The Accomplishments Of Calvary

Three times in Romans 5 we read that Christ died for us. Verse 6 tells us that He died for us in our weakness, Verse 8 that He died for us in our sin, and Verse 10 that He died for us in our rebellion.
First, Verse 6 says: “For when we were yet WITHOUT STRENGTH, in due time Christ died for the ungodly”.
Men sometimes try to make themselves acceptable to God by human effort, but they never succeed. We can’t walk or run to heaven, we can’t even fly there, and we certainly can’t climb there — not even by doing good works, for good works is what we ought to do, and we should not expect them to counter-balance our sinful thoughts and deeds. Anyway, heaven is God’s and He says we cannot gain it by works:
“For by grace are ye saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph.2:8,9).
Next, Romans 5:8 says: “God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet SINNERS, Christ died for us”.
Many people feel shut out of heaven, not merely because of a sense of helplessness, but because of a sense of sinfulness and condemnation. To such God proclaims the glad news that “Christ died for sinners”, and “came into the world to save sinners” (ITim.1:15). At Calvary He paid the just penalty for sin — for the sins of all mankind — so that we, by faith, might be “justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Rom.3:24).
But Romans 5:10 goes even further, offering hope and grace to those who have resisted God’s grace and rejected His Son, for here the greatest Christ-rejecter of all time, now gloriously saved and changed, declares:
“When we were ENEMIES, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son” (Rom.5:10).
And so the helpless, the sinful, yes, and the rebellious, can find acceptance with God if only they will turn to Him from their sin and failure. “BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED…” (Acts 16:31).

One of the side effects of the covid-virus, social distancing, and working from home (provided you still have a job) and working form home is a marked rise in depression and a corresponding weakening of customary friendship ties. I wonder how many friendships have faded during our extended emergency and how many may not recover once the covid-hysteria is over and society returns to a semblance of normal. A greater tragedy than the virus, it seems to me, is the loss of good friends who, for various reason, simply fade away. I’m fortunate to have a group of close friends that I’ve know for a good part of my adult life. I’m pleased to say, and more than bit bit blessed, that we’re as tight as ever. I hope the same is true for all my Treeper friends.
And, for those of us who are feeling a bit of Irish or Scots-Irish tonight, here’s a second version that’s also most enjoyable . . .

Covid might actually be a blessing allowing us to see those who are truly our friends. Remember the example of the Tree as a way to determine your friends? Some are leaves, some are branches, and then there are those who are roots.
Maybe this is a way for us to learn not only who are the ‘roots’ in our lives during this time of ‘testing’ but what we are to those in our lives: leaves, branches, or roots.
And remember, too, the greatest Root and the only One that truly matters:

Not too long ago, I had posts similar to what you are stating here. Although CTH visitors know better, 99% of the outside world and the college foot soldiers (the “peaceful protestors”) does not understand that BLM and ANTIFA are not organic movements of untrained leftists.
In fact many of them are well trained and extremely, professionally, organized. Also, if one looks very carefully at nuances such as the way many of their security forces are carrying themselves and / or techniques being utilized, there are strong parallels to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Follow the links closer and one might see signs of one or two alphabet agencies from our intelligence superstructure. In essence it becomes like Russian dolls and you have a front, within a front, within / backed by a front, so on and so forth.
With we, the American people, ultimately funding (through taxes) its own demise. Although I do not have clear answers on what to do, it would seem that a second term for PDJT would be a good place to begin. Also, taking back the House and having the Congress, launch a new Church (type) Committee would be a good place to begin.

My grandmother (born in 1900), a woman of strong Christian faith, liked Elvis’ gospel albums very much and had several in her record collection back in the 1960s. This brought back that memory.
I’m sorry the video didn’t work correctly. That happened once before on another video I posted, but just had to click on the underlined “Watch this video on YouTube” and then it could be viewed. I should have checked to make sure it was working correctly after posting.
I’m glad the video brought back a good memory for you of your grandmother. I watched a documentary on his life about 6 yrs ago and it said most nights he and his band would go to his room and sing gospel songs pretty much all night until morning. He couldn’t really attend church anywhere after becoming famous, and that was his way of having worship time. You can tell when Elvis sings gospel it isn’t about him but about Him.
We’re blessed to have people who sing so beautifully and record their ability and then someone else posts that to YouTube for all of us to enjoy. : )

