As a former debater for my school, I can honestly say that the debaucle occurring tonight DOES NOT RESEMBLE A DEBATE IN THE SLIGHTEST! It is more like a Jerry Springer episode, with no rules whatsoever! I believe this is being done to attract viewers and to discredit primarily the President of the United States!
For anyone not knowing how official debates are run:
1. The moderator poses a question. No one else is allowed to speak at this time. After the question, the moderator does not speak.
2. Each debater is allowed a VERY SPECIFIC amount of time to answer the question. There are time clocks plainly visible. Absolutely no cross talking, laughing, sighing, or interruptions of any type are allowed! Whichever debater “won the toss” speaks first. Points are deducted if a debater goes over the allotted time.
3. When both debaters have spoken, the moderator allows each of them a set time for rebuttal in the order they spoke. During rebuttal, they can address what the other debater has said. The same rules apply.
4. The moderator poses a different question, and the rest is the same for each question. I believe that there is a specific time at the end to summarize your positions regarding the question(s).
That’s it! The judge(s) decide who won with a point system. Actual debates are not very exciting viewing, and this is why these TV “FAKE DEBATES” have devolved into “CAGE MATCHES!” They further the loss of courtesy, decorum, and class that is so prevalent today – largely due to media influence over decades!
Any Talk Shows or even Game Shows have the ability to cut off the sound from a microphone. If this was utilized, and a penalty of allowing the opponent an extra set time to speak when the rules were not followed by a debater, I believe these debates could be easily managed.
However, I never saw a single time clock for viewers, And to tell you the truth, it was difficult to tell what the procedure actually was!
The result was TOTAL CHAOS, and each election year, it gets worse! On top of that, WHY ON EARTH DO THEY ALWAYS ALLOW BIASED MEDIA PERSONS TO MODERATE!!! the definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result!

My hubby walked out of the room within the first 15 minutes and I needed to take a blood pressure pill. Chris Wallace ruined this debate by taking Biden’s side and doing most of the debating for him. I do agree with Dana Perino though, Trump should not have interrupted Biden so much. Biden would be stumbling and then Trump would interrupt him and let Biden get back on track.
This wasn’t going to be a serious “debate” from the start… Wallace as a moderator is the equivalent of reimagining the police.

President Trump needs to work on giving substantial answers back and not getting so defensive because tonight he missed so many opportunities to shut Biden’s lies down and to tell the viewers about his numerous great accomplishments. This was not a good debate at all for anyone.

ROTFL, I watched this on OAN snfd the first comment when the debate ended was “Here, I have a box of tissues for Chris Wallace to wipe the brown off his nose”. That made it worthwhile.
I like OAN’s content and gladly pay to watch but… why do the talking heads all look like they are lip syncing. Just enough time lag between audio and video that their mouths don’t say the words I hear. Not a deal breaker but annoying.

I so rarely tune into Fox anymore. I am on this website (CTH) 10 times more than I am on Fox. I like Hannity, Carlsen, Dobbs, Ingraham, Bartiromo but they have to spend so much time bird-dogging and fact checking all of the bogus stories of the NYT, WaPo, CNN and MSNBC, you never get to the real news, just what the other networks are falsely reporting.
So, after an evening spent watching Fox all you are left with is: “nothing reported on the news tonight was true”. And it goes on like that, night after night. (sigh)

The “debate” scheme is suboptimal to the point of being farcical. A real debate allows for each side to first make a presentation of let’s say 15 minutes, with the President being first speaker, then the opposition delivers own presentation. Next would follow 10-minute rebuttal with first the President rebutting the opposition followed by opposition rebuttal. Only then would moderator be allowed to ask questions.These so-called “Presidential Debates” are nothing but scripted slug-fests and the format is a complete sham that insults the intelligence of every American citizen.

By the end of the debate, I was convinced that this was a “double”. How can Biden stumble, mumble and bumble through so many network interviews and perform at this level compared to the level we have witnessed for months. Something is wrong with this picture.
