The global share of US-dollar-denominated exchange reserves dropped to 59.0% in the fourth quarter, according to the IMF’s COFER data released today. This matched the 25-year low of 1995. These foreign exchange reserves are Treasury securities, US corporate bonds, US mortgage-backed securities, US Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities, etc. held by foreign central banks.
Since 2014, the dollar’s share has dropped by 7 full percentage points, from 66% to 59%, on average 1 percentage point per year. At this rate, the dollar’s share would fall below 50% over the next decade:
The US dollar’s status as the dominant global reserve currency is a crucial enabler for the US government to keep ballooning its public debt, and for Corporate America’s relentless efforts to create the vast trade deficits by offshoring production to cheap countries, most prominently China and Mexico. They’re all counting on the willingness of other central banks to hold large amounts of dollar-denominated debt.
But it seems, central banks have been getting just a tad nervous and want to diversify their holdings – but ever so slowly, and not all of a sudden, given the magnitude of this thing, which, if mishandled, could blow over everyone’s house of cards.
No one needs to be an economist to understand that printing trillions of dollars indefinitely will diminish or evaporate the currency. The debt can only be ‘afforded’ if interest rates remain near zero, if they don’t? The FED is whistling past the graveyard. I think the plan is to blow up the economic system, it’s no accident.

Exactly. Central Banks worldwide have papered over the Global Financial Crisis (sub-prime) by lowering rates. This, of course, caused our ignorant, self-serving pols to borrow massively which led to massive increases in the national debt, interest on the debt even at artificially low rates in 2020 being $523 BILLION with only $2.1 trillion being taken in in tax revenue.
Now, with the debt at such high levels, if the Fed increase rates to “take the punch bowl away” from massively and unjustifiably inflated markets [record highs during a pandemic shutdown… really!?], the markets will crash due to the loss of that life support AND the interest payments on the national debt will increase many times over.
The central banks have trapped themselves and us in this situation and the massive debt spending in the US is an act of desperation to keep the third bubble in decades, this one the mother of all bubbles, from bursting.
….but every major country in the world also printed trillions of pounds, marks, franks and pesos as well so we’re all pretty even!
….and it will lead to a global recession.

During the bubble they take advantage of leveraged debt speculation using cheap money [artificially low interest rates] and REAL assets [land, buildings, etc.] which massively inflate during the bubble and then, after the crash, being cash rich (liquid) the buy up more REAL assets at fire sale prices.
The economic theory being used to run the world via interest rate manipulation is SIMPLISTIC GARBAGE which is used to create SIMPLISTIC GARABGE computer models then fed with manipulated data, like the Consumer Price Index, which via the Boskin Commission was made “more accurate” [lowered] in order to meet their goal of reducing Cost of Living Allowances through the introduction of hedonics and substitution.
Hedonics – the car you buy hasn’t increased much in cost over the decades because it includes more stuff and is therefore of greater value… although most of that stuff doesn’t help the primary purpose of a car, to get you from point A to point B.
Substitutions – if you can no longer afford beef, you’ll buy chicken.
So, you have a simplistic garbage economic theory used to create simplistic garbage computer models fed with manipulated garbage data. But WHY does this remain so?
Simple. Because those in a position to change it, the 0.01% and politicians both benefit from it – the 0.01% as described in the first paragraph and the pols by being able to massively borrow on someone else’s dime (YOURS) to buy votes and political allies.
This is all discussed in the brilliant book, “Greenspan’s Bubbles: The Age of Ignorance at the Federal Reserve” written in 2008 after the sub-prime fraud and related synthetic investment instruments caused the Global Financial Crisis (GFC), the second massive bubble to burst in a decade, the first one being the Dot Com bust.
We are now in THE EVERYTHING BUBBLE blown to cover up rather than actually fix what led to the GFC. To keep it from bursting, triggered by COVID, we see insane levels of national credit card spending.

Except the people who service them will be starving. I remember a year ago Ainslee on Fox was distraught she couldn’t get her hair done during the lockdown. I know she’s not exactly uber-rich, but they are used to a high and mighty life and they depend on the blue collar employees. Even the smallest interruption will send them into a meltdown. Also a lot of the rich are experiencing theft and break-ins as crime becomes more organized. The ones with all the wealth will be targets when the stuff really hits the fan and desperation sets in.
They will find plenty of people willing to work as domestic servants to escape being a serf on the plantation.

A 1000 square ft bungalow in our what was a working class neighbourhood thirty years ago.
Is inflation central, a year ago, one could speculate on a bungalow like the one above for say $950,000 Canadian.
One year later the same bungalow gets bids starting at $1,300,000 Canadian.
Nearly all the buyers are syndicatesmof wealthy immigrants, with often several family members on title.
The house gets torn down, and a new “monster” house goes up.
Guess what though..year of year construction costs have gone up over 30%.

Same thing happening here in the suburbs of Seattle… Boeing, Amazon, or Microsoft import a foreign worker on an H-1B visa because they will work for less than an American graduate will. But then the worker brings over their wife and kids and eventually both sets of parents as well. Even though they are over 65 years of age and have never paid a dime in US taxes, they immediately qualify for Medicare and supplemental Social Security because they have “no income” . And they are never required to learn one word in English but everyone else is supposed to accommodate them in their native language. Between all of them, they immediately have the income to buy a million-dollar four bedroom home in which they all live together. I have watched it happen for the last 30 years and now it’s at a point where most average families are completely priced out of ever owning a home.
But evidently it’s racist for me to mention that… even though I am married to a first-generation American, whose parents came here from Europe after World War II. Neither his mother nor older siblings could speak a word of English but they set about learning it immediately and got jobs and followed all of the rules and never received a dime of any kind of Public Assistance.