As surely as we receive from Him, He will pour out through us, and in the measure He is not pouring out, there is a defect in our relationship to Him. Is there anything between you and Jesus Christ? Is there anything that hinders your belief in Him? If not, Jesus says, out of you will flow rivers of living water. It is not a blessing passed on, not an experience stated, but a river continually flowing. Keep at the Source, guard well your belief in Jesus Christ and your relationship to Him, and there will be a steady flow for other lives, no dryness and no deadness.
Is it not too extravagant to say that out of an individual believer rivers are going to flow? “I do not see the rivers,” you say. Never look at yourself from the standpoint of – Who am I? In the history of God’s work you will nearly always find that it has started from the obscure, the unknown, the ignored, but the steadfastly true to Jesus Christ.

You know I was thinking about it, we really need to elect JOE BIDEN. Here I present 5 easy reasons why:
1. President Donald J. Trump is a political outsider who came to Washington, District of Columbia with mo political experience and very few connections. He then used his next 4 years to fulfill campaign promises and exceed expectations.
Former Professor / Senator / Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. has had forty-seven years in which he got ZERO done and lied quite often (even plagiarized a speech or two). He has been a consistent Washington, District of Columbia insider who has had upstanding friends such as Senators Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd.
This is a level of consistency and a track record that President Trump can not even come close to.
2. President Donald Trump refuses to accept a salary from the American people, and fitters away our generosity on charity.

3. President Donald Trump speaks to us in sentences, with clear thoughts, thereby treating us like adults.

President Donald Trump was rumored to be a germ-a-phobe and was rumored not to wish to shake anyone’s hand, and yet the author of this post has actually had a real handshake with the President, in NYC, when he was a well known (prominent) business man. He has a great handshake, gives a warm smile, and makes eye contact with everyone in your group.
But will he give you a back message??? No! And this is the whole problem people!
Former V.P. Joe Biden likes to touch everyone. Loves giving back massages. Loves rubbing shoulders. Loves to aggressively pursue the wives and girlfriends of his secret service detail so that he may show them how much he appreciates them through caressing and kisses (in front of his wife and everyone else at a Christmas party).
This is a man who loves, LOVE, and is not afraid to show it to anyone, whether they want him to our not.
5. President Donald Trump is trying to keep us out of foreign wars and wind down troop deployments in other nations, while still attempting to modernize our military, as well as take care of our veterans.
Former VP Joe Biden would be happy to invade Syria, threaten Russia, draft his domestic terrorist foot soldiers (BLM and ANTIFA: the boys, the girls, the LGBTQ??? or plurals or whatever) into the military for either / both conflicts with North Korea / Iran, and wishes to do so, without modernizing a thing. In fact he would be happy to send our young people off to foreign wars with equipment that is outdated, with some of it having been made by his close, personal, friends in China years ago.
Obviously old Joe is one of the great critical and strategic thinkers of our time.
Now we could go on and on about the merits of former VP Joe Biden, but why would we? The case is made, and I think all you CTH supporters know exactly what needs to be done come this November.

The very best part for me was the door on the left at 1:26. There are hundreds of thousands of these doors all around the world, not always white, occasionally other colors. And I just recently saw a similar door in the 1955 movie “The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit” at 14:54 (check it out at https://www.youtube .com/watch?v=TEWZpUhDu8g [NOTE: remove space in front of “.com” and copy/paste link to address bar]).
I truly believe these doors were designed as a reminder to everyone living surrounded by their myriad possessions as to where mankind’s real source of living derives. Do you see what I see when looking at these doors?

I think once seen, we’ll always see the beautiful message provided by these doors when we come across them in pictures or wherever. They stand as a silent reminder of His sacrificial Life and His abundant Love freely given to all of us.

He was a native of Crete and a disciple of the Holy Apostle Paul. He labored much for the Gospel and reposed peacefully in the Lord at an advanced age. He is honored today, August 25th on the traditional Calendar of the Orthodox Christian Church and September 7th on the civil calendar.
The “Prologue” for today gives an inspiring description of his life.
Since Saint Titus was one of the Seventy Apostles, he is included on the Synaxis of the Seventy in January.
