Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

My cat prefers breakfast sausage. He demands I share it with him in the most pitiful way.
It’s ham for our Gabby. She will be at my feet, letting me know about it when ever I have ham out for any reason. Of course the dogs are there too! So if I decided to give Gabby the cat some I have to take it over to the bay window where she can eat her little pieces of ham without the dogs being able to reach them.
Have you priced bacon recently? ?
$6-7/#!!
30% increase on some items at local grocery in Tulsa yesterday……..trying to stay out of Chinamart but this gouging is hard to take.
Moved to turkey bacon. Not quite the same, but the cat does still love it.
$6.99 ON SALE in chicago!?
Yeah, and you have to be careful that price is for 16 oz vs 12 oz also.
HEB has NY strips for $4.88/# so going to stock up on those. We don’t eat much beef, but nice to have every once in a while.

This is a great Townes Van Zant song. The lyrics talk about life on the street, something with which Townes was quite familiar.
Thank you Garrison!

Happy Caterday, Treepers . . . 🙂
Stumbled upon them today, judging by the number of views I’m late to the party, as usual. Amazing.
I really enjoyed that Smokey Joe! “You’re the One Who never leaves the one behind.”

To coincide with the release of his second Sun single, “Good Rockin’ Tonight”, Elvis Presley, along with Bill Black and Scotty Moore, make their first appearance at The Grand Old Opry. Audience reaction is so poor, the Opry’s manager Jim Denny suggests that Elvis go back to driving a truck.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr begin recording together for the first time at EMI’s St. John Studio. They laid down six songs including “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You”, which will ultimately become their first single. Producer George Martin had originally wanted to release the Mitch Murray composition, “How Do You Do It”, but the band’s lack of enthusiasm was clear in the recording and the song remained unreleased until it appeared on “Anthology 1” in 1995.

KISS releases the Soft-Rock ballad, “Beth”, which will rise to #7 and become their only US Top 10 hit. The song was originally titled “Beck”, written about a woman named Rebecca, the wife of one of Peter Criss’ former band mates. Because Criss dedicated the number to his wife Lydia at each performance, many mistakenly thought the song was about her.

Nearly 26 years after the death of Elvis Presley, BMG / RCA, unearthed a never-before-heard song called “I’m A Roustabout”. The song was originally commissioned and written for the film Roustabout (1964) by long-time Presley collaborators Winfield Scott and Otis Blackwell, but was never used. Instead, a completely different song written by the team Giant / Baum / Kaye was recorded for the film and eventually became the title song for both the movie and the album. Winfield Scott found the original acetate in the basement of his New Jersey home and BMG / RCA added the track to the album “Elvis, 2nd to None”.

RE: Ivermectin ?
A doctor wrote this in another blog that I like to read:
“Sorry to bother all y’all with this late night missive, but PLEASE be VERY CAREFUL about the dosing many of you are using for ivermectin.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/…
While I am extremely distrustful of many of the sources, people have been overdosing on ivermectin and it is showing up in ERs and ambulances. I am not in the position of dictating your health choices, nor would I *EVER* deign to do so—however it is my professional duty to make sure that I counsel everyone that the drug must be used in the manner that clinical research has shown. If you have ANY questions—consult your physician, or better yet a pharmacist THAT YOU TRUST. Available animal products of ivermectin differ all over the place with respect to amount of drug, dosing vehicle (e.g. injectable versus oral preparations), and the correct dosing calculations are not always reliable due to differences in these formulations.
Please, for your own safety, be very careful and always consult with your healthcare professional of choice who knows drug therapy to make sure you are okay. “
This is the article he was referring to:
«Oklahoma’s ERs are so backed up with people overdosing on ivermectin that gunshot victims are having to wait to be treated, a doctor says»
https://www.insider.com/oklahomas-emergency-rooms-are-clogged-with-people-overdosing-on-ivermectin-2021-9
Ya can’t stop stupid….and I question anything that comes from yahoo.
I question Yahoo too, but I think the doctor had the heart in the right place.
I’ve been seeing people asking about Ivermectin, and some are very confused, even thinking that they should inject the medication.
If the doctors in my state could prescribe it, then I would not need to take the risk. They don’t so I do. I
When received a supply (for emergency availability) of Ivermectin and HCQ at Walmart through Push Health, the pharmacist had to explain the proper use. She also provided a paper instruction sheet.
I think the doctor was talking about the one for veterinary care.

