Systems are shutting down or threatened because of the refusal of line workers to, for example, travel to vaccine mandate states to help out (and get overtime pay) when the power grid goes down. In one decade, between 1998 and 2008 America closed 51,000 manufacturing plants. Over three decades, between 1979 and 2009, manufacturing employment in America crashed, dropping from 19.5 million in 1979 to 11.5 million in 2009. That’s 8 million American manufacturing jobs, gone. Those were job-for-life jobs which the middle class counted on to raise a family and make a life, and upon which everyone else counted as well, from the appliance and clothing stores to the trades who built the houses they bought to the auto workers who built the cars they drove. Those manufacturing jobs were the foundation that supported the entire American economy.
With an average multiplier of 10 for manufacturing jobs (each manufacturing job creates an average of 10 additional jobs just from spending and re-spending that manufacturing payroll), as a result of losing those 8 million manufacturing jobs, 94 million Americans lost their jobs. And then they dropped out of the labor force because there were no jobs to look for. THAT is the ripple effect of outsourcing American manufacturing overseas. But forget the statistics and remember that these are lives we are talking about. Families, communities, futures, ruined unless we reverse course.

I thought that was a good segment. Tucker is tearing it up and telling the truth. I’m pretty sure that he’s legit and not just fitting a niche for profit. It’s so hard to tell. Regardless, he’s on a roll.

I also believe he genuinely gives a shit about the people who make this country work. And, for that, I’ve forgiven him on those matters.
