people elected to local, county, and state levels. The one huge benefit to all of what’s happening, is that now we can see which areas would definitely ignore the Constitution and completely abuse their power. Parents found out just how badly the educations system was being run. It woke a lot of people up around the country, which was a good thing. Let’s hope the momentum continues.
Today, I saw a tweet of a video taken by a woman watching a burly Australian Gestapo stopping a man outside an apartment complex, trying to subdue him.
The Gestapo swung his leg around the man putting him off balance, and down he went. His head hit the pavement so hard, the impact could be heard from the balcony where the resident was filming it all.
The pool of blood was instant and copious. The Gestapo tried to get handcuffs on him for about 30 seconds before he realized the man was stone cold dead. All on video. He looked around before finally realizing he was being filmed. He said to the woman with the camera, “Yeah, he’s dead.” And the video stopped.
Even if I could, I wouldn’t post that footage. It was grotesque, brutal, unnecessary and gawdawful. But this is how the criminal mafia state operates there now. Life is nothing to them.
And I don’t know how it can be stopped. Australia, once a fair and lovely country is no more. Dead, murdered…just like that man I watched die today.

BUT since the demise of NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and her replacement by a Christian fellow by the name of Dominic Perottet, the state of NSW has started moving in a democratic direction. It is, however, the ONLY state run by the Liberal Party. All seven other States and Territories are run by the Labor Party (the Democrat Party equivalent) and the differences between them* and NSW are becoming increasingly stark. The Victorian and Queensland Premiers, particularly the former are going totally communist. The Victorian Premier is rushing through laws making his power absolute!
(*Except for the tiny Australian Capital Territory which is a small landlocked area within NSW where Canberra is located. The leftwing Chief Minister there has shown non-commie tendencies declaring he is anti- mandates.)