Morning all. Truckers report.
Sunday afternoon drove up to Jackson, MI and took my break right on the property of the company where I was picking up. Google satellite maps are great for scoping out a new location where one hasn’t been before.
After the pickup at Jackson I went to Battle Creek (Cereal City) where I had three pickups. Then up to Muskegon for a final pickup and then returned to the Terminal in Anderson, IN to put the trailer in a door. I had never been to any of places I picked up at with the exception of one in Battle Creek.
Tuesday morning at 10:35 I was having coffee with my wife and the phone range. Driver had fallen and gotten hurt while on his way to a two stop milk run in Grand Rapids, MI. I bobtailed up and met him at a truck stop off US 31 in the vicinity of Ft. Wayne, IN and hooked to the trailer to do his run.
Should have been a no brainer but it wasn’t. The first stop was at a company I had not been to before. They refused to move the dunnage. I had a bunch of empty containers for both stops. The way this is supposed to be done is that the customer removes all the dunnage, then puts their freight in the trailer and then puts all the dunnage that is not theirs back into the trailer. Most places will not touch product from other places and moving product only increases the likely hood of damage. But moving empty racks, totes, bins, etc, is SOP.
It is not a drivers job to argue with shippers or receivers so I called in to dispatch so they could get customer service working the problem. This shipper seemed to think they were our customer. They were not! Our customer is the company that is paying the freight bills and which contracts us to pick up or deliver. This shipper was thus screwing their customer which was Faurica who is the Company not only buying the product from the shipper but also contracting us to pick it up.
The dispatcher I was working with left for the day at the end of her shift without informing me. When I called in after 1 hour and 45 minutes in the door is when I found out she had left. 2nd shift acted like they had no idea what was going on and told me to sit tight. Five minutes later the shipping clerk came out and said we will not be unloading or loading you. As I started pulling out of the door I called in to dispatch and told them I was leaving because the shipper refused to load me. They said “wait” and I said “No, I am now past the 2 hour window time and the shipper had informed me they will not be loading me and I have another stop to make and if I sit here much longer I won’t be getting back without taking a 10 hour break.”
People don’t want to take responsibility and sometimes a driver is the one who has to take control of the situation or the sissies will have you sitting their all night for no reason.
I made the 2nd pickup and was back at the yard after 13 hours from doing a run that should have taken 10 hours. Perhaps this explains why I am a salary driver so my pay is not based on miles driven
The name of the dispatcher that abandoned me is Katy. From now on I will address her as Katy Biden. She is too thick headed to get it, but it will make me feel better.
My final run of the week was a refer load of Nestle’s product to the Nestle’s facility at 555 Nestle’s Way in Breinigsville, PA (Near Allentown). I came into eastern PA right behind the remnants of Ida. In Carlisle, PA where I caught I-81 north I drove through 2 feet of standing water. Standing water from flash flooding was the biggest hazard because the heavy rain and wind had just passed and it was night so you couldn’t see it.
The Nestle’s facility at Breinigsville was a mess. Too many trailers for the facility and it took awhile for me to find a place to drop the trailer I brought. Then they had no empty trailers for me to hook to so I had to go out to their bull pen, take my 10 hour break, and then go back in the next morning. Luckily they had an empty for me though the inside of that refer trailer was wet. So I turned on the unit and set it on 95 deg. F to dry it out as I headed out for my back haul.
I picked up in Phillipsburg, PA and then Ridgway, PA and then headed for the Vandalia, OH terminal where I was to deliver the load. In normal times I can make to to Vandalia without taking another 10 hour break. I’ve done it many times on this run. But these aren’t normal times. Construction on I-80 and then an accident on I-76 ate up my time.
I stopped at a rest area on I-71 and took my 10 hour break. Arrived at the Vandalia, OH terminal at 09:30 and backed into a door where the unloaded me and then took off for my home terminal in Anderson, IN.
Once back I had to fuel and clean the refer trailer and return it to Nestle’s across the street from the terminal. So I fueled my truck and the refer. I then pulled around next to the dumpster where they have a blower for cleaning out the trailer. The sweep up the stuff blown out of the trailer and put it in the dumpster. Then turn on the refer unit set for 33 deg. F and slide the trailer tandems all the way to the rear and take the thing over the Nestle’s and park it.
Then I pulled my tractor into the express bay in the garage where they changed the bulb for the right front turn signal and changed a fuse I had blow which supplied power to a 12V outlet. And then I drove the tracker home so I can give the inside a good cleaning this weekend.
I arrived at home at 13:30 to greet my wife on our 38th wedding anniversary. As soon as I changed cloths I was mowing the yard. Sherry didn’t want to go out to dinner. So I went and got the carryout that she desired. A Gyros Plate from King Gyros was our anniversary dinner.
Good Morning Rah,
Really enjoy your blog reports. They give us an insider’s view of what you do, and the time involved in providing an essential service.
Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs. Rah !
Thank you, for all you do.
Thanks! She is wonderful. One reason I am called more often than the other salary drivers for emergency runs is that I get in so quickly to go. Part of the reason for that is that my wonderful wife helps me get ready to leave. While I do the 3- S’s and getting dressed she is making coffee and filling my thermoses and making sure all my stuff is in order to go out the door.
I would say “She sounds like a keeper” but you already had that figured out long ago….
A belated, “Happy 38th!”
In a few more days my other half and I are celebrating our 49th (yeah she’s a keeper too…) ?
Your mini blogs about your travels and travails should be required reading for every person who thinks driving a truck is simply a matter of getting in the cab and going from point A to point B. My admiration for what you and all your fellow truckers do is immeasurable. You are the consummate professional, Rah. It’s a rotten shame that others you depend upon to do their part don’t step up. You are the best of what makes America. God bless.
There is a lot more to my job than just driving for sure. But then again my job is not the average truck drivers job. The people that do over the road full time have to deal with similar stuff but the majority of drivers are going back and forth to the same places all the time carrying the same stuff to the same places. They know what door to back into and when they are to do so. They know the people they are dealing with and how they operate. They drive the same route over and over again. Pretty boring if you ask me. I intend on staying in this job until I can’t do it anymore and when that time comes I will then take a dedicated route if my state of health and situation allows it.
I met my British hubby 35 years ago on a 2 week tour of the British Isles. He was the coach driver and I was a passenger. I learned in quick order that his job included waay more than driving. He did coach tours of the European continent as well, which included dealing with required paperwork, different for each country traveled through. Delays were commonplace. So were adjustments to those delays. His favorite tours were of the WWI and II battlefields, which were moving and emotional, no matter how many times he
made them. He could thread a big coach, backing up, through the tiniest space with inches on either side to spare. And, like you, no two days were the same. He adored his profession as you do yours. Not many can say that.
One other thing. Concerning dispatchers. One has to understand the way trucking companies operate you have kids sitting at computers who have never been in a truck dispatching drivers that make twice as much as they do. I know that seems crazy but that is the way it is.
Let’s face it, rah. There is no price one can put on the knowledge we of a certain age have accumulated. In addition, a valuable quality we have is judgement. Which is something only age and experience can give you. The problem with youngsters is that they are so positive they absolutely, without question know it all. You can tell them nothing. And that’s when the errors they make start their education. Unfortunately making these errors, from whence comes judgement, means others are inconvenienced or worse. You sound like a man who has learned to roll with what your days throw at you. No one day like the next. Thank you for responding to my comment.
Ah yea! The newbies are broken in at the dispatch window where the drivers get and turn in the paper work. Sometimes we get one that comes in knowing nothing and then a few weeks later think they know it all. Those are the ones I screw with when given a chance.
For example I was bringing in a trailer that another driver was waiting for. Now usually when one comes in we get a placard that has the route number and date on it that is put on the trailer . That placard is to be presented to at the window to get the paperwork. That is supposed to prevent drivers from pulling the wrong trailer and taking off with it and 99% of the time it does.
So I brought in that trailer and the the driver that was going to take it on to it’s destination was right there. While he hooked up to the trailer I had brought I went to the dispatch window and told the girl what was going on. She insisted that I had to take a placard! So I stood there with placard in hand and waited and when the driver that was taking the trailer came in to get the paperwork I handed the placard to him right in front of the girl and he handed it to the girl. I think the message was received.
Ha! The ones who are clever will learn from one mistake. They are few and far between I fear. I’ve seen adults twice the age of these youngsters, some in management positions, who are lost causes; and for whatever reason, they think there is nothing left for them to learn, no matter from whom the lesson comes.
Always on the job, Rah.
Rah,
You are objective and contemplative and I can tell you love your work. Very interesting job .

