Very informative. It sounds like Barr is freeing the FBI to act without a roadblock from DOJ! I have had my doubts about Barr, but this sounds serious.
Hopefully Trump did not leave Barr with a choice.
Skepticism is still needed in the AG Barr authorization of investigation of voter fraud. But the article linked by jackphatz gives some clarification and hope. Apparently, AG Barr realized that Richard Pilger, director of the DOJ Criminal Division’s Election Crimes Branch, was blocking any probes into 2020 election fraud. Thus, he issued the authorization. This is why Pilger resigned from the job. (Not sure if he left the DOJ completely, but that will eventually be revealed.)

That is a very interesting article.
If you look at the comments (sort by best – most liked), overwhelming pessimism prevails. Especially as Barr authorized rather than ordered, which likely wouldn’t be carried out by FBI Agent scum anyway.
I did notice that. One can only hope Barr means this in a good way. I was blown away by how easily one man could write a rule that basically said ‘nope, we don’t care there is vote fraud’ and NO ONE seemed to know about this.
It truly would be hard to imagine the man who rips Blitzer just a couple of months ago would not prosecute voter AND election fraud that now is rampant across so many states.

Just saw an interesting news piece that gives an indication of how cowardly Republican and Democrat politicians are going to use denial of service in place of government legislated or issued “mandates” for compliance by citizens.
Ticketmaster will REQUIRE documented proof of vaccination in order to purchase tickets via their service.
This means government agencies are threatening the businesses with closure for failure to “protect the public” from (you name it).
They are going to cancel their own business.
A lot of people are now anti-vaxx even if they’ve been prompted by media pooping on Trump’s vaccine.
Well I guess I’ll be canceling the tickets I’ve been holding for “Chicago” that was originally scheduled for March and now re-scheduled for December 2021!

The US Constitution provides for an Election Day not a week or a month to keep accumulating and counting ballots. Thus everything received after midnite Nov. 3rd local time shall be considered null and void. The vote count at that time is what must be certified official. Therefore, disallowing all the fraudulent votes counted after Nov. 3rd, the Electoral College count ended at Donald Trump 294 and Joe Biden 244. The crooked media is wrong once again, “Dewey Defeats Truman!”</i.
That is the route I hope scotus takes. Uniform across the board and will set a precedent. For this monstrosity, get it out of the hands of multiple states and such. As you note, election day is codified in federal law (for federal elections), “The Tuesday next after the first Monday in November.” In this case, November 3rd. All election activity should end at midnight local time. SCOTUS can ask why were populous states like Texas and Florida able to complete theirs? They can even touch on voting fraud by saying leaving open for days and weeks makes it ripe for fraud.
Excellent point Brant! IIR The whole purpose of extended count times was justified by the notion that-mail in votes might not be received in time to count by 11/3 – you know how the post office is, and therefore in the pandemic and because of the pandemic only, we will make exemptions to this rule.
And as you point out, that would be perfectly acceptable if places like Texas and Florida suffered tremendous delays.
However any decision the Supreme Court has to make will be with the hind-knowledge of those large states indeed able to get the job done, and therefore those states that did not get the job done may well have been looking to slow things up for political advantage.
There is nothing that the Founders of this country did not know about the ability of people to do evil and subvert the process of a fair government and election. Even allocating the right to the states was meant to make it more difficult. However, it is crewed up royally right now.
Clean voter rolls, voter ID, extended voting past election day poll close is eliminated, and mail voting is limited to absentee only.
What about the machines?

There will be good days, bad days, and quiet days. Today was a relatively quiet day, as evidence continues to be quietly processed behind the scenes.

At this point all of the swing states need a full manual hand re-count including signature verification (no tabulators). If the envelopes with signatures for mail ballots have been destroyed or can’t be paired to ballots then any ballots without a signature for verification should be thrown out. Anything less voids the entire election.
Audit. In a recount the same people that counted the votes in the first place do it again. Not so for an audit.
Critical Distinction
I am trying to understand the meaning of “audit” that Michigan uses in it’s law. It does not seem they are “vetting the content” of each ballot that was cast or recorded.