No, it’s about keeping your labor costs under control because Americans cost more.
The diversity narrative came about after all the Indians, Chinese had infiltrated the workplace, and to keep the white employees silent and not feeling marginalized. This was a clever way to cover up for not hiring Americans, hiring third worlders instead and making sure the few Americans left in place didn’t get too grumpy, discouraged and unproductive.
One of the biggest failings, imo. was not naming English our national language for good. The effort to have to learn our language would have made people think about America and what it is. In reading the article by Real Clear Investigations, I found this part interesting because I think it points out the FISA Court’s culpability in signing off on media reports as being corroboration. Since when is the media a source – their reports are, in almost all cases, hearsay. Rand Paul should look into this to confront his fellow senators about why the FISA Court is unconstitutional and, in fact, a joke.

I expect the vaccination will be required for anyone in healthcare. I have a relative in nursing school and she has been told vaccination will be required. She does not want the vaccine, and is considering quitting, but has invested so much in the program. It’s sad. For now she is waiting to see how things play out.

Agreed. Health care professions that involve direct patient care (like nurses) are a special case, a cut above. You know going in you WILL be working with vulnerable populations and people with chronic conditions. It’s ethical and responsible to take extra precautions to protect those you will be assisting by assuming more risk yourself. Plus, the companies that provide insurance for clinics and hospitals demand it. I mostly worked in medical imaging, but I certainly wasn’t given any choice about vaccination for a variety of things, because ANY kind of infection can be a life risk for patients in the ICU or in surgery. If you want to be a “frontline” worker, it’s going to be required. If you aren’t willing to accept it, there’s always the billing department.
Nursing home’s & LTC facilities are already short staffed & not earning much in pay for what they do.

I doubt most will quit any job like that over vaccinations. I worked as a medication aide in a dementia care facility for a year while in college. The only people that hold those jobs for long are already economically desperate. Wiping butts is one of the few jobs you can get with only a HS diploma. Most caregivers were recent legal immigrants, Filipinos or Latino. I was in awe of their dedication, but I didn’t want to try and live on minimum wage beyond the work-study period.

Completely illegal to require an employee to take an unapproved and untested experimental medication. Without FDA approval his company cannot force him to take anything. Even then the company may face legal jeopardy through the Americans with Disabilities Act. Your son should stand his ground and threaten a costly lawsuit.

Make sure he documents all communication and keeps all records including email comms from his employer and coworkers to build his legal case. He will have grounds for a big lawsuit.

lolli, I hope that your son’s employer has a policy in place for this; and that if it comes to the jab or his job that they terminate him vs. him resigning. Perhaps eventually a wrongful termination can be brought about (I don’t really know employment law… so who knows).
How an employer can mandate an injection (not a vaccine, see Weston Price Foundation podcast or any other forum where Dr David Martin has presented) that’s in an emergency use authorization is beyond me. Not to mention I just caught a headline stating that WA state has identified the virus in individuals which have take the full course of the injections.

I was think about this horrific episode, and the one with the baby being thrown in the river… it’s hard to imagine these very, very young children being summarily shipped off by their parents 1000 miles from the border.

What will be the straw that breaks our economy? It is coming and when it happens there will be a snowball effect. I believe that passage of a massive tax increase by reconciliation and a prosecution failure verdict in the Chauvin trial that triggers nationwide riots will cause consumer confidence to plummet, which will cause massive pullback of spending leading to a major decline.
This is a widespread hit in that taxes will affect business at a time they can’t afford it, and riots will affect everyday people by causing them to stay home, protect their families and property, and convincing many that they should hold on to their money, further destroying many jobs and businesses. And the left will cheer.

I’m not wealthy. Wife and I own a business that does $8-10 million minimum business. My company profits are virtually nothing as I pay myself as an employee, and spend what profits there are on either my other employees or capital expenditures. I keep enough profits to maintain business in slower years. Wife and I will have gross income (not AGI) of less then $100k this year. Yet I have no doubt that I’ll see my taxes go up….

The latest liberal ignorance from Hennepin County MN. The board has eliminated fines for overdue materials. They also initiated automatic renewal of materials and forgiveness of any fees currently owed.
The claims: “This removes financial barriers to library service. We don’t fund our libraries based on the mistakes of others. Our purpose is to share information – not generate revenue. This is to make the public library accessible to more residents.”
“The elimination of late fines from the Hennepin County Library system is a change that will reduce disparities and increase access to our collections,” said Commissioner Marion Greene, chair of the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners. “We know that fines and fees disproportionately affect low-income people and communities of color, and we are doing what we can to ensure that everyone is welcome to utilize our services regardless of their ability to pay.”
“Our goal is to get people borrowing again,” says Director Helton. “If you’ve been staying away from the library because of a book that was lost 10 years ago, we want you back.”
So, let’s see, the people who can’t seem to return items, who really don’t care about limited government services, likely don’t pay much tax to support the library, probably aren’t big readers anyway, and don’t have $1.95 to pay fines, are the people they want to start using the library more? This of course means that fines are racist don’t ya know.
If there are no fines..or late fees why would anyone go to a book store.. just take the books never planning to return them..
This idea has be floating around the public library field for over 20 years that I am aware of.
Doesn’t seem to effect library usage one way or the other from studies that have been done.

For example: A grocery store. Need a cart, put a quarter in the unlocking mechanism. When done shopping, put the cart back, get you quarter back.