We know that it is well with our souls because of what You have done for us.
We know that it is Your Peace, by Your Holy Spirit, that brings us rest in the turmoil.
We know that it is Your vision that leads us toward victory, and that we can walk with You and cross the finish line.
Some trust in chariots
Some trust in men of war
But we choose to trust in You to lead the fight to victory
We choose to trust in You to bring healings and freedoms to regain our Republic.
We choose to trust in You.
Mornin’ infidels! Y’all stay safe out there.
Verse of the Day for Saturday, September 4, 2021
✟
“Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:”
Proverbs 6:6 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!
BE MY VOICE
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, amen.

How about one more summer song before we put away our shorts and white shoes. Yes, thank you, I WILL have another pina colada.
Good one! 🙂
One more for ya then. Beer an’ music on a deck on the beach. No masks, no distance, no drink limit. Oh, and what a guitar is SUPPOSED to look like.
Posted a comment on the Presidential thread yesterday on my take on “Evil”, so I’m going to defer to IMO somebody who knows what he is talking about. Listen to the common sense, reassuring, and knowledge found here. I think Steve (Sb) who appears to be having some sleepless nights might also find these comforting. I did, and still do, every time I feel that “dread” begin to niggle – although of late, I’m finding it easier and easier to just ignore the negative stuff. Just remind yourself – truth is truth – no matter what – it’s not an opinion.
I notice that the National Hurricane Center shows Bermuda is in the warning cone for hurricane Larry. I spent two nights and a day in Bermuda while in transit to Europe when the C-130 we were flying in had engine trouble. Pretty cool place. At least their structures there are better built to take the wind than most other places.
