A stunning victory for Team USA in Women’s Hockey over Sweden today. Actually it so lopsided it looked like a 58 minute U.S. power-play. The United States just crushed Sweden and won 6-1 advancing to the Gold Medal match against Team Canada who also advanced with a 3-1 victory against Switzerland.

The men’s hockey teams had the day off. Tomorrow the elimination quarter finals of mens hockey begin with seeds 5 though 12 pairing up. The USA men’s team awaits the winner of Czechoslovakia / Slovakia for their next matchup.
Meanwhile it was Ice-Dancing Gold for Team USA as Meryl Davis and Charlie White finally made it onto the top spot of the Olympic podium by overtaking their rivals, Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, in the ice dancing competition.

In the medal count both Russia and the USA are tied for first place with 18 total medals. The Netherlands have 17 from massive victories in speed skating, and Norway holds 16 total medals due, in part, from domination in distance skiing competition.
