During last nights GOP debate on CNN a conversation about “executive orders” took place.  Michele Bachmann took Rick Perry to task on his executive order as Governor of Texas for a vaccination program for young girls regarding Gardasil.   Perry stated his initial approach was wrong and if he had the opportunity to do it over again he wouldn’t approach by executive order, instead he would follow a legislative process to consider adding such a program to the current vaccination protocols.
Bachmann delivered a thoughtful response outlining the flawed ideology behind Perry’s actions and drawing a contrast of freedom and parental rights to self-determination.   On this issue she did well.
However, she just couldn’t leave well enough alone and allow her position to stand on its own merit.

Instead what eventually happened is Michele Bachmann exposed why she is not taken seriously and is considered by many to be a flighty candidate.   She appeared on Fox News Greta Vansustern show and makes the claim that Gardasil causes mental retardation evidenced by, wait for it, yup a woman who approached her after the debate and said it was so.
This is the gaffetastic Michele Bachmann the media loves.   She approaches issues without a solid foundation to support her assumptions and makes wild claims as factually based without any supportive or logical basis for her positions.   This diminishes her and makes her appear unstable in the eyes of many viewers.    After Rush Limbaugh paid her praise for her performance at the debate, he had to walk back his confidence when faced with the reality of the bizarre follow-up conversations/interviews.
