I do believe I posted on the relationship of vitamin D and COVID at least once here, I’d been seeing articles from Chinese and European researchers since Spring and there seemed to be a connection between the amount of D in your body and the severity of the COVID infection.
One of my specialists back in early summer tested my D levels, out of the blue, and put me on 5K IU aday… she didn’t offer an explanation other than ‘your D is low’ and I didn’t pursue one. Just last month she tested again and upped me to a 10K dose three times a week.
While looking at the issue for another site I found these two articles – note one’s from a JAMA source and the other gives more specifics. I find it interesting that there’s a clear relationship between one’s D levels and the severity of the infection yet we’re being told to stay inside and we’re not hearing doctors saying to up your D intake to combat your lack of outside time.

czarowniczy: Were you on 5K IU x5 days/wk (25K IU) or x7 days/wk (35K IU)? If 7 days/wk, then your doctor actually reduced your overall intake by 5K IU/wk.
Of note, I just today read in AARP’s Aug/Sep 2020 issue (which I can’t find online except here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/AARP-MAGAZINE-August-September-2020-Kevin-Costner-Carol-Burnett-/402411923475 ) the article titled: The Vitamin D Conundrum by Sara Vigneri where it states on pg 20:
“What we do know is that, as we get older, our bodies become less and less efficient at converting UV rays into this crucial hormone. An older adult needs almost three times as much sun exposure as a child to produce the same amount of vitamin D.”
“A 2019 study found that doses as high as 10,000 IU per day resulted in bone loss. ‘I regard vitamin D and calcium as threshold nutrients–deficiency is bad, but once you reach adequate levels there is minimal benefit in pushing the dose higher,’ says David A. So my take on this is that, we really should get our Vit D from sunshine (I’ve heard about 20 min of sunshine is needed to meet daily requirements, with more minutes needed depending on depth of skin tone).
Since I don’t believe in coincidences and my reading that article literally happened just moments before I came here to CTH and saw your post, I think I’m supposed to share the info with you. The article was well-written IMO and I wish I could have found it for you to read in its entirety.

Should have been more precise, I was on 5K IU daily and remain on that base but, 3 days a week, I take an extra 5k for a total of 10K for those 3 days.
We’re not being told a lot about prevention of COVID infection, Big Pharma/Vaccine is being sold as our only hope. I’m not an anti-vacciner but the flu vaccine, that’s much older and more researched than the upcoming COVID vaccine and the 2019-2020 flu vaccine was only taken to be 45% effective.

Twice in the last few years the SCOTUS has ruled that retired military personnel can be court-martialed under the UCMJ for crimes committed after they retire. The SCOTUS affirmed that even though service members are retired their retirement is only a change in status as they are subject to recall in an emergency. That ignores the fact that retirees over 60 are not likely to be recalled, and those with medical disability retirements are even less likely, but it does give the Feds a 3rd bite at the apple. Let’s say you are retired and you are charged with a crime like manslaughter and the local courts clear you, find you’re innocent. The Feds can still come after you using the DoJ to charge you with a civil rights crime. Again, let’s say the Feds case ends up in your favor and you’re acquitted, now if they still want to go after you and you’re a retiree they try you in a court martial for a violation of the UCMJ. So much for double jeopardy.
We’ve recently had two retirees tried and convicted in a civilian court for crimes committed after they retired and who were also called up by the DoD for a court-martial, tried and convicted. If we really wanted to overreach we could also see a retired military member tried by the DoJ if the DoJ could squeeze the retiree’s crime through a Federal Civil Rights keyhole.
The scary thing here is that since the SCOTUS says retirees are still subject to the UCMJ there’s nothing preventing the DoD from saying that retirees cannot directly participate in partisan political affairs or speak ill of any elected politician. Far fetched? So’s recalling a retired servicemember for a court martial for a civilian crime committed outside of the service.
