UPDATE: As if on cue: President Obama skips another national security briefing again TODAY…

EARLIER: When you elect an inexperienced, and profoundly ideological leader like Barack Obama based on a principle ruse of cultural popularity you eventually discover that “Hope and Chage” really means “Hoax and Chains”. Fundamental chains.
President Obama is no more capable of leading international crisis than Milli Vanilli to sing acapella. The former needing a teleprompter the latter needing to lip-sync.
There is a radical shift underway in international power. This shift is entirely intentional, planned, strategic and desired from the perspective of the White House occupant team who have long viewed The United States as too exceptional.
Author Stanley Kurtz has studied Obama’s inner circle, and long before current events with Libya, Egypt, Iran, Syria and now Ukraine, Kurtz well predicted the outcome of foreign policy with Obama in office.
“Obama doesn’t seem to have a single overarching strategic perspective. Instead he “pragmatically” juggles competing sensibilities on foreign policy, ranging from multiculturalist non-interventionism (Syria), to postcolonial exhortation (Sudan), to humanitarian interventionism (Libya), to a political desire to keep foreign-policy problems sufficiently in check to allow a focus on domestic transformation”.
That’s right, Barack Obama is willing to sub-contract his foreign policy to fellow leftists, travelers if you will, like Samantha Power, Denis McDonough, Susan Rice and Hillary Clinton, in order to concentrate on his stealth socialist domestic agenda. In his brilliant book, Radical-In-Chief, Kurtz illuminates the way Obama’s foreign policy takes a back seat to a transformational, radical domestic agenda:
Obama’s stance toward foreign policy and cultural issues combines quick and easy progressive changes with a still stronger desire to hold political conflict at bay. The point is to keep side issues stable enough to permit Obama to focus on structural changes to the economy.
[…] For Obama, slow-motion economic transformation (in a socialist direction) is the key to every other change.
Rather than disproving the claim that Obama is a socialist, these [issues] reveal a president clever enough to preserve his political capital for the structural changes that matter most.
“Matter most”? – What we witnessed yesterday with a limp-wristed speech about U.S. concerns over the Russian military moving into Crimea was immediately followed by a President who did not head back to the office for the latest intelligence information.
No, this president did what was more important to him – he proceeded directly to a DNC fundraiser.
What matter’s most right now is NOT Russian military roadblocks in Ukraine. What matter’s most is taking action to insure his legislative and executive domestic goals are possible.
Obama needs to retain domestic power; he needs to carve up all the little boxes of internal politics, identity politics, and put measures on the table which appeal to his deflated base: Gay issues, race issues, gender issues, union issues, immigration issues, all targeted to stimulate his base of support.
President Obama could not care less for what happens in Ukraine. It’s “Over There”..
From his perspective international events are a strategic annoyance, distractions.
Obviously this creates a global power vacuum and allows other global powers to fill the void. Both Russia and China will take full benefit of the shifting global power dynamic.
On the upside – There is no fear of war because our U.S. interests are not present in such views. Putin can take all the geography he wants, its simply not our problem.
