He was meticulous in cleaning the carpeting in our house right before we tried to sell it (it sold in 24 hours).
So I gave his company a 5-star review on YELP and wrote a little panegyric for him.
Today I was rather amazed to receive a telephone call from him. He wanted to know if I would republish my 5-star review on his website and other places, because…
…”YELP” was holding my and most of his 5-star reviews for his company hostage!
He discovered that most of them were missing, when a “YELP salesman” (Sic!) called him that Yelp had “archived” the reviews in a special folder because of “lack of traffic.”
The salesman also implied that he must have written some of the 5-star reviews, particularly mine!
However, for a small subscription fee, maybe these reviews could be made public again!
That’s right! YELP now uses MAFIA tactics to shake down small businesses!
I investigated and found that in fact my review was missing.
So I rewrote everything and added a paragraph at the end:

We lived… in a house, which we were selling, so that we could move out of Columbus to a nice small town elsewhere in Ohio.
Upstairs carpeting was not particularly dirty, but the hallway was a problem, as was carpeting in the basement.
Late in August the owner was able to scrub the carpet so well that the worn areas looked almost new! He was meticulous in scrubbing problem areas until they looked their best.
The price was more than reasonable: the house sold in one day! AAAA’S cleaning was part of the reason why it sold that quickly!

We see the small-business owner in America under enough stress right now from attacks – and taxes – by local, state, and federal governments. “Yelp” is supposed to be helping to promote small-businesses, not shaking them down for protection payments like the Mafia.