I don’t plan to do nothing, and I certainly am not going to announce my intentions and plans on the internet. I suspect there are millions like me.
If you actually see my comments in the sea of others, you should always assume it is simply me gaming out all the scenarios in my head. My thought process is always about odds of 20 different things that might happen – by definition, at most only 1 of those 20 scenarios will actually come true, but you can predict and plan to avoid the ones you don;’t want if you acknowledge how they might turn out. It has nothing to do with what I want or hope for this country, unless I say thats what its about.
Everyone seems to be processing the situation differently, and it sure would be nice if we all just let it go down. Each of us also comes to this moment in history with very different experiences and background. For me, while I have never worked on voting machines or even been in a vote counting room, etc… I have done development and networking my entire career. I’ve been called to be an expert witness on hacking cases and industrial theft.
So I get that this is social media and being called Eeyore, traitor or enemy troll, or I should renounce my citizenship comes with the rough and tumble territory. But consider the possibility that I am simply calling out things I observe and believe we should be focusing on when its relevant to what I know. I am under no delusion that this is a comment board and no one gives a rats patoot what I have to say or is rolling it into the formal suits and legal work anyone is doing.
But I bet there are others here, like the one who always says “retired magistrate here” – he/she must have some expertise in that field – so if she says “I think X will/will not work” maybe we should have a conversation instead of attack her.

PA election law section 3146.9 requires all ballots and envelopes for absentee/ mail in voting be kept for 2 years. The official (s) responsible must be charged and punished. At a minimum they should be immediately relieved of duty.

I used to post pretty frequently (2010 – 2013) and then my life changed dramatically. On a visit to my mother in Louisiana it was apparent she could no longer live on her own. We have since moved from Houston to Lafayette, LA to stay with her in her home (which is what she wanted) and care for her. She is now 91 years old and her mind is complete gone for the most part, poor darling.
I have a son who just turned 13 and daughter who is 29 (so we’re “older” parents). Between caring for him, my mother, 6 rescue dogs and a full-time job, I do manage to find the time to read the post every day but rarely to peruse the comments and comment myself.
I took Sundance’s request to heart and do not like to post without first knowing if what I’m posting has been posted and discussed already, so I have mostly abstained in recent years.
That being said, as I know some of you here at the Treehouse have seen my speak of my horribly liberal boss. He is infuriating in most ways and tends to “harass” me, for want of a better way of putting it, frequently because of my support for President Trump. He CONSTANTLY copies me with emails discussing politics, insulting our President and the people who support him.
Several months ago I was furious and needed to vent, so came here. I copied and pasted the text from the email he had copied me on and asked for advice on how to stop it without losing my job. Instead I go accused of being a “troll” and other insults by people I did not know (I know and/or recognize a lot of the long time Treepers). For a long time I did not post anything after that – it was very upsetting to me.
So, now, at the risk of getting chastised again, I just want to post what I was copied on this afternoon. When I said on the day after election that someone may need to begin a “Go Fund Me” to bail me out of jail I was only half-kidding. From an email to a CLIENT (and a new one, at that, he’s only met her once):
I am still on a high from the election! And getting higher every day! I’m sure you are too! I am still following the news flowing from Trump’s continued charade. I wish I thought that “this too will end”, however, I think that Trump will never stop now that he has had some of his own Kool aide. He wants to keep the divisions he has created or fanned until the next presidential election when he or his son will run for President. In 1887, Lord Acton said “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” Proving that there is little under the sun that is new! I think that this expression applies to Trump except the last phrase, which should be revised to read “Such men are almost always bad men”! Just saying.
See what he did there – changed the word “great” to “such” because the rest wasn’t insulting enough. Then makes sure to copy me with it.

Retired Magistrate here: If I remember correctly about 4 weeks ago the CDC said that they were not going to count the flu anymore in the stats; just assume that everything is covid-19. If that is truly the case, no wonder the numbers are increasing. This is flu, cold and sinus season and the only thing hospitals get compensated for is people who test positive for covid-19 and are treated for that.
Our Rino Governor, DeWine, just announced he will be sending out investigators to make sure the statewide mask mandates are enforced. He is also threatening to shut down bars, restaurants and gyms again if the numbers don’t go down. Well, of course they won’t go down; it is flu season! He is such a dictator.
My husband and I are waiting to see how all this shakes out and may be moving to Florida where they have a wonderful governor, who promised he would not shut down again and I believe him.
